Left after 12 years

Customer service was great when I was shopping around, part of the reason I chose Johnson. But the moment after I purchased the policy is when the customer service experience turned south. They did a home inspection, after issuing the policy (which seems odd to me) and made demands that I complete a list of outdoor repairs (mostly exterior painting) in the middle of December, within 90 days. When I told them it was unreasonable to ask me to paint the exterior siding in the winter, they basically listed off a bunch of hoops I’d have to jump through for an extension that they stated would “probably be declined” by the underwriter. It’s generally impossible to get through on their phone lines. I’ve tried multiple times at different points in the day and when I do get through they are generally quick to defer this to someone else who, I then have to wait, even longer to speak to. Will be switching at renewal and feeling thankful I never had to file a claim with them.
I've paid Johnson Ins. for 10 years, I put in a claim because of a leaking roof, they patched the roof when I asked how come the whole roof isn't being done I told that it only need a patch, 8 months later my roof leaks again and they're going to do 1 whole side of my roof, It didn't need to be replaced 8 moths later it does?? and the best part now my insurance is getting canceled... They have no problem taking my money but when I need them it's a problem... Avoid them unless you know that you'll never need to make a claim.
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
We sold our house and because we were changing to another cheaper company at our new home they charged us 1 1/2 months premium.
Bought a new (used) house, thought that Johnson were good. Had a claim due to a bad pipe, handled very fast and was really impressed, at first. Then we had a second claim due to another bad pipe. Because this was symptomatic of more problems, we had the entire house re-plumbed. Informed the company of this. Heard nothing back until it was less than a month to renewal, then we get a letter stating that we were being dropped due to frequency of claims. Were we suppose to change the entire house plumbing because of one bad pipe?? Totally bummed out with Johnson. Would not recommend them to anyone I know!!

We had always felt well insured with Johnson Unifund. We had a windshield chip claim 6 years ago, and they bent over backwards to accommodate us & facilitate the repair. However, for the past 3 years, we’ve had huge increases to both our home & auto policies. This year our home policy went up 20%, despite a stellar credit rating (don't even get me started on that!) and no claims. I spoke with 3 different representatives trying to find ways to bring down the cost of our home policy: I was told to “go shop around if I felt their prices were too high”. The last representative reminded that I had “called several times, was I expecting a different price?” I gave up, pulled our auto policy & went elsewhere, saving $1258 for 2019-2020.
