TD is quite simply the worst provider I’ve had the misfortune to deal with. They are chronically understaffed, ill-trained, and spout lies to their clients like the rest of us breathe oxygen. After the Calgary hail storm, my claim was mishandled from the word go. My rental car was forgotten, the claim was shuffled from one buffoon to the next, and my vehicle couldn’t be kept track of to save my life. TD offered little more than vague excuses and non-committal rhetoric to avoid taking responsibility for their monumental failures during this entire process. The only reason I’m not cancelling my policy before it’s termination date is to avoid giving these clowns any more money after they failed to provide the service I’ve paid for thus far. If you have any sense, please learn from my mistake and avoid this company like the proverbial plague and take your needs somewhere else. I pity the poor person who has to deal with this den of crooks and liars.
I just want to share my experience with TD Meloche Monnex. May 2016 my bumper was damaged by someone trying to back into space beside mine. Luckily it was caught on dashcam and was able to read the licence plate and report to police. File claim online and got an appointment at the TD repair center. As the repair center was not familiar with my car (Tesla), I was sent to a special repair shop. I was offered a loaner vehicle but did not use it as I had another vehicle to use. The repair was done within a week and payment directly with TD. Everything went smoothly and no hassle.
After the accident, and reporting it to the police. I was unsure about how the claims process would go. Now that it is done, I can tell you it could not have gone smoother. The newly built site in Oakville was warm and welcoming. We were assessed and out the door with a rental in less than 30 minutes. The staff was approachable, informed and kind. When I returned to pick up my car, we were pleased to see the repair was done almost like brand new. Leaving the lot, I thought to myself, this how auto insurance claims should always be handled.
I’ll start off with what seems to be the common trend, and that is the wait times are extremely long. I’ve been waiting for 2 hours and 20 minutes so far, but typically I’ve waited for an hour. So this is a record. Is there anyone working? They need to hire more people if everyone is really busy. And like others have said, they should tell you what number you are in the queue and call you back when it’s your turn like phone companies do. However, the real reason why I am posting this is because of the unprofessional customer service I have had with the adjusters for my claim. I was in a car accident earlier this year. My adjuster called me and left me a voicemail at 1 pm while I was at work (they have a record of your profession by the way so why would she call me during the way when I’m working?). I tried calling her back and left several voicemails and tried calling the claims department to which said “she’s been trying to get a hold of you. She called you on Monday.” She called me Once. I kept calling for 3 Weeks and when I tried emailing her to ask what’s the current status of my claim, she said “I don’t have info on your policy. You have to contact customer service.” That was completely irrelevant! I was even referred to her supervisor, who was just as impossible to get a hold of. Fortunately, after many calls, during the fourth week after my accident, I got through to a girl in the claims department who was so much help and filed my paperwork, who, by the way, was talking to me from Nova Scotia while I was in Ontario. Towards the end of my claim, my first adjuster finally emailed me to send her my documents, after 4 weeks. Sadly, just as I thought the nightmare was over, something else came up. I had used a rental car after my accident for one month since my car was a write-off and it was included in my insurance policy. I returned the car after and thought everything was fine. Last month, I got a notification that over $1400 has been withdrawn from my Visa. It was taken from the car rental company. I immediately called them after work and get through to a lady in accounting service. She tells me that she had been trying to get a hold of my adjuster from the insurance company and her manager because They Did Not pay the Rental Car... She emailed them saying that if they didn’t pay, she was going to have to take it out from My account and I’d have to deal with the issue. My accident was in January, and I had the accident until the end of February, so for 4 Months, TD Meloche did not pay the rental car company, and now I have to deal with it and wait on the phone to get a money transfer. And by the way, I’m still waiting for my licence plate to get released from the car dump (I did not get to remove it). This is another issue that I get to deal with. I’ve been waiting for 3 hours now since I started writing this review. The only reason I’m still with TD Meloche is because of their low rates and their insurance packages.
Worst customer service ever, no one on his desk and always leaving useless voicemails, by the end, nobody will call you back. Three adjustors were working on the same claim at the same time, which makes it confusing who to deal with. They are just bad and have internal communication issues with their managers, so they will let you waiting for long till they will reach their supervisors to resolve claim's issues. They asked to return the rental car before closing the claim and before getting the car refund, I did so because I wanted to get rid of them and the claim asap but it still not fair.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
First of all...stay far away from this company! We had a small accident a few weeks ago that caused minor surface damage to the rear of our vehicle. We got our own repair estimate for $2500. We took it to their guys so that we could file our claim. We waited over THREE WEEKS for them to get back to us after numerous follow-ups, only to find out work hadn't even started on our vehicle. The repair shop blamed the insurance company for not sending paperwork, and TD Meloche blamed the repair shop for being backed-up with work. We, finally, escalated it to a manager. Got a call back the next day to tell us that the vehicle was considered a write-off. We're still waiting to find out our settlement offer, apparently, there is no one we can speak to on it, and we just have to keep waiting for some indefinite time. We bought our vehicle just three years ago for $11K. And they're writing it off for approx. $3k of damage? Why even have insurance if they can just choose to write it off for whatever they want and not repair it when you file a claim. This has been a complete nightmare I wouldn't wish to anyone. Oh...and we had no rental vehicle coverage on our policy, so all this time have been down a vehicle which I understand was our choice not to take it. But you also don't expect an insurance company to take three weeks just to START processing your claim. I tried to ask for a rental vehicle at this point but of course, the answer was no.
Totalled my leased 2015 Corvette Z51, it was almost a 6 figure car and only took about a month and a bit to receive my claim. Didn't even realized the coverage I had (full replacement cost value and grand touring package), they could've lied and told me I didn't have either of those and could've gotten away with it. They set me up right away with a rental vehicle because of the grand touring package and guided me through the whole situation. They were very good at keeping me up to date with emails and occasional phone calls. The only problem was if I missed any of their calls or needed to ask a question, the wait time was over an hour hold over the phone... When I first crashed my vehicle, I was for sure expecting to pay the rest of the vehicle out of my pocket, but in the end, the vehicle always paid off and I received close to $40,000!! I was so worried too when I read the reviews dealing with TD, because of such negative reviews and low ratings. I realized realistically people that had good experiences don't post good reviews because they already got what they want, it's only the people that had a bad experience and want to bash on the company that will take the time to rant about it.
Was in a no-fault claim. Car wrote off because they valued car incorrectly comparing to the wrong vehicle. After three days told to return rental per 'my' policy, even though other insurance covered it. No car for months, as a result, lost a job, missed mortgage payment, no access to the grocery store as live 35 minutes from town. 2 months isolated without transportation. TD would not advocate for me or cover me and this was after 30 years of paying into car insurance with no claims.
I will NEVER get insurance from them again!! Every time I call, I’m waiting minimum an hour. I’ve had to call MANY times for a rental car that I was told “will be covered until the claim is done”, the rental company was calling every day asking if I was bringing it back. I was charged for another month of insurance and I don’t even have a vehicle anymore due to the accident. Not at all organized and very unprofessional. They need to get their act together.
After paying for rental these scammers won’t give you a rental and when getting insurance they will ask if you want rental. I don’t care if I’m at fault and you refuse my claim. I am entitled to a rental because I’m paying my money. When it’s time to withdraw my money every month I don’t call and ask you’ll to loan me the money I pay my hard earn money... it’s high time something be done about those scammers. Only insurance who will have a claim in for months. And only calls at night and always in a hurry you can tell a lot by these scammers
