Canada life is definitely the worst insurance company in existence. Their so called customer service is ridiculous. None of the “agents” care. You submit a claim and wait months to be reimbursed. They stall on purpose, they don’t want to pay any claims. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this horrible company. My ex husband’s insurance company reimburses their claims in 24 hours or less. Canada life is a joke. Months to get your money and even when it’s the “leftover” amount. Unprofessional and brutal! I wish my employer would make the switch !!!!!!
My employer has Canada Life. I am on LTD with cancer. Being off for almost 2 years I was told my claim would end at 24 months. A few months ago I was told I must apply for my CCP disability and threatened that they could or would come after me for repayment if I didn't file. I did file and received a letter today saying I was approved from March of 2021 and the amount was $22,586. But that Canada Life wanted to be reimbursed and that a payment of $22,586 was sent to Canada Life. I have had numerous caseworkers in 2 years. Some don't get back to you. Worst experience I have had, STAY AWAY from this rip-off company and their employees. Should be Canada LifeLess.

Have had to make several calls over the past year and have been amazed with how unhappy the staff I've spoken to are. I get a 'one-off' thing, everyone has a bad day at some point, but 4/5 times seems excessive. Between that and all the additional 'hoops' we're made to jump through (I assume, so we just give up and using their benefits), it's become a real displeasure to contact them. I recently went for a root canal, and they were going to pay $1425 of the $1500 procedure (had a pre-assessment). When it came time, my dentist realized the tooth was in worse condition than expected and aborted the procedure part way in. He only charged $500 for what was done, but they would only cover 1/2 of that? So they saved $1000 from his decision to do that, and thanked me by putting it to me for an extra $200. I've been with them for 25+ years now, but they are not the company they were in the past. Unhappy/Rude staff and bad benefits.
