Not like it was before

I have read nothing but poor reviews of Canada Life after they took over PSHCP. I have had nothing but amazing service. Any phone call has been handled quickly and efficiently. I attended an optometrist appointment yesterday and submitted my claim... honestly fearing how long it may take. WITHIN 24hrs, I had the claim processed and funds directly back into my account. Amazing service!
Canada Life owes me $500 from claims I direct billed last week and that they accepted. The usual timeline for payments is approximately 2 days. It has now been 8 days. I am a sole proprietor and cannot float this debt. I have have been on hold several times this week for long durations but had to hang up because I have to work. I have communicated with my clients that until Canada Life fixes their "technical difficulty" I they will have to use some other method of payment.
The status of my claim submission shows PAID but no pay received. The Chat Service is a ghost town. Getting disconnected after 30 minutes of wait. After two days in a row waiting on the phone for 1 hour, I got disconnected with an automated service "we are experiencing technical difficulties".
Disgraceful service. I never experienced this.
I have had the worst experience with CanadaLife. They will do anything to not have to pay. When my company terminated them for the next year of insurance they pulled access to their online portal to make claims in order to make it harder to claim. Then they rejected valid claims by creating delays and asking for additional documentation which was not requested in the original forms. They delayed until the account was closed so they would not have to pay out on valid claims. Their customer service is also trained to delay and defer, hoping that people will tire of escalating. This is awful and really puts people into a challenging situation, where they have paid for a medical service they need and cannot get reimbursed. Please avoid this unethical company.

Have had to make several calls over the past year and have been amazed with how unhappy the staff I've spoken to are. I get a 'one-off' thing, everyone has a bad day at some point, but 4/5 times seems excessive. Between that and all the additional 'hoops' we're made to jump through (I assume, so we just give up and using their benefits), it's become a real displeasure to contact them. I recently went for a root canal, and they were going to pay $1425 of the $1500 procedure (had a pre-assessment). When it came time, my dentist realized the tooth was in worse condition than expected and aborted the procedure part way in. He only charged $500 for what was done, but they would only cover 1/2 of that? So they saved $1000 from his decision to do that, and thanked me by putting it to me for an extra $200. I've been with them for 25+ years now, but they are not the company they were in the past. Unhappy/Rude staff and bad benefits.
