Stay Away

I have read nothing but poor reviews of Canada Life after they took over PSHCP. I have had nothing but amazing service. Any phone call has been handled quickly and efficiently. I attended an optometrist appointment yesterday and submitted my claim... honestly fearing how long it may take. WITHIN 24hrs, I had the claim processed and funds directly back into my account. Amazing service!
Denied two claims with covered DIN's. I can't get an explanation because I've spend nearly 2.5 hours on hold over the last 2 days. I emailed from their website for support and have received nothing but a cookie cutter response stating they are behind on claims. They didn't address my concern as the claims I was referring to were already processed, just incorrectly.
They simply wont pick up the phone, I called 3 times, waited over an hour each time.
As bad as it gets.
Canada Life owes me $500 from claims I direct billed last week and that they accepted. The usual timeline for payments is approximately 2 days. It has now been 8 days. I am a sole proprietor and cannot float this debt. I have have been on hold several times this week for long durations but had to hang up because I have to work. I have communicated with my clients that until Canada Life fixes their "technical difficulty" I they will have to use some other method of payment.
We are planning on going to Florida for 6 months and tried to get approval for 6 months supply of medication, 23 days later and 6 phone calls and a promise that a supervisor would rush my request I am still waiting for approval, before they approved on the spot, seems like they just want people to get so frustrated that they pay for there own prescriptions, get rid of them, worst customer service I have ever experienced
I have been trying to get a hold of them and each time I get put on hold and nothing happens. I send emails and they say they will answer within 48 hours. Nothing comes back. Why did we change.
I am a member of the public service. Worse experience ever with an insurance provider. After becoming administrators for the PSHCP they failed to prepare for the influx of claims. People sitting on thousands of dollars of unpaid claims with little to no chance of ever getting through to an agent. Claims are never updated, people have no idea what is going on. This company is a disaster to deal with. Do not recommend!
What a nightmare trying to get through to these people. I have now been on hold for 2 hours!!! At least I haven't been cut off which has happened a number of times. Totally unacceptable. The recording keeps saying you can get information on their website. What a joke. Can never find anything of use on their website. Why did they switch from Sun Life. Never had any problems and customer service was a breeze. STILL ON HOLD!!!
Retiring overseas and trying to get comprehensive coverage set up. I’m showing as having supplementary, which is useless outside Canada. I was told that I would have to do a ‘Positive enrollment’ to get comprehensive coverage started but I cannot get any direction from Canada Life.
I called 3 times - twice the agent hung up on me and a 3rd time the agent said they would call me back but never did.
And, of course, the CR Pension centre is doing nothing to help me. They did suggest I cancel my coverage though…

I have worked with many insurance providers over the past 20 years, and none have been as terrible as Canada Life. Their premiums are sky-high and the turn around on predetermines is shocking. I also request an explanation of benefits for treatments so covered, which was almost a month ago now. Our account manager is completely useless and their online system and claims process is aggravating. Many of my service providers won't bulk bill with Canada Life, as they claim they are very slow to pay and difficult to deal with.
