My home policy was with Trafalgar which ended up selling some of their customer base to Belairdirect. When I reviewed the new policy it had increased by 10% in cost and several services had been removed; Water Damage coverage and Loyalty Privileges such as disappearing deductible, home assist, etc.. When I complained I was told by a manager that they would reinstate the water damage if it was covered on the original policy but the other services they did not offer. A month later I received a water damage premium for and additional $180. Again I complained but they would not accept a copy of my original policy and only made excuses so that manager would not stand by his original commitment. I would not recommend Belairdirect as your insurer you will not be saving money up front and if the management is anything like I experienced you may be holding a big bill in the end.
i just had to write and let it be known that bellair insurance is a great company and i am so pleased with the outcome of the unfortunate flood i had on february 17, 2015. i lost everything including my deceased parents furniture etc. to start off with my claims person was one frank quatrara, a very professional, understanding gentleman which helped me with my ordeal. incredibly knowledgeable in the field, outstanding support, extremely efficient and i cant praise him enough. it was such a turmoil with my phone not working half the time and my computer being repaired by the electronics division. i was very emotional. thank God frank kept it together for me. i also want to add the following names who i dealt with, also very professional and compassionate. they are ben chiapetta, tara barber and natalie (?), their staff - movers, packers, unpackers etc., electronics division (did not mark down name of gentleman who restored my computer and vcr) and all in all a great ending to what could have been a disaster. bellair insurance, i highly recommend you to everyone.
I've had insurance with this Company for several years, & this year my premium spiked. The most annoying thing was a pathetic brochure on "Climate Change" ( they used to call this "global warming", untill they found the Globe cooling). Anyway they were using this idiotic pitch for a reason to raise rates. I called another Company & saved $450 bucks with increased coverage.
I got an email telling me my car insurance came down $101, they didn't send me an email telling me my home insurance went up $120 and they have increased the deductible to $1000 from $500, I have never had a claim EVER on my house or car, they should not be allowed to change deductibles without consent , they offered to put the deductible back to $500 for another $40. They are also charging interest if you use the monthly payment plan,,, they did not do that before!!! I am not amused, I look at insurance companies as licensed thieves!!
We had Belair home insurance for a couple of years. Then I noticed that from one month to another the automatic monthly withdrawal went up by more than $50.
I contacted them to find out why, and they told me that it was the renewal of the policy, and that they had sent all the paperwork advising me of the terms and conditions well in advance. At this point the tone is very severe.
When I pointed out that no such document had arrived to me, she ask me whether I was sure and not have missed it, with a tone insinuating that I was lying and that she knew it. After repeating several times that I had not seen such papers, that I check my mail religiously, and that I had never agreed to such increase, she agrees to check when/where the paperwork was sent. Comes back after a couple of minutes and states triumphantly how the paperwork was sent about 6 weeks prior, I say I have not seen such thing. Then she reads out the address, and I pointed out that I did not live at that address. I said that it did not matter anyways, I wanted to cancel this policy that I had never agreed to in first place, due to how I had been treated.
She became obviously angry and said that I still faced a more than $300 cancellation fee. I told her that it was impossible to have me bound to something I never accepted, that they had made the mistake. She insisted, and tired of being bullied on the phone for so long, I told her that I did not care anymore, I was cancelling it, fee or no fee, and that if there was a fee I would easily recuperate it in a few months with the lower offer from the competitor.
There were no more withdrawals, and I never got the fee in the end.
I have friends that say they are very happy with them. I was happy till this incident (but really, you're always happy while you are paying them and have no claims/issues). They have lost me as a customer forevermore, every year when I shop around I avoid them, because if they disputed something so silly as sending something to the wrong address, how will they be if I have a claim?. I got a quote from Intact and after finding out that they are related to Belair I automatically discarded it (it was not great anyways).
I had been with Belair for over 20 years. My daughter bought her first house, and it is a fixer upper. Explained in detail to Belair about the fixing up and schedule, and they insured the home. Two months after moving in, my daughter received a call stating she was being cancelled in 48 hours. Someone had driven by and seen a wood burning stove chimney and a bad roof. The stove had been removed the day she moved in as the insurance representative had been told, and the roofer was scheduled to start the following week. If the winter had been shorter, the roof would have been done. Belair refused to accept any of this, and my daughter ended up having to find a new insurance company within a day. Because of the roof, she had to get high risk insurance, which was LESS EXPENSIVE than Belair. I have since cancelled my Belair insurance, and would never recommend them to anyone. Hard to believe that high risk insurance is less expensive than a Belair rate for a family that had been a customer for so many decades. Do NOT choose Belair. They will not be there when you need them.
Good Day,
I have rated Belairdirect 1star because there is no lower score on here.
My parents have been customer's of Belairdirect for 40 Years.
YES, 40 years, and the only claimes they have made were about 4.
My mother being the only person in the present house that is insured with Belairdirect is now 80 years of age.
My sister was looking to see why the yearly fees were getting more and more expensive. This year we started to investigate. In the mean time the insurance was due. By the time we got to see that the insurance was past-due, we sent them a check. Not too long after that we got a letter saying that they we were late in paying and cancelled the insurance, returning the check.
The yearly cost to insure a duplex with 4 claimes in 40 years was up to $3000.00! ! !
Can I simply say that you should ALL stay away from Belairdirect!
All they want is your money, and when you ask for a claim you will pay 5 times more after than.
Stay away....
I have no clue where to begin. I had both my car and home insurance with them for 6 years, and received a lot of good customer experience. Over the last 2 years, I noticed that my tenant's insurance was on the rise. This year, they were going to renew my insurance again for $6 higher than the previous year. Problem is I had never made one claim in 6 years with Belair Direct except through my car insurance and I was not at fault (my insurance did not go up.. My finace was asking me if I wanted to come over to her insurance company so that we can combine anything, and I said sure. I was going to pay a little more for care insurance, but a lot less in tenant's insurance. I cancelled my insurance on March 11, 2016 through my fiance's insurance broker, and he put everything through even my cancellation forms signed provided by Bel Air Direct. I was called by Bel Air Direct saying that my auto insurance was cancelled, and it was too late to stop the paymnt. I said that is fine. They would put the payment back in soon as possible. over 2 weeks later, I received the payment back in my account today. Yesterday, I get a call from an agent saying that they needed to talk to me, and get my verbal consent that the tenant's insurance was now cancelled. I talked to the rep, and reminded her that both policy cancellations were cancelled 2 weeks ago, and you are calling me now. I told them you should have called me 2 weeks ago to verify the document, and not wait until the day before you take the payment only to tell me that it was too late to stop the payment. After talking to the first rep, I tried again this morning to talk to the second rep, and she told me that I needed to take ownership for not calling in or mentioning on the day they called me to inform me of my car insurance cancellation. The rep today basically told me that they are a big company, and thousands of clients that they don't have time to call people. I said, but you waited until the last day to call me to verify with me that my tenant's insurance is cancelled. They now tell me that they will put the money back in soon as they can, but they don't know how long that will take. After realizing this morning that they are connected to Intact, and after hearing complaints about Intact, I now know to stay away from Bel Air Direct for good! They take no ownership for their mistakes, and all they can say it was a human error. No customer service here! If you want a true customer service, go over to a mortgage broker. I for sure don't want to feel like a number. I want to feel like a customer. Just stay away from Bel Air Direct if you don't want poor customer service.
