They cancelled my car insurance, because my husband's driver's record showed 3 tickets/speeding up to 14 km over the limit / 3 years period.
My driving record is excellent.
Dealing with their customer service is horribly rude, very unprofessional, they forget everything you tell them, and you keep on having to repeat yourself every call. They agree on something and later on they forget it happened. Customer service department needs an overhaul. Judgmental people giving their own opinion to insult you directly. They don't have respect nor care for your business with them. They also lie and try to put words in your mouth. Disgusting!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I got t boned at an intersection (Not at fault). Tons of witnesses saw the car that was insured under Cumis blow the red light totalling my car.
The car sat in impound for over 2 months.
Ajuster adjusted the value to a broken-down car in Quebec. Note very rare cars not many on the road.
This company made a horrible situation worst. I have no doubt about this company is Narssisistic to an extreme level.
This company gives all the hallmarks of being financially unstable. They should be ashamed. Dealing with other insurers was like being in heaven compared to this hole in the wall.
My husband and I changed our house insurance in December and was supposed to get a quote on an ATV to insure as well. Still waiting on the quote from November, so now paying more for my house insurance because it's only 1 item was going to move 2 cars as well and save $200 a year for everything. Have called Sam 5 or 6 times and Heather (my mother in laws representative) and haven't heard anything back in 3 months.
The only reason why they got 1 star is that their rates are competitive and it won't let you leave no star for customer service. My guess is because they know they have no customer service.
I can only imagine the hassle if I had to make a claim and had to talk to a representative. I can see why they only deal with Credit Union members as they wouldn't make it in the competitive insurance market. I just hope this company doesn't start giving Credit Unions a bad name.
Can't wait to change back to the previous insurer where they knew how to use a phone, even during COVID!
I have been with this company for a while now and I am very pleased with this company I have had no issues I recently put a claim through and it was handled very fast and efficient it honestly was a very straight forward and worry-free process
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I recently called my insurance provider CUMIS to get a home insurance quote and was quoted around 4,000$. This was out of my price range so I decided to shop around. I ended up deciding to go with a competitor because they offered it for half as much as CUMIS. While I was getting my quote from CUMIS, I had asked the agent how much I would lose cancelling early and she had said I would receive 45$ back. When I called to cancel, I had to pay 45$. This was done (apparently) to me not having to pay a month upfront even though every company makes you. I cannot verify as I have switched banks and no longer have the records. To summarize, the greed of this company and I am guessing all insurance companies is appalling. Pandemic and they still have to squeeze every last bit of money out of you when your hours have been reduced, wages cut, or have even lost your job... shame on you CUMIS!
Stay away far far away. I have claim both auto and home with them. Since November. The difficulty of reaching their claims department, they barely answer a call and if you leave a message it will take days for them to get back at you if they ever get back at you. They don't have a representative to all provinces so i was passing along to a third party. Who just like Cumis is very hard to reach. I this month alone I left multiple email and voicemail to Cumis claims representative and the third party company and I haven't heard anything back. Almost full three months in and I am making insurance payment and a car payment for a vehicle I can't use anymore. I cant purchase a new one until this is all settled. Worst insurance company ever!
First off my wife was t-boned at an intersection well over a month ago which was the other person's fault. The lady working on our claim is never working and has no assistant to reach out to us to get help from. So we’ve been leaving emails and voicemails every day but she just never works. Then it took just over a month before the adjuster looked at our vehicle to tell us they were writing it off which we had figured in the first place. He gave us an appraisal of much less than we had just paid for our SUV a few months before the accident. We had sent him a few vehicles we could find with the same kms options and all that with the average market price which he replied - "no" he won’t be changing his price. Tried contacting claims manager left messages no return calls from anyone. They are just terrible at what they do. I will be switching all of our business to a new company. I hope this helps save someone else from signing up with this company.
I had a claim on Christmas Eve, and then almost 1 year later another claim. I have heard no word yet if I’m gonna be dropped. 1st time I only had basic liability, and therefore no payouts were made. The second time I had full coverage and finance payout will be made.
I have been with CUMIS for 12 plus years. Customer loyalty is something that CUMIS, or it's underwriter the Co-Operators, do not value. They have a customer advocy department that advocates for nothing other that cumis itself, while the customer is being told that they are valued, and they are working with you. Behind the scenes they are doing everything they can to get more money from you, not pay you what you are entitled to and land sakes, you make a mistake or hit a rough patch in life they will not only drop you without a care but throw dirt in your eyes and kick you when you are down (in fairness that can be said about the entire insurance industry). 6 years ago this review would have been the polar opposite of this one.
