I cancelled my vehicle insurance with them. They couldn't find any record of me calling and the vehicle ended up being cancelled due to non-payment - AFTER I called to cancel the product. I contacted them with the issue, PAID the non-payment (they told me it would be reimbursed to me when they found the missing entry in my profile) I'm still waiting for the call from TD Insurance (after 6 weeks)! I called asked for a Manager and she told me there was nothing they could do.
Incompetent.
After the easy decision to leave TD Insurance, the first quote I received for auto and household was roughly HALF of what I was paying with TD Insurance - I NEVER had an accident or a household claim after 15+ years of being with them. (15 years of terrible service and overpaying)
Do yourself a favour and look somewhere else for your Insurance.
I used them for two years and in the third year I couldn't pay the annual fee at once, I paid $1000 Canadian dollars, but they still went ahead and cancelled my insurance and state that I paid late, and they will refund my money back. But up until this date, they have not refunded me. I tried calling the customer representative always says that they are working on it this August will make it two years. I am just curious if anyone has the same experience please advise.
The hold times are incredibly high. I've been trying to cancel my home and car insurance to switch to another provider and so far I've called 3 times and my calls all lasted over an hour. The reps don't understand insurance themselves and can never answer your question directly. It's all "umm, ah, well it's complicated please hold" 15 minutes later. "On what date are you looking to cancel again? Okay, I'll be back" and this cycle goes on and on. I can't wait to replace these people.
You deserve what happens to you if you choose them! I really cannot contact them to cancel the insurance. I have two email addresses and nobody replies. I waited once over 2 hours, once over 1.5 hours and 2-3 other times less, but nobody answered. It's a nightmare! It never happened to me in Canada on anything! STAY AWAY!
I had to spend two hours on hold to cancel my auto insurance policy with them. Worst customer service. Don't sign any policy with them. Expensive!
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I have been trying to cancel an insurance policy with them for over a year. Yes, that’s right. A whole year just to try to cancel a policy (and it’s still active at the time of writing this review). I have called countless times, waited on the line for many hours and sent every piece of support that they had asked for. Yes, I’m still waiting to get confirmation of the cancellation or a whiff of my money back. The best part about this is that they are well aware (and have all of the supporting information) proving that my home and auto officially have 2 different insurers because of how difficult it has been to cancel my TD one. I am not entirely sure what their agents do but I have a strong suspicion that they do not take notes during calls and actively delete emails that they receive. I have had to repeat myself a million times and had to resend documents multiple times. I’m really glad I didn’t have to file a claim with them because Lord knows I would’ve had a better chance of winning the lottery, getting struck by lightning 3 separate times and winning a Noble prize than getting anything from them.
I tried to rate this zero stars rather than one star. But one star appears to be the lowest possibility. Our car lease expired in July 2018. We called TD Meloche Monnex to cancel our insurance before returning the car. One year later, we received a renewal notice from TD; we called them again and reminded them that this had been cancelled one year before; they said to provide proof that the lease had expired. We provided them with the lease showing the expiry date and even the inspection report when the car was returned; they indicated that they needed some mythical "end of lease" agreement, which is not a thing. Amazingly, we have again (two years later!!) just received another renewal notice - they have now continued to charge us insurance for this car for two years since our lease expired, and they still won't cancel the insurance without the mythical "end of lease" agreement!! Have just spent 2.5 hours on the phone; their agents are very polite and empathetic but their underwriting group appears to have the mandate to squeeze customers for everything they can. We used this company for 15 years. We are now cancelling all of our home and auto policies with them; we will never, ever, ever use them again. On principle, we are taking the matter above to small claims court. I would strongly advise against insurance with this company - just not worth it.
I waited two and a half hours to speak to an agent upon purchasing a new vehicle. I tried again the next day, this time waiting over three hours before finally giving up. It was such a bad experience that I simply switched insurers. I then wrote a complaint letter to the company and received no response. They simply don't care about their customers.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Claim 1. Auto repair - authorized (and recommended repair shop) made multiple errors in repair. I had to go back 3 times, no support from TDMM. Claim 2. Auto repair - adjuster delayed, and then disappeared. 4 calls to customer service (45-75min hold time per call), over a 4week period, to find out adjuster left the company and no one else was assigned. By now, 1 year had expired and they would no longer fulfill the claim. Claim 3. Home Insurance. Concerns that TDMM may have changed my policy without approval. Called 4 times (with lengthy wait times) over 2 months to get more info - was told a manager would call me back with details. No call received. Finally, I called back a 5th time and got a supervisor on the phone. Claim still in process, Regardless of the outcome, will be leaving TDMM this fall. They exemplify the stereotypical insurance company with processes designed to decrease their financial obligations.

After 17 years with the company, and part of a professional group that supposedly had a discount with TD, I was shocked to receive my annual renewal with a 29% increase.
Nothing has changed with me in the past year and so I called to ask why the increase.
I was told that all policies were affected by general conditions in the industry and there was nothing other than that they could identify in my situation.
Enough is enough and I am changing insurers. I have contacted a few and have found more competitive rates at all of them.
One in particular will take me back to the level of premium that I paid last year. That's a 29% reduction from the TD renewal quote.
Goodbye TD.
