Impossible to talk to an agent

by varelie on Jul 18, 2020

I was trying to set up home insurance by doing the online quote and then call. I tried to call several times during several days at different time. Each time I waited for more than 1 hour without being able to speak to anybody. It's like they don't want new customers.

Shocked at the decline...

by Sjohn2020 on Jul 15, 2020

I was with TD Meloche for home/auto/travel etc from 2005 to 2020. I've spent my last two days off trying to cancel my one remaining policy. Collectively I've been on hold for 4 hours and have not yet been able to get through. This company used to provide amazing service - it feels now like the last employee has turned off the lights and walked out.

Home insurance

It is time for renewal. The company has been merged or bought. Their product has changed. They are now forcing me to buy the $3M solution. I don’t need $3m in coverage. My house and all associated expenses and household contents would not be worth $3M. They increased my premiums from $67/month to $110/month. Seriously. I have been a loyal customer for 13 years. No claims. What a shame. Bye TD.

Are you a condo unit tenant? Remember that neither your condominium corporations' policy nor your landlord's insurance policy protects you as a tenant (3rd part liability, contents, etc.). If you do not have your own insurance policy, get your condominium insurance quote today.

water damage not covered

by AH on Jun 9, 2020

I had a claim related to a flood in my apartment and of course, TD insurance found a loophole in order to deny my coverage. I paid TD insurance money since 2001 and 20 years later when there was a problem in my apartment they did not cover the damages. We had a pipe leak in our condo and the laminate floor was damaged. The adjuster did everything possible to find a way not to pay for our claim. Please beware of TD insurance scam as they will make you live a living hell in case you have a claim. My advice is to stay away from TD Insurance and get a policy somewhere else. Huge scam!

Insurance premium gouging

by Christy on Apr 21, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

I have had 2 home policies and 2 automobile policies with them for years. Never made any claims for years. This time, they jack up the premium 4× this year. The home policy used to be 1300 now they are asking for 4300 for the same homes. My guess is no regulatory bodies is governing the insurance companies? So they can do whatever they want to make the most profit? When I call for a quote, they give me a different quote every time even within the same day, each customer service representative would tell you a different story within minutes of calls. Their company is just an unethical business.

Incompetent, Unprofessional

by AvoidTd on Apr 17, 2020

Unfortunately, we had our house broken into. The first adjuster did not understand their job. Send forms with other client's names on them to us. TD does not follow the policy terms and conditions. In my opinion the employees are incompetent and unprofessional. We have had to take legal action against TD.

Home insurance

Worst insurance company ever. I have had 2 homes and 2 auto insurances with them for years. I was encouraged to switch from a better company with more support staff to TD. I would recommend my physician colleagues stay away from them. There are lots of better options for us out there. I would never trust them after a very horrible experience. Cancelling all my insurances with them!

Total Crooks

To anyone looking at home insurance, you may be attracted by their relatively inexpensive rates, and ease in setting up the policy, however, do NOT give this company any of your money. I've been trying to cancel a policy that's 5 years old now, and Meloche told me what I needed to provide over the phone, then I would send the required verbiage and cancellation notice via email, and they would request another document, or me to send something via fax or mail, then claim it wasn't received. In the end, they cancelled the policy but refused to pay back charges for the annual payments that were being taken out of my account. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.... You will probably regret it.

TD is bad faith insurance!

I wouldn't trust it anymore after being a customer for more than 10 years. I did not advise on policy. Change around policy details. Always try to minimize their liability. You need a lawyer to read through the fine print. An adjuster is not on-site and relies on their subcontractors that aimed to maximize their own profit only at the customer's expense. No "real" person to talk to, during a crisis and after, except for 1-800 number with long wait time.

TD is bad faith insurance

We, unfortunately, had our home broken into. An unprofessional adjuster who doesn’t understand anything. They sent a letter with another client's name on it refusing the claim to SIU. The SIU investigator is a far retired cop that should of staid retired. Now lawyers are dealing with TD. Stay away
