Rate increase

Terrible insurance company!
My rates were raised by 30% in one year for absolutely no reason!
For absolutely no reason, my insurance rates got up by 80% at renewal with TD Meloche Monnex. Have been a client with them for 25 years.
Changed to another Insurance for the same rate I had previously.
Not a great way to retain clients TD…
Horrible insurance company. I had them for car and home insurance. Never do business with them even if the rates seem reasonable at first.
As everyone said, wait times are ridiculous, it's by far the worst I've ever experience. Multiple times I was on hold for 1-1.5 hours, I just gave up.
They also overcharged me $900 on my car insurance, when I received the renewal documents I noticed they'd had my sister's accident on my policy. I've never had an accident. Even though they admitted it as their mistake, they would only give me $300 back of MY $900.
Also, my rates jumped significantly every year, and you can't get ahold of them to discuss it because of the disgusting wait times...
They increase premiums every year unreasonably. This year they have added an installment fee of $48 if you don't pay the annual fee at once. They don't give you any credit even if you are an essential worker, who has to go to work. Only the people at home get the advantage of keeping the car parked.
In fact, this year traffic on roads is less. But they have increased the premium by 20% without any claim, ticket or an accident from my end.
I recently moved to my new place and I updated my address and had my last name changed. I had to wait yesterday for almost 3 hours before someone can finally help me. I also changed the km as I am now working from home and I would not use my car for long drives anymore too! They gave me an additional $150 increase in my car insurance policy. THE WORST! I was expecting they would lower my car insurance so of course, I had to go look for someone else who can give me affordable car insurance! It really doesn't make sense.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
First of all, the three times that I had to contact them, it took me at least 1 hour and 15 min waiting on the line. Second, when I signed my first-year insurance with TD they said I could download the My TD Advantage app to receive up to 25% if I have at least 1000km and a minimum of 90 days usage. I did it and I called them right away to obtain my 22% discount (as the app was displaying). At that time they told me that the discount would come only on the renewal and I would have to use the app for more than 9 months. I did it!! When I called them to renewal they mentioned that my premium was exactly the same amount as the previous year (actually the difference was one dollar). Then I asked about the app discount, they said they had already accounted for the 20% discount from the app usage and the reason was that the insurance actually increased 20% from the previous year to the current year. I did not like the answer, so I went online to price my insurance on TD online tool, I added all my information (age, years of license, the street that I live), all the same, but using another name... The online tool gave me the same rate that they said I would have to pay with the app discount. I am not gonna change the system or fight with them, I changed my insurance to another company for better pricing and I will never do TD again. My advice is DO NOT BELIEVE IN TD DISCOUNT APP TO OBTAIN DISCOUNTS FOR THE NEXT YEAR. It is fake!
So frustrating services! I can't get any help online. The car policy I paid for the whole year after 6 months they send a new bill demanding for a new increased payment.
I started with Primmum (who was excellent), TD Insurance would not renew and forced us over to TD Insurance - and wouldn't provide a loyalty bonus (claiming we were new to TD Insurance - even though TD owns Primmum). Since being with TD Insurance, pricing has substantially increased and wait times have exploded... blaming many of our wait times on Covid-19 is not legitimate...why can't TD figure this out? Even just offering a call back option when calling in would go a long way. I feel bad for the employees left holding the bag, it must be a terrible place to work if staff are jumping off the ship (as a representative I spoke to blamed the wait on staff shortage... doesn't seem like TD is investing enough to make this a real business. Will try out a local broker when my policies are up for renewal... it is worth paying a little more to have better service and support local instead of TD who obviously doesn't care.
If I could rate them lower than 1 star I would. Tried several times by secure email and calling them only waiting forever online... and chatting on-line you wait forever as well... Terrible service!!! Maybe everyone cancelling policies due to the high increase this year. TD no more!

After 17 years with the company, and part of a professional group that supposedly had a discount with TD, I was shocked to receive my annual renewal with a 29% increase.
Nothing has changed with me in the past year and so I called to ask why the increase.
I was told that all policies were affected by general conditions in the industry and there was nothing other than that they could identify in my situation.
Enough is enough and I am changing insurers. I have contacted a few and have found more competitive rates at all of them.
One in particular will take me back to the level of premium that I paid last year. That's a 29% reduction from the TD renewal quote.
Goodbye TD.
