I was honestly paying insurance fees for them for about 20 years. I had two floodings both were not my fault. The first deductible was $500, the second one already 5000. When I renewed policy the broker did NOT even mention such a drastic increase of deductible. It was done in very cunning and mean. As a result, I have to pay from my pocket $5000 to fix the damage. Do you need such a "wonderful" insurance company?
Had house insurance with them for a number of years. Thought it was a little expensive, but it was close and convenient. This year renewal cost doubled. Over $2,000 more than competitors. Gave them the chance to review the costs and after a “thorough review of my insurance needs”, they dropped the cost to be in line with everyone else. Three months after the policy was paid in full, they demanded an additional $2,600, more than their original quote. After dealing with the agent, as the manager is uninterested in even talking to me, they adjusted the demand to $1,400 and sent me a letter stating my policy I paid for 3 months earlier was cancelled and I had an outstanding amount owing to renew the current policy. I have heard from many people in Langley who no longer do business with Westland that this is how they operate. Give you a quote, take your money and then 3 or 4 months later send you a bill for double what you were quoted. Do not do business with such untrustworthy and devious people.

We had home insurance for one year, and although we thought the cost was expensive we decided to renew for the following year. We paid for the year in full. Approx. 4 months later they contacted us and asked for an additional $400. We were very upset because the cost was already really high, and we had paid for the year in full. Finally, after a lot of arguing back and forth, we agreed to pay an additional $200. Year 3, we found a new insurer, same coverage, $1000 less. We sent an email letting them know we will not be renewing and we have coverage elsewhere. They insisted that we attend the office and sign paperwork to cancel. They called repeatedly. This harassment continued for several weeks. Yet, someone we knew forgot to renew and they cancelled his insurance promptly. To us, they kept insisting that by law, unless we sign specific papers, they cannot cancel the insurance coverage.
This year I shopped around. Got comparable homeowners coverage from Squamish Agency for 2/3 what Westland Pemberton was charging and I don't have to deal with the arrogant attitude. Win Win for me.
