My vehicle was involved in a car vs. pole collision in August. I was woken up in the middle of the night and given this news by police, my partner decided to take my car without asking and fell asleep behind the wheel, totaling my brand-new SUV. I filed a claim within the hour, police file #included. The next day I was contacted by a man who told me I should know in 7-10 business days if they're going to approve the claim. 13 days later I was notified the claim would be approved and had a rental set up while waiting for them to confirm a total loss. 13 days later the rental company tells me insurance was pulling coverage the next business days, which I thought meant they deemed it a loss, I sent TD the bill of sale as I have the depreciation clause, and they requested it the week prior. An hour after sending it in, I was contacted by another rep from TD and told she was special investigations. She made me answer all the same questions again. Multiple times. Questioned my story about being asleep when police arrived and accused me of giving the keys to my boyfriend, tried to say he lives with me as an uninsured driver, then tried to say he was drunk. She tried to say there was no police report in the file, contrary to the prior rep who had the file in front of him in our last call. When I asked how long she would take to do her investigation, she stated it would take as long as it takes for her to be satisfied. I faxed her every document she requested beginning of September, then crickets. She did not return my voicemails or emails for over a month. Last week I had enough and emailed again, my displeasure was quite obvious, I threatened a lawyer if she continued to ignore me. Like magic, 45 minutes later, she calls me. Tells me she has confirmed my story as truthful, and I'll be getting the claim settled... That I would hear from someone on the meritorious team within the next couple of days... 9 days later, and I have yet to have any more contact. All while I'm still paying for my 2024 SUV that I haven't had in 14 weeks as well as paying insurance on it... And paying out of pocket for a rental… My initial 7-10 business days for a decision is currently 14 weeks and counting. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs.
Today, i called to TD insurance to change my car insurance policy and the guy put me on hold from 1 hour and right now I’m writing this review while I’m waiting to connect with the customer care support. Thank you for realizing me that i choose wrong insurance company policy.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I was rear-ended at a red light (no fault) and TD INSURANCE HAS GHOSTED ME. I now have NO CAR, NO RENTAL, NO MONEY, and I am injured. It has been a MONTH since the accident.
After the accident, TD provided a rental car. Policy says $5000 in rental car expenses. They then took 3 weeks to get back to me to tell me that the car was written off. I was offered an insultingly low amount to replace my vehicle (which was completely paid off). I will have to pay out $5000 from my hard-earned savings to get anything close to reliable. I am a paramedic and need reliable transport to/from work in the worst weather conditions with highway driving.
After offering me the insulting claim amount, they gave me 2 DAYS to shop for, buy, insure, and license a new vehicle. They then TOOK MY RENTAL (after less than half of the $5000 amount had been used) and GHOSTED ME. COMPLETELY GHOSTED.
I have gotten NO MONEY AT ALL from TD, and have not been able to get a hold of the adjuster or a manager in over 7 business days (despite multiple calls and emails). I think they have blocked my phone number, or are screening my calls.
I have placed a deposit on a new vehicle, however cannot go pick it up until I pay for it. I cannot pay for it until I receive the claim amount from TD. I am stuck with NO CAR, NO RENTAL, NO MONEY, and NO CONTACT from TD.
Oh and also - when I called the mechanic to go pick up the license plate from the car (the DAY AFTER they told me it would be written off), I was told that TD had already had my car towed to the junkyard A WEEK AGO WITH THE LICENSE PLATE ON IT. So they towed my car to the junkyard a week before they even told me it would be written off, and now I have to pay for and use my time to go get a new license plate.
IS THIS EVEN LEGAL?
HEY TD - CALL ME BACK!!!!!!!!!!
My entire family has been insured with TD (4 cars and 2 houses) for 30 years. Never a claim. And this is how we are treated.
I was in an accident, found to be the other drivers fault. Four days latter the adjuster showed up to view my Vehicle. at this point i thought things are moving smoothly then a month passed and then another... after waiting on hold for hours leaving multiple messages and e mails i received an offer (low) I had to find local adds to prove replacement value. after an additional month after countless calls, waiting on hold and e mails i finally received a reasonable offer. I inquired about buy back and they stated 35% of pay out... I asked for a copy of their policy stating this and wouldn't you know they don't have it on a document. Dealing with your insurance company should not be like dealing with a greasy used car salesmen. After all is said and done i feel like i need to take a shower and find another insurance company fast . My advise is RUN FAST don't let the big bank name fool you. Terrible!
Hard to deal with the long wait times on hold and being left on hold for hours until the phone goes off after three hours.
They ask too many questions. Once at the dealership buying a new car they asked me a bunch of questions like address, birthdate, services I had with them, then what Alumni I was associated with. Well I didn't understand he was asking what University I had gone to. So he wasn't going to give me insurance until the car dealer talked to him. I was quite furious over it at the time.
I find over half the people I eventually get on the phone cannot do their jobs properly and take forever, They insist you listen to long winded statements and give or deny approval. Then insist to go over your policy again and see if you want to change it and even if you say leave it I am in a hurry they say they have to go over it anyways.
I'm done with this place after my car insurance runs out and going with an independent broker for the rest of my life.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I have been on phone for more than one hour and a half to add a new car. You need to change your system and train your employee
They don’t pick up calls no reply to emails and texts. Worst customer service. I called the advisor 5 times a day but no reply.
Avoid TD Insurance at all costs.
I'm tired of waiting close to an hour on hold or getting premium increases just because you change something minor. I'm over 60 years old with a clean driving record and finally fed up with TD Insurance. A manager at TD just told me they are playing catch up due to increased claims and other... They will increase your rates any chance they get.
I made one phone call to another insurance company and saved $800 per year and doubled my liability coverage from 1 million to 2 millions.
Like others, I waited hours to update a phone number. Pathetic customer service experience.
Stay away.

I had an extremely frustrating experience with this TD insurance. From the very beginning, communication was a nightmare. They rarely respond to emails or phone calls, and when they do, it's always with a rude and dismissive tone. Every time I ask for information or clarification, I’m met with vague, unhelpful answers. It's clear that customer service is not a priority here, and it's impossible to get the support I need. I would not recommend them to anyone — it's been nothing but wasted time, money, and frustration.
