If I could give them a zero I would. We had group benefits and every single claim I made was denied. They asked for receipts, so I provided receipts. Then they denied them again asking for proof of payment. That was submitted. We are at the end of March and I am still fighting with them over health claims that have not been paid out for 2020. They literally made a mess of everything. Not to mention we had a health care spending account as well and nothing was paid out... because they are claiming it didn’t carry over until 2021. All claims were made in 2020 when the HSA was active.... it’s not my problem that you didn’t process a single claim before the end of the year! Never in a million years would I recommend this company. Stay away
Submitted a claim. Followed up several times and had multiple people promise to call me back with updates. Never received a call. After 6 weeks got an email that my claim was denied and not covered. What a waste of time calling and trying to get my claim paid. Awful customer service and coverage honestly.
I had the misfortune of having Industrial Alliance insurance as they were the groupe insurance provider for my former employer. I fell very sick and my doctor ordered to take immediate leave from work. I provided them my doctor's letter, all relevant forms they requested and granted them access to my medical file and all historical information in it. After harassing me for two long months they denied me coverage because according to them I'm not fully disable. Specifically I want to point out,
1) They were extremely unprofessional, rude and dishonest. They kept misrepresenting what I said to the point I asked them either we speak by email or the phone conversation has to be recorder and I would keep a transcript of the call.
2) They accessed all my medical information and my conversation with my physician and misrepresented those as well to point out that my claim is not valid. For example, during my sickness I moved out of my old apartment because my lease expired and it was on my doctors note because the move was very strenuous on my already fragile state. I argued that since I am able to move that means I am not unable to work.
3) They were extremely rude and when I raised my concerns about misrepresenting my words the case manager lied like a professional.
I have to add that with the same documents that I have submitted to them - I was able to get insurance coverage from the federal government's sickness benefit and my credit card insurer. Industrial alliance was the only one who rejected my claim. The treatment I received from them took a big toll on my mental health as I was already sick and eventually led to quitting my job. Disgusting and dishonest companies like Industrial alliance make money by denying people coverage when they need it most. I contributed to my insurance plan for years only to be refused when I needed the coverage. Please stay away from this horrible organization.
