Cancelled policy for non-payment - tried to re-instate - they increased quote by $266/mo

by robbytee on May 30, 2024

I was away from home due to family emergency when my insurance pre-auth debits were bouncing. I got charged NSF fee's 10+ times then they cancelled my policy on April 15th for non-payment. When I got home I saw the physical letters, insurance was already cancelled... They didn't call, email or text me when the first payment was missed, I could've fixed the situation. I paid off all the arrears on May 25th and tried to re-instate my insurance, they declined and said to make a new policy. Now non-payment is on my record and Im having harder time getting re-insured. The new quote premium went up by $266/month. I declined and went to a different company.

Im fully G licensed, have no tickets, claims, and never got cancelled for non payment in over 10 years. You clearly dont reward good customers.

Scammers

This is the worst insurance ever, they charged me a good price at 1st got me all happy, then all of a sudden I'm paying more than the quote! I asked for my money back but they said they won't be able to return the money without an investigation because they said I had to submit the driver abstract, that they had and I would have to pay them more because of that, now I'm paying on top of what I paid them in full, plus now they found a way that I pay every month on top of my full payment. Never going with them again, never will I refer anyone! How can we report them?? and sue them?

Overall worst experience!

I don’t usually give reviews but Johnsons left me with an unforgettable bad experience. I just wished I had read the reviews before. After I was told that I was not going to be cover fully on my auto insurance on my brand new vehicle I decided to find another insurance that would cover me fully! Then when I call to cancel they said they were going to charge me $250 for cancellation and then after I cancel they still took the payment out of my account and they said it's going to be refunded to me it's been a month and I haven't seen the refund yet every time I call they gave me wrong information. There's more but it would be too long to write all I have to say is Johnsons Insurance is the worst. I would never recommend anyone to go with this company.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Sold my Suv

Found out a year later that Johnson Insurance was still taking money for my SUV that I sold in May 2019, and won’t pay back what they owe me, said that my husband was supposed to call and cancel, they didn’t tell me that but said it was all takes care of when they talked to me in May 2019.

Loves to take money

It's been like 4 months of fighting with my adjuster that never answers. Plus can't even get back to my lawyer and I have found out that they shorted me a whole month of pay plus some weeks and are in no hurry to help you out if you can't work because of the accident. They love not giving me my income replacement but love still asking for my 200$ Insurance. This company is a joke. I am a good customer that never missed a payment before or after the accident. Still, nothing shows for it. Just a bunch of thieves!

Worst company to deal with

by JoeT on Feb 27, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

WARNING!! DO NOT GET INSURANCE HERE...I got an online quote with this company. Gave them all the needed information. They sent me a package with reasonable rates and an invoice. I called with regard to make a payment but they required way too much information before accepting payment, so I said: never mind the policy, I'll stay with who I'm already with. They continued to demand payment and I called them and explained why I did not continue with them. Now they have collection agencies after me and they also put a non-payment of premiums on my record so I have a hard time getting quotes elsewhere. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE CROOKS!!!...

Poor Auto&home insurance

Agent penalized me for cancelling after the renewal date, which was a lot more than expected. Again called to confirm cancellation and got different numbers from another agent. For my satisfaction, they told me it’s the date when you cancel the insurance matters and the premium but we can’t calculate, it’s the system that tells us. Do not fall prey to this bad service where initially they give less amount and later rip off customers.

Travel Insurance

It appears that I was double billed and this company since August 2018 owes me well over a $1018.00 and I have attempted several times to have this issue rectified to no avail. Each time I call I get a different agent and they won't put me through to the agent I was dealing with and so the process starts all over again. I have been told numerous times that my account is with the finance people and they are creating a cheque for me? It has now been over 2 months and still no resolve. The last time I called I asked for the claims agent manager only to be told he was gone for the day much like my previous claims agent I've spoken with. Small claims court, here we come! If you are smart - don't deal with these individuals!

Hidden fees and constant scams

by E.Boyd on Aug 25, 2018

Feel like being completely scammed? This insurance company might be right for you! They’ll offer extremely high insurance with lots of fine print additional costs that won’t be mentioned over the phone when you additionally sign up! Feel like escaping the hell hole that you made the mistake of falling into? You can’t! They’ll charge you for the next month’s insurance (even though you won’t be covered that month) and then return SOME* of it back after 3-4 WEEKS (*ofc this is after the penalty fee they never mentioned will be deducted!—mine was $140 for cancelling it ONE MONTH before my policy expired). These losers just can’t wait to steal your money, especially if you tell them over the phone you’re a student and the money they’re taking away from you is going towards the food you need to eat that month!

Poor customer service

by Ali on Apr 6, 2018

Last month I inquire about the penalty if I cancel my insurance with them and the customer service agent told me it will be $20 to $30 and I asked them to confirm me twice before cancelling and after cancelling today I was charged $216. When I call their customer service today their agent told me that total penalty will be $250 and rest of the money they will deduct in few days. I told that agent that before cancelling the insurance I asked your staff and the agent didn't inform me that in total I have to pay $250 for cancellation. In return, I get the response from that agent that we are sorry for inconvenience. Their customer service agents have poor knowledge, what will their 4 words (sorry) give me in return???
