Watch out

1.5 out of 5 stars

Currently going through claim with Economical.Suddenly I hear that water damage maynot be covered and eventually...one week later after initiating several inquiries...two visits from restoration specialist,no visit from adjuster,I am yold this is not covered because of window maintenance,Somehow,I am to believe that closed, locked windows have leaked and need replacement.Home is well maintained.I am treated as a claim number and, while this is not over,,I have learned that this process is not customer friendly or service oriented ...except when pying the premium.Dissatisfied and frustrated.!!!!

Had two claims, neither were handled well. Didn't feel that our insurance company helped us at all. The other insurance company was of more help than ours.

Worst Service I Ever had

by No thanks on Aug 7, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

Had a claim the guy who was in charge of the claim never contacted me and when I finally got to him by phone he told me I was mistaken and that he didn't know anything about my claim. After I called back the company he called me back saying I already spent all the money my claim had given me and nothing else would happen with my claim, that was 3 months after the construction company stopped doing anything at my home. And then when I had to sell the house because I didn't have any money anymore these guys sent me 4 different bills for the end of contract, none with the same amount of money, had to call end email a guy for a week for them to get their story straight and give me a bill that actually made sense. You will not get any service from this company, none of the people you can call or will call you actually work there, from my understanding they all are contracted.

Predatory Charges and Profiteering Company

by Paul Graansma on Dec 14, 2023
1 out of 5 stars

I will never do business with Economical again. They added a predatory charge to my home insurance when I told out a Home Equity Line of Credit. Despite the fact they would not actually insure the value of anything borrowed on the HELOC, they still insisted on substantially raising my fees once I took one out.
This is a crooked and profiteering company. You will have no recourse to complain as they only do business through brokers. I highly suggest avoiding them.

Thank You Terrence

by Terry L on Jul 22, 2022
3.5 out of 5 stars

The closing date on the home I purchased was suddenly moved up by 2 weeks, leaving me with less than 48 hours to purchase home insurance. I called the insurance company. The service I received from Terrence was outstanding and far beyond what I expected. He was able to secure suitable insurance on time to meet the closing deadline.
Value for money was not so great. Since it took me 8 months to find a suitable home after selling mine in November, I had to pay a higher premium because of the gap in between selling and buying when I had no home to insure. After being an insured homeowner with not a single claim for the past 35 years, I find this "gap policy" unfair, punitive, and somewhat discriminatory, especially at a time when the housing market is so competitive.
Overall: Despite the excellent service I received, next time, I will shop around for a better rate with better coverage.

No respone

I have had a claim in for 7 weeks, still unresolved, and the representative has communicated with me only 3 times. Damage to my house is still unresolved. This has been going on since the middle of May.

Once the claim is resolved, whenever that will be, I will switch to another insurance company.

Had a car claim in 2021, and service was terrible as well.

Awful and rude

Brutal rude representatives, inflexible policies!
Like many here, I would give a zero rating if I could.
Customers are just numbers to them, no humanity behind this company.
They took my money but still cancelled my policy after only 5 months due to a COVID-related oversight. I feel like they stole my money.
On top of everything, they are rude and confrontational on the phone.
Run, this place is trash...

Economical not so economical

Hi, our insurance rate for our house in Ontario went from $2319 in 2020 to $2827 in 2021. When questioned on this increase they re-evaluated it for $4244. We dropped this company and suggest you do as well.

Poor Customer Service

by krilaurya on Apr 29, 2021

The claim was made in October 2020 - Six months later - still no work has begun. Poor communication for the last six months. No support. No assistance. The claim was a result of the Strata flood. The strata claim has been completed months ago. Because of "improvements" (rug changed to laminate), the claim had to go through our insurance. Our insurance did not work with Strata insurance. Did not work well with anybody.

Are you a condo unit tenant? Remember that neither your condominium corporations' policy nor your landlord's insurance policy protects you as a tenant (3rd part liability, contents, etc.). If you do not have your own insurance policy, get your condominium insurance quote today.

Deceitful Adjuster

by Blair P on Mar 10, 2021

We are currently in an ongoing claim status dating to August of 2020.
We have been lied to, threatened and condensed towards. There is zero transparency, near-zero open lines of communication, instructions to project bidders not to discuss the scope with us! Not to show us any documentation pursuant strictly to our claim. Altering the scope of work devaluing the level of repairs and thus our home!
Asbestos in several mortar joints and they are manipulating contractors to only bid on a patch basis and not to advise us! Making one contractor obtain three bids from sub-trades while two other contractors are only required two! We have no reason to trust nor expect a satisfactory claim and the breach of faith is clear!
