The Worst Company Ever!

I was recently in a car accident of which I was at fault. The Gore representative (Samantha) at first was so kind, understanding and accommodating. But that quickly changed. The minute their representative/mechanic went to appraise the damage to my car. I was notified on Friday that they had declared it a total write-off. I was offered a low ball price and told I must remove my belongings and sign it over to them by Wed. Also, that the rental vehicle had to be back on Wed. But the settlement check wouldn't be available to me for 2 days if sent to my Broker or 7-10 if they sent it to me. My response: Samantha, Well I suppose Gore made the decision on what to do with the vehicle I bought and paid for, which for the record I paid $3,339.00 and still owe money on. That's mighty kind of you. I can't help but notice how sympathetic and compassionate you were earlier this week. And how understanding and patient I was. Boy, has your tone EVER changed. Yes, that's fine. Thank you immensely Gore Mutual Insurance for making the decision on what to do with a car you do not own or owe money for. Also, I would like to thank you as I do not own a credit card and therefore I cannot rent another vehicle after the 12th. I recently got a new job and am still in the probationary period, without a vehicle to get me there I'll be fired. You REALLY expect someone to find, buy and insure a vehicle in three days? And you do so BEFORE delivering a check? How do you sleep at night I wonder? Lovely service, Gore, top notch
I had three separate claims with gore and NONE of them were paid. I had a hit and run that I found out who hit me, and two separate thefts of tools that were listed on the policy. They refused all three claims saying that if i wanted reimbursed for the damages i should sue the parties that caused the loss. DUH!! I bought insurance so I would be protected without using our useless legal system!! Also they doubled my truck policy when they found out i was working in another province. STAY AWAY!!!!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I got next years insurance paperwork recently and not only was the rates lower(!!!!) but also when i saw an error on the sheet I phoned their "billing" team and the service was amazing. So friendly and really understood what I was telling them. Totally recommend using them.
My mom was with this company for more then 12 years and when we got our driver licenses, she inquired about quotes in order to add us to the insurance. They came up with a quote of 6,890$ a month. It was too expensive, but the broker absolute insisted we would be added as "excluded" drives. That's not a problem, their prices are to high and we literally never drive. The next bill my mom received was 359$ when she usually paid 90$ a month. We contacted them for further explanation, and they actually changed my mom to a "high risk" status since there was a possibility other house members drove the car even though all members are officially excluded. That made no sense. But it shows what kind of filthy scums these brokers in Ottawa are. I highly recommend you go with Belair or CAA. They are fantastic with us now.
I have had a great experience with Gore these past three years. They took me on as a new customer in 2012. At the renewal at 2014 I received a substantial discount and was given top rating at this 2015 review. Thanks!
My gramma added me (a 30 year old man with clean record) to her Insurance policy as a second driver. She was told by the broker that her rate would not increase. When she received the bill a month later, it had increased to over $250 per month from $104. She inquired about the increase and was told I (with no claims or tickets) am a high risked driver and must pay high risk rates. I was unable to get in touch with the broker during regular business hours. I called the company I was previously covered with and got a quote. What a surprise!! $138 a month for the exact same car and none of this "high risk" malarky! My gramma promptly called to cancel her plan. Well all of a sudden they were able to pull some strings and come up with a new rate... $138 a month! Obviously we severed ties with these people. My Gramma is in her 80's and very innocent. I would compare Gore insurance to the kind of people that steal the poppy donation box. If you have an elderly family member insured with this company, please make sure they are not being taken advantage of.
They have me a quote for $115 and were supposed to take it on monthly basis but instead they charged me $195 and took 6 months in one shot...I was shocked when I saw my statement. The didn't even bother notifying about any of this! Brutal....
Most disrespectful company ever. A family member past away without a will. We were trying to do the right thing and continue to pay his insurance but to lower to just fire and theft. We have the death certificate and everything but because there is no appointed administrator they refuse to do this. They said if it wasn't paid they would cancel the insurance and send a final bill. What company does this? During these hard Times do money hungry companies make it a prerequisite to make things hard on these people.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
We went with a different insurer for $3,500/less per annum. They charged us exactly twice what a monthly premium would be for cancelling, the brokers selling their product are beyond bottom-feeders, the company must pay decent commission. Not to mention, the first and last a company charges you when you sign - they kept it, no record of receiving it from the broker, broker swears they submitted it. 6 months for $200 - must be how they make their money. Will never deal with them or a broker who sells their product again. How does one cancel a policy a month prior to renewal and owe a month and a half premium. Insurance is paid upfront. Total crooks.

They’re absolutely terrible. The worst company I have ever witnessed. Ok, so where to start... I’m 20 years old and I’m from Jersey (natural-born American citizen) and I recently moved to Ontario to be with my fiance (natural-born Canadian citizen). I needed to get my car registered ASAP so I wound up looking for the cheapest auto insurance I could, seeing as my fiancé and I already had a lot to pay for and things were/are tight. I go through a broker who shows me a list of quotes, with Gore being the cheapest at $185. I went with it, sent the broker all my info (including all of my New Jersey information) and my application was processed and approved. There was never an issue until the weeks/months following. My broker gives me temporary slips over email so I can get my car registered and drive legally while I wait for my official documents. (Keep in mind that yes, I do have an Ontario driver’s license). And boy do I wait. And wait. And wait. The temporary slips are good for a month, in which I should receive my documents in the mail within that time. But I never did. I emailed the broker who told me she didn’t know what was going on and would email me a new set of temporary slips while I waited (again). The next month goes by and my broker tells me that my rate went up and neither she nor I was ever informed! It was around the end of August of 2019. My fiancé and I then come to find out that the rate went up from $185 a month to $309! It’s completely unaffordable for us. All because they “didn’t want to honour my Jersey license”. They knew about it. They processed and approved my application with my Jersey license and my Ontario license and yet, somehow it was an issue? So, within the two months of waiting, this is what I get dropped on me. My partner and I called Gore themselves a few times, but each time, they shot us down saying that we couldn’t talk to them and that we have to talk to our broker. But our broker was lost as well, seeing as she had no idea what was going on either. So... no communication from Gore to neither me nor the broker. Needless to say, we cancelled on the spot. We were told that there would be no cancellation fee and that we were cancelled a pro-rata rather than a short rate. They were playing at being compassionate. I would’ve accepted had I not seen a tiny little detail. They were trying to charge us $139 for God knows what and attempted to make us pay the first month of September (this month) on August 28th. We cancelled our policy on the 23rd of August. So, they tried to take an early payment for a cancelled policy and to make it worse, it was at a rate that was not agreed upon initially. So now, they want us to pay $448, yet in reality, I should be only paying for the two months that I was insured. So around $370 or their pro-rata amount $309. Not the extra $139 I’d never seen or heard about. And besides... if my insurance was fully legal and official, why wasn’t I making any payments during July and August? Did they expect me to pay the $185/309 along with the two months all in one pop in September? Then I would’ve paid close to $700 which is nowhere near affordable! TL;DR Went with Gore because they were affordable initially. Because of scarce communication and constantly being screwed over(raised rate without notice, no emails or calls, and not giving me any official documentation), I cancelled. Now they want money they aren’t owed and are trying to scam me. This company is borderline fraudulent. STAY AWAY!
