They are a very BAD CHOICE in any kind of insurance. They have an agent for each individual topic for example damage to your car goes to one person, renewal goes to the other. When you call you will be put on hold for over an hour and the call gets disconnect three out of five times. In 30 years of having insurance, this is by far the worst company ever. All of the reviews that you may have read are very true and 6 months later I am still waiting for my car to be fixed. I would not recommend them to anyone and they got one star because I could not leave it blank.
Been with them for 8 years. I had 1 auto claim, which I was not at fault. They sent me a letter stating they will no longer renewing my automobile policy. Trash company.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Terrible company to deal with. Made the first claim on time. Every month after that it was later and later until it was past the due date. Had to, constantly, chase them for my payment. Why is it when our insurance payment is due it has to be paid on time? But it's ok for Cummins insurance to be late every month. Cummins insurance is not a good choice!
I was rear-ended and the accident was in no way my fault. The insurance company said that because I needed a new muffler and new exhaust and my car was 6 years old that I had to pay a betterment fee for the repair of $350. This was because they were giving me better parts than those that were on my car prior to the accident ... well, my car was worth more before it was hit and I would not have replaced those parts if I wasn’t rear-ended. Beware of hidden fees. After 10 years with no claims, I will be looking for a new insurance company at renewal due to my first not-at-fault claim.
Claiming that I have two months NSF, they terminated my policy. Upon verification on my bank account there was no transaction from this company. I printed a copy of my bank statement and sent it to them to prove that I do not have NSF and now they charged me service charges. In the first place, I never changed my bank information from the start. I pay only the premium balance but they continue sending a final notice for $50 and that is the service charged. I asked them which account they deposited my cheque. And I printed a copy and sent to them and there was no NSF on the said month. My big question is how it happened that my payment information was changed???
Despite being a Cumis client for over 10 years, and having 2 cars and 2 homes insured, my concern - really one of the human rights - was handled very poorly by the person on the phone. She was like an automaton, just repeating "company policy" and not listening at all to what I was saying. I will not be renewing with them!
I have been a customer of Cumis for over 10 years, a few years ago I scratched a car in a parking lot and was told if I put through the claim, it wouldn't affect me because it was my first claim. About 8 months ago I got into a collision on the highway where my airbag deployed, so, unfortunately, I got injured, so I have been submitting claims for treatment to get well. This week I received a call telling me that they will not renew my insurance, that I have to find another company...I asked why wouldn't they just increase my rate, their response was: if you have 2 at-fault claims with them, they will not continue with you... I feel that they are kicking me to the curb because of my claims. Funny because I thought insurance was to help us in these situations. I recommend staying away from this company unless you can wrap your car in heavy duty bubble wrap!!
My husband & I have been with Cumis Insurance for the past 13 years for our 2006 honda & 2015 F150 plus our home insurance & loans insurance also with them. We have never had a claim nor have we ever had anything infractions against us. My dishwasher had a manufacture defect & leaked all over my floor ruining our laminate flooring i called Cumis & i was 100% talked out of making a claim & told abiut all the "bonuses" we would loose & our insurance would go up plus the $1000 Deductable so my husband & i decided against putting in a claim. 2 weeks later we get a letter in the mail from cumis telling us that our insurance is going up from $320 a month to $390. Now some people may say big deal its $70 but to me it is a big deal because isnt your insurance suppose to go down for good driving & no claimes? I called Cumis & I was told that this year has been a bad year for claims so everyones insurance is going up. Ummm wait so i have to pay an extra $70 a month because of other peoples driving or other people putting in claims? That is insane to me & I am moving insurance companies asap.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
My child had a car accident that was weather related; but in Ontario someone has to be at fault! Cuz they had less than 5 years driving experience with a G license they dropped my child right away and then starting sending nasty letters saying this person could not drive our two cars even though our insurance was still valid for several months!!
They stated we could stay with our cars/home/life insurance but that the child was not wanted, and told us to get them insurance with another provider! They wanted to cut him off right after the accident ! WOW
Run away ... they want your money (we were clients with no claims for over 12 years with 4 drivers and 3 cars) but wont pay or if they do they exact revenge !
I had them take money out of my account for a vehicle that was no longer in my possession for 5 months straight even though they would tell me over and over again that they were not taking out month. They authorized payments without my consent and then they sent me a cheque 3 months after the fact.
