More than 20 years with Monnex Insurance (cars and home), before the money-hungry TD, took them over. I called to discuss my renewal - very long wait time just to answer the phone (more than 45 min), and then they intentionally drop me after a got through and verified myself etc. They will not call you back (the cut was intentional) - TD keep increasing year over year, and I keep reducing my coverage to save. Now I have bare-bones coverage, zero climes car and hose, and they still increasing the premiums. I can not find any justification, except that TD is just a money-hungry, and its time for me to look for another co,
Last week I tried to obtain a TD Insurance car quote online about 7 times, each of them ending "we are experiencing issues..., contact us 1-877...) So I called and ended up listening to the hold music for 2h 48m for TD Insurance Call Centre agent. After I got a quote, I was given a case number and was instructed to call back with a VIN number once I have the car. I asked whether there is another number for already existing pre-filled quotes and learnt that no, I would have to call 1-877 again and wait for over 2 hours to get a policy. Today, I spent 3h 56 minutes from 12:03pm to 3:59pm listening sickening music that makes you brain dead, after which the call dropped. As I need to pick up my car today and I do not have another policy, I called back. It has been already 2h 12m as I am on the second bout of sickening hold music, completely drained after the current total 6 h 8 minutes hold. And I don't know how it will go once I reach 4 hours again.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Impossible to contact this company and the online system is a nightmare! Go elsewhere. Imagine having an accident and not being able to contact, imagine buying a new car and you can't contact... it happens all the time! I can't wait till my contract is up I am going to-another company...
I've been a long time customer of Meloche Monnex... Well, now they call it TD Direct Insurance. It has really gone downhill over the years. You used to be able to phone in and reach an agent pretty quickly. But sadly in the last 2 to 3 years, things have become horrible. The website to do so-called self-service is a joke (free-form text you type in... and wait for an answer?). And I've waited 45 minutes on hold, I've waited 25 minutes, I've waited an hour and given up. How can one plan to make a change if you don't know if you need 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 50 minutes, 1 hour on hold, then a further 30 to 40 minutes talking to the agent? Just sad how low on staff they are now. Planning a change.
My 82-year-old mom and I have been waiting on the phone for countless hours for several days to try to cancel her car insurance (she no longer wants to drive). It's impossible to get through to anyone (the phone just hangs up after hours of waiting!) There is something wrong with a company that doesn't hire the right amount of staff - completely short-sighted! It is so disrespectful toward the customer and a complete disregard for our valuable time. Does the policy automatically renew and there is no way to cancel? This doesn't seem right!!! TD = Total Disaster!
I was with TD auto insurance for over 7 years in both Quebec and Ontario (Gatineau/Ottawa). The wait-times on phone to make any changes or add any services takes forever. Also, I found from a friend that I am paying an exceptionally high premium of over $1000 more per year compared to other insurance providers when my car and house combined.
TD Insurance is just a huge scam, PLEASE FINISH READING MY REAL PERSONAL STORY AS A NEW CUSTOMER, IT WILL 100% HELP YOU CHOOSE TO GO WITH THEM OR NOT. The only difference between it and a black shop on the street is they are bigger and have a longer wait time for you to get fed up and bare with the scam by force. Ever since I opened an account with TD Insurance as a customer, which I joined with my wife who has existing accounts with a car and home, I have to call three times and wait for 1.5hours each time to let their supervisor apply my deserved discounts that should be applied without calling, then after getting a mere 15% discount, then my wife begin to get letters from them every single month, simply with the title 'Change on your premiums' without telling us any details whatsoever in the letters, her premium before I even joined was around $1800, then after we called it applied a discount to $1500, we thought it finally over, then out of nowhere, she got the following letter a second month in notifying her new annual premium changed to little over $2000 all the sudden without us doing anything! Or being told by anything! What their customer service tells you or? I ended up losing more than what they promised to discount for. I'm regretting so much to switch from to TD.
You call and hold four hours and hours. They do not care to give you a callback solution to avoid hanging on. I am disillusioned by this company and how it manages its customer communications. Totally incompetent in my view.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Unprofessional service provided on many different levels including management! Incompetent staff who lack the knowledge to provide adequate reasoning for increasing premiums every year for the past 10 years! The company's culture is to train staff to not provide any customer service and to be extremely unprofessional and condescending! Next to impossible to get a hold of someone in the call center unless you are willing to be on the phone for hours listening to their hideous music while on hold! God forbid if you make a claim with them as they will make the process nothing but unbearable, complicated and inconvenient. Stay away from this poorly managed organization at all costs!

I was in an accident, found to be the other drivers fault. Four days latter the adjuster showed up to view my Vehicle. at this point i thought things are moving smoothly then a month passed and then another... after waiting on hold for hours leaving multiple messages and e mails i received an offer (low) I had to find local adds to prove replacement value. after an additional month after countless calls, waiting on hold and e mails i finally received a reasonable offer. I inquired about buy back and they stated 35% of pay out... I asked for a copy of their policy stating this and wouldn't you know they don't have it on a document. Dealing with your insurance company should not be like dealing with a greasy used car salesmen. After all is said and done i feel like i need to take a shower and find another insurance company fast . My advise is RUN FAST don't let the big bank name fool you. Terrible!
