My car was flooded, and they did not total my car against the mechanics advise. I fixed the car and I had the same mechanical problem coming up afterward. It took them 3 months to reply to my request for a call back. I'm about to lose 20k car and the insursnce is not there to help when they supposed to, so they are not an actual insurance.
After 23 years with Aviva and never had a claim, I was in a bad accident by a careless driver. They put me through so much, not believing my injuries even when my doctors reports confirmed my injuries. Payout after 2 years didn't cover physio. Aviva is Terrible.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
This Aviva car insurance is such a waste. I had an accident and I requested for claim. It’s been more than 4 weeks now, and they are not giving any decision on the claim. Adjuster is not answering the call and even not properly responding back to the emails. To the every single email you send them she would just send you a statement “your claim is still under review we don’t know if we are going to accept it or deny it” this is a clear mental harassment. I have my car in storage with repair shop and I have rental car with me. If you want to save your mental health don't go with Aviva.
I received a bill related to my auto accident and I sent the info to my adjuster the same day. I did not hear back at all for 9 days, in which I left emails and a voicemail. The bill was due the next day, so I called in to the generic line and let them know my situation. They were able to get a hold of the adjuster while I was on hold within minutes. I then sent the details to the person I spoke with on the phone, and they sorted it out, not my adjuster. My adjuster then wanted me to call in to the payee of the bill to let them know why the payment is going to be late when it was 100% on their fault.
I received a different bill after the above situation. I sent to my adjuster the same day. Once again, I did not hear from them at all. I put in a complaint after 6 days of not hearing back to complain about the first situation along with this one. The customer care got back to me within 1 day, but I still did not hear back from my adjuster. I then heard back from my adjuster the next day (8 days after my initial email) which I can only assume was because of the complaint.
They say adjusters should reply within 24-48 hours. This is not the case. My adjuster literally did not return any communication until I sent a complaint in, and that was on the 2nd occasion of them not returning an email or call.
When I asked to see if they could provide anything for the complete lack of communication, they referred me to the ombudsman, which this clearly does not apply. The adjuster obviously doesn't care about their clients if they couldn't take a few minutes to let me know they've received the information I sent them. I've been a customer for ~13 years and will be changing insurance companies.
Was provided an insurance quote for three auto policies on July 9th, 2024 that I agreed to. The auto insurance was to be effective Aug 6 at 12:01 am. On Friday, Aug 2nd (the Friday of the August long weekend) I received an email from the broker at RH Insurance, informing me that Aviva would not provide collision or liability for me son. Claims history was known to all parties.
Unless you want a company to renege on a quote, be provided such information at the last minute, I would avoid all three of the parties listed above.
Very poor customer service. You’re lucky to hear from them once a week, dragging the situation out and absolutely low ball you. They sell you 1500 in car rental but can’t use it all cause as soon as they send you an offer they end all outgoing money in one week. Even if you’re unsatisfied. They also make it so hard to get a hold of that you just run out of time to settle. I run a business and will be sharing my experience with all business platforms that I am a part of so they don’t have my experience.
While I was the policyholder, they never made it clear what their cancellation policies were and decided to charge me whatever the hell they wanted without even an explanation why when I switched my insurance. They are not transparent, and their customer service is horrible, and very long response time to e-mails. Very unprofessional.
I was told to sign some cancellation forms and that the cancellation documents will arrive in a few days, yet when they were sent DAYS LATER I received threatening words saying that it will "stay on my record" even though they were completely quiet for a few days. Don't be tempted by the rates that aren't even that much cheaper than more reputable brands--they are waiting to snipe your money.
I've never seen an insurance company work like this. I got a quick quote online, price was good, so I called. Waited 15 minutes, got through to a CSR, she was very kind, I spent the better part of 2 hours answering questions (house + 3 cars), she confirmed pricing asked that I send info by e-mail, so far so good.
I don't hear back for 1 week, so I email back asking for confirmation of contract. I get an email reply asking for me to call them.
Again, wait 20+ minutes for someone to pick up. Now I'm speaking to a different CSR AND SHE MAKES ME GO OVER EVERYTHING I HAD DONE ALREADY WITH CSR 1. As I write this my phone is showing 1:51:58 INSANE!!!
I never ever recommend this insurance for anyone, totally irresponsible, without any reason premium increased too high, so decided to change this company for that we asked for an experience letter.
I had a claim 7 years ago that was a hit-and-run, there was witness police sent the right report, surprisingly on this experience letter Avila mentioned that that incident was totally my fault and I lost control… so ridiculous… how can we trust this people.
Never recommend this insurance. There customers service very poor, they don’t know what they are doing and what to do.
I don’t want to give even 1 star.

I have been with aviva for about 5 years. This is the first time ever I got into an accident and they treated me very badly. Customer service is just horrible. Some of the employees should be in FBI the way they ask questions. I wasn’t even at fault and my belongings got damaged and of course insurance has to pay for the damages. But they asked me 10 times how this and that happened, sent all the proofs but still they were not satisfied, and they were acting like a cry baby and were dying to pay the damages around $700. I mean we pay high-end insurance not for you guys to ask these nonsense questions. Employees act like they own this company, and they have to pay outta their pockets. 4 members of my family have insurance with this company, and we all will take our business somewhere else. Will never ever recommend anyone to go with this insurance.
Moreover, they don’t even care about the reviews, as I read people aren’t satisfied with the services provided by them.
