The airline website has cheaper flights.
But in order to use points, you have to book online through Avion online portal.
The fares are marked up, they will not price match, after doing the math, instead of getting a $2000 credit for 100,000 pts to Asia, it actually works out to only $1,360.
This is Fraudulent, deceitful business practices, I am terminating this Avion Card.
The fees associated with booking a flight through my Avion points were HIGHER than the fare to book directly through the airline.
I'm not exaggerating. The fees AFTER using my points were more than the cost of booking the entire flight(s) through the airline.
I have no idea how this program exists. It's total garbage.
And truthfully, it's even worse when trying to use the points to purchase merchandise.
I'm done.

What else will you get:
After waiting 25 minutes (I now think I was very fortunate only 20 minutes) I finally spoke to someone. I wanted to claim a reward using my points. I didn't have enough points and was going to pay the balance with my credit card. Well, there was no option on that site to do that. The RBC person also couldn't figure out what the issue was. After another 15 minutes on hold, she said all I can do is have someone call me back. When asked when can I expect a call... She said within 10 days. What a joke? Not my first issue with Avion. This is my SECOND only ever dealing with the points rewards program and let me tell you this situation was a very minor one compared to the one years ago. But that's a whole different matter with not enough time to explain it here.

Booked a trip using Avion Rewards and my wife got sick, and we needed to cancel, and they offered a credit on next flight booking. We originally paid $400 plus used 70,000 avion points. Trying to book again was a nightmare. Booking from Toronto to Vancouver. They applied my credit and told me that I would now have to pay an exchange fee of $210 per person, and that was agreeable. They came back and told me the flight would cost me $997 per person on top of the $210 Plus another 70,000 points. Looking at WestJet the same flight listed was $610 per person. How do they inflate a flight price so much. Absolute garbage if you ask me.
Going to look at swapping my RBC Avion Visa with another bank.
