I submitted a claim for a flight delay of 26 hours for emergency purchases as we had no luggage, the total claim is less than $500.
4 months later I am still waiting for the claim to be processed and paid, Email follow-ups go unanswered, and prior calls hold time was more than 1 hour, today I spent over 2 hours on hold simply trying to get an update with no success.
I pay for my Avion RBC Credit card so I can enjoy the peace of mind that I have insurance, I would hate to have a medical emergency and have to rely on Allianz to respond! I will cancel my RBC cards and choose a bank card that does not use Allianz as their Insurance provider.
What a terrible system, I have been harassed by a travel insurance recording that continues to tell me I can buy my travel insurance online. However, did you know you can't but multi-day 30+? That's why I'm calling, do you think you could set up a button like "press # 4 if this is 30+ days insurance!!! I set up three callbacks and not one call back! Most ridicules way of telling me "my call is important to us". Totally intolerable! Waste of time!
Bought travel insurance from them for my mother. Right now waiting 4 months for a decision. Customer service is useless - outsourced students from some 3rd world country. Avoid these scammers!
Worst insurance ever in my life. My claim of delayed flight didn’t get reimbursement. Please don’t take policy from this company . Thanks
We made a cancellation which was handled by Allianz Global Assistance, to recover our flight costs after my wife had an operation and treatment for cancer. All this happened months after we booked the flight but during the 10 months, it took Allianz to process our claim they reviewed her family doctor records and discovered that she'd contacted him for a stomach ache prior to booking our flight. They denied our claim basically saying that we should have known from the stomach ache that she had cancer and not proceeded with the booking. They also claimed that one of the surgeons told us not to go on our holiday. This is true, but it happened after her surgery, two months after we'd booked the flight. So they used information out of context to justify their denial. If the travel insurance benefit of this card is important to you, maybe consider a different card.
I've had issues with an allergic reaction in Thailand. I was done with the doctor within 2 hours. I had to call Canada and then contact their Thai connection so they can pay the hospital. After that long process, they sent the wrong amount of money. So the process needed to start all over again. 12 hours it took. So my next visit, I pay out of pocket. Keep telling them to only contact me by email. So I receive sooo many emails telling me that they weren't able to reach me by phone and to call a number. I sent them all the paperwork answered their questions and several emails later I'm told I need to submit through their portal. I don't speak thai. Horrible experience made the worst by them. Skip them, go with someone else. Very unprofessional!
I have been a loyal RBC client for over 10 years, but I am extremely disappointed with Allianz Global Assistance Travel Insurance. Filing a claim for stolen parcels was a complete waste of time. After months of review, they informed me I wouldn’t be covered. Why is RBC even partnered with this company? This insurance is advertised as a perk of my RBC Visa, but it feels more like a hassle than a benefit. It’s incredibly frustrating and not what I expected from RBC.
WestJet Airlines has hit a new low in service with having Allianz Global as their travel insurance provider. Not only would Allianz not pay out on purchased insurance for a cancelled (actually a re-booked return) flight, their explanation note made absolutely no sense. "No benefit is payable for used expenses"? Speaking with an 'agent' to follow up on the explanation resulted in only more aggravation, having to resubmit all the information again through a ridiculously cumbersome online claim process, and getting absolutely nowhere - including no reimbursement of the claim for a big difference in flight cost.
Excellent response to my canceled travel plans. My claim was processed in a few weeks, and I was reimbursed for the amount I claimed. A smooth and satisfying process. Thank you.
I purchased travel insurance from these guys and had to cancel my flight a few weeks after. After calling them and waiting on hold for an hour and a half I was finally able to get someone to send me the paperwork to file my claim. (There was a ton of paperwork to btw) I sent it all on the same day and just got an automated response saying they had received it. A month later I emailed them to check that they had got everything okay and if it was still being processed...no reply. Two weeks later I called them and was on hold for almost 2 hours. A guy picked up and asked for my name and case number which I gave and he put me on hold again. Almost an hour later, the call disconnected. This is the company that airlines are recommending through their website?? Also, the website that they try and send you to doesn't really work either... Keeps sending you in circles.
Wish I had read these reviews before wasting any money on travel insurance that does absolutely nothing.
