Tried to say you don't pay a month in advance.

Don't mess with them. In the second year they increase the payments very much.
Customer service is useless. You won't be able to get a discount from them.
Try more popular insurance companies. They have better coverage and lower costs.
First year with Sonnet was great, problems come at the time of renewal. My car insurance went up $150 a month and home insurance $30. I had a minor speeding ticket, no claims and no accidents. No claims ever filed for home. The increase in premiums is outrageous and there is no explanation. They lost me as a customer in just 1 year!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I took my car to a shop I preferred and got very low interaction/communication from my adjusters. They would only follow up if I reached out to the Ombudsman. It's been over a year and they want to reveiw my file again.
This company is a waste of money!!! I been a with them for 3 years and they decided to cancel my insurance on me for no reason at all. I have NO tickets, no accidents, all my payments have been paid ON TIME. I got told right by sonnet to do a new quote for my new inquiry, i do so and half way through my quote they turn around and cancel my insurance!!!! Now i am missing work because they fooled around with my insurance. I do NOT recommend going with this company I have never heard ANYONE I know with them have positive reviews. They will literally do what ever they can to not pay our an insurance claim, people are having to take them to court in order to get their entitled claims, etc!!! This company is a complete joke. Guess thats what I get for using a “online only” company. Lesson learned!! Save your time and money and look elsewhere!
Do not deal with this company. Their customer service is zero. I had a terrible experience just updating my policy.
I had been a customer with Sonnet for over 5years!!
With the new implementation of the non-payment of license-plate renewal, I had forgotten to renew my d/license. After the renewal date passed, I was informed that my insurance coverage would be cancelled... I quickly rectified the situation and contacted Sonnet so that all documentation was up to date. I contacted Sonnet several times to find out if my insurance would not be cancelled - forwarding them all updated D/L documentation was up to date. Mind your payment had been taken and was up to date. Everyone of the representatives that I spoke with told me that I should be able to go in and renew my information. Every time I did, I got an error message and was told that they were going to send an email to IT to rectify it... NEVER DID IT GET RECTIFIED...
I was THEN told to wait until the cancellation date and then re-try to renew. Day of cancellation - I tried to update my information, and again I got an error message. The representative that I was working with contacted me and told me that even though I had a long tenure with Sonnet, they would not renew my insurance.
literally on the day of cancellation, I had to change insurance, If I was told this from the beginning I would have changed my insurance. Tenure and good payment with Sonnet have nothing to do with Sonnet. Once they've gotten their money they'll let you go in a heartbeat!
Everything seemed fine for the first year until it came time to renew the contract. There was nothing wrong with the file but, they provided so much trouble in the renewal process. It was a huge headache and honestly, we had to switch companies because the customer service and IT department were COMPLETELY useless (that is the nicest way to put it).
On September 15, 2021, we cancelled our renewed car auto insurance policy and the home insurance policy started date October 3, 2021.
On October 12, 2021, we have gotten two registered letters from Sonnet Insurance. Sonnet wants us to pay for renewed policies that were cancelled 18 days in advance.
We found out that Sonnet Insurance on October 3, 2021, tried an unauthorized attempt to take money from our visa card for car auto insurance policy and our home insurance policy started date October 3, 2021, those were cancelled by us on September 15, 2021. In our opinion, it is a theft attempt. We were lucky. Visa changed Visa card before that attempt.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
The agents have no clue what they are doing only try to direct you to go online.
Twice now my renewal has been "frozen" and unable to be processed. Their IT team is useless which is extremely sad for an "online" insurance company.
They take no ownership for these issues... Simply just say "they are working on it"... Meanwhile, your insurance has expired and you can't drive your cars due to their error (i am not joking and/or exaggerating)
Stay away from them at all costs!

My policy was up for renewal and I decided to not continue with insurance after they tried to increase my car and home insurance by 20 percent each with no claims or incidents effecting my premium. Cancelled the renewal and looking online there was no payments left on the policy. Then with 4 days left in the term they decided to take one last full payment, even though I wasn't continuing with them.
