4.7 out of 5 stars
I was a client for over 40 years. Not a lot of claims and overall experience was ok.
Reason for cancelling - I left 3 messages and never got a call back. When I cancelled I never got a call as to why I cancelled,
If you think you are getting a competitive rate because you belong to an association... forget it.
They value new customers more than loyal long term customers,
I saved $1500 on car and home when I changed!!!! Don't think they are giving you good rates if you are a long term loyal customer with next to no claims.
my lesson-always shop around!!!!!!
I've had my car insured with TD Insurance Meloche Monnex for 3 years and I'm just renewing for the 4th year. My premiums have been increasing by almost 10% per year. After the 2nd year they convinced me to download the TD My Advantage App on my cellphone which tracks my driving qualities and gives a score which can result in a discount of up to 25% on my premium. At the end of the 3rd year I had a score of 92 and a projected discount of 24%. When my policy renewal arrived in the mail, my premium increased by 8%. I called them and argued with the agent as well as his supervisor about where is my 24% discount. They said that the discount was already applied. They're saying that my premium increased by 42% and with the 24% discount I end up with an 8% increase.
This is all baloney. None of these calculations are provided on paper. If they were serious, all this would be shown on the policy renewal. It's a fraud.
After 17 years with the company, and part of a professional group that supposedly had a discount with TD, I was shocked to receive my annual renewal with a 29% increase.
Nothing has changed with me in the past year and so I called to ask why the increase.
I was told that all policies were affected by general conditions in the industry and there was nothing other than that they could identify in my situation.
Enough is enough and I am changing insurers. I have contacted a few and have found more competitive rates at all of them.
One in particular will take me back to the level of premium that I paid last year. That's a 29% reduction from the TD renewal quote.
Goodbye TD.
After a month of trying to claim $169.00 yes $169.00. for a windshield replacement on my 2015 Mercedes 550 SL, they refused to pay.
I had checked with the Mercedes dealer as well as a dealer I usually take my car to for serving. On what the cost would be to replace my Windshield, both dealers said around $2600.00. These quotes were submitted to TD Insurance. TD came back saying they would replace the windshield through their own connection and it would not be an original from Mercedes. I would not accept having it replaced with something I wasn't
satisfied with. After my $1000.00 deduction, TD was willing to pay $169.00, I had the replacement done by my dealer for $2600.00 paid it myself, and then claimed the $169..00 from TD. Believe it or not, they refused to pay me $169 because they didn't do the work. I cancelled both my car insurance policies with them that I've had for over 40 years at around $5000.00 per year and no claims.
The vehicle was stolen, advised TD the same day. Found out later that they continued charging us for the vehicle insurance for months afterward. Even an SAAQ receipt from a few days later indicating that the vehicle was no longer allowed to be on the road was not sufficient to cancel the insurance! TD will not refund our money for the useless insurance unless we provide a special document from the SAAQ. First, we hear of it months after the fact. What an incompetent and obtuse organization.
Terrible insurance company!
My rates were raised by 30% in one year for absolutely no reason!
You have one agent tell you one thing and another something different. Many screws up after screw up and representatives from different areas of the country not understanding the local situation you live in. Use a local broker... Run as fast as you can. I spend 3 hours yesterday to get a quote only to find out today it was incorrect.
Used their online quotation system. the cost was going under $1000. Then contacted an agent and was told the annual cost would be $2400. The funny thing (not really) is that I have been a customer for almost 45 years. Am now looking some-where else. Pure scam.
Wish I could give them zero stars.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Extremely unprofessional and rude. My first interaction with my adjuster was his refusing to send me my documents in English. He then took 10 days to return numerous emails\calls, while his team manager just choose to never respond. Once he finally called me back, it was to tell me he WAS NOT approving my car rental reimbursement, even though it is on my policy (I had already used and returned the car at this point). Once I expressed my disappointment and asked for his team manager's number, he started to shout at me, saying she will say exactly what he says. It is now been 11 days of me trying to get in contact with a manager, with of course no response. This company isn't even worthy of a one-star rating. Not only do you have to deal with the outcome of an accident to have customer service of this quality is unacceptable.

I can't speak to other people's experiences with Meloche Monnex, but I've never had issues with them. I've been in a few fender benders, but each time I phoned in my claim all they asked for was the police report number and what collision shop I wanted to go to, and when I arrived at the garage an hour later, the paperwork had already been completed and a rental car was waiting for me. Several years ago, I had the misfortune of striking a pedestrian. The company hired a first class law firm that managed to get the case dismissed without a trial, without mediation, without even having to give a deposition. And in most cases, including that last one, the deductible was waived. They're not quite the least expensive, but I trust them for both home and auto. I'd recommend them to anyone. I've always received white glove treatment, and I appreciate that.
