Absolutely Horible

After being with State Farm for many years I realized that since Desjardins took over, and with no claims, I was still paying almost twice as much for home and auto insurance. So I started getting quotes and realized what they were overcharging me, but the kicker comes when I switched insurance companies, and they charged me almost $500.00 and refused to tell me how much of that cost was a penalty! That is just bordering on fraud if you ask me.
After being with State Farm for over 30 years (now Desjardins), they raised my premiums because of the amount of claims they paid out (not my problem. I haven’t had a claim in 25 years), I went to a different insurance company. Not only did they not give me back any of the insurance amount I paid for a full month, but charged me 100 more than my monthly premium (on top of my regular amount) and took the money out of my account two days before they were even authorized to do so. None of the agents even tried to keep my business. DO NOT GO THERE. They are absolute crooks. And yes I called the customer complaint line and they didn’t anything. Disgusting!
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
The experience with this company has been awful... Yes, they are very fast to serve your needs on paper yet when the real work begins they are no place to be found for proper information and or getting things done in a timely manner.
My claim is still outstanding even though my adjuster knows what's going on and has done as little as possible to help my claim go through.
They raised my premiums after 1 year of coverage. Nothing has changed in my policy. No accidents or claims. I tried to get this resolved but the agents keep changing the subject on the phone. Managers are useless and do the same thing. These are con artists and should be investigated by the police and the Federal government.
Great customer service. All the staff members I ever talked with are super-friendly. However, the waiting time is insane. If you want to reach out to a person there is a good 2-hour wait for that. This is ridiculous. You can hire more staff rather than putting burden on the few that you have and irritating clients with extra waiting time.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I was heading north, came up to an intersection stopped to turn left, the opposing lane is heading south, the car in the opposing lane has already stopped waiting to turn left. 3-4 cars stop behind the opposing lane waiting for him to turn. I turn left onto my road when another vehicle approaching the stopped vehicles has taken the shoulder of the road to avoid stopping and sideswipes me, pushes me into the opposing lane of this street and into a ditch... The Cop writes up a report that states I'm turning properly the other driver is driving improperly and speeding. Has multiple witnesses. No one is ticketed..?? My car is a write-off, his front end is damaged. I call insurers and before I can even describe the accident fully he states that since I'm turning left I'm at fault?? Months go by with some girl who loses my emails, denies getting them (even though she responded to them) and the final result is yes I'm 100percent at fault... Oh, and we both have the same insurance company so I said an outside party should be involved... Nope... No witness reports were reviewed etc.. I avoided the stress of lawyers being pregnant at the time but now my insurance rate is a 3star driver instead of 10! RIDICULOUS! Get the Cop to ticket if possible to prove whos at fault or they decide for you.
The agents were very kind and great people to work with on my auto insurance! They provided optimal advice on whether you go with them or not and have positive attitudes. Would highly recommend their service. They made my auto insurance experience at Dejardins enjoyable! They were very patient, informative, gave me a better price and they have an auto program to give you a discount as well, thank you so much!
I have been with Desjardin auto insurance for as long I can remember. Yesterday I spoke with an agent, who messed up the relationship with this company. I recently bought a new car and called Desjardin to moved my insurance over. At the start, I told the agent I was in a new address but did not mention I was to be there temporally. The agent asked me to read the address I have on file and I did. He went ahead and processed my insurance based on the address I read to him. ( this address on file was different from the one I was in at that moment). He sent an email to me with my significantly lower monthly payment. I again reminded him I moved to a know address mention for a moment. The agent decided to recalculate my insurance based on the new address, and the amount was significantly higher, about $30 higher. I told the agent that was no problems at all and that he should allow the insurance at my old address given the fact I will just be in the present address for a month. The agent said it was because I heard that the insurance amount will be higher in my present address that I decided to ask him to keep it at my permanent address. Later, he kept me on hold for about 10 minutes and wasted my time just come and tell me they will need to move my address on file to the temporary address which the amount per month to pay is higher. I told the agent all my info and address on my driver's license is still in my permanent address which is not this address I am in. He asked me to provide a least agreement that I am in the old address. I told him I did not have the least agreement in both houses. I live with my friend who is helping me out to continue with my studies. The agent started telling me how I need a least because it will be for my protection in case they want to push me out of their house. I did not think it was he call to start telling me that. The agent was very sarcastic and could not allow me to explain myself. I was very disappointed with the services I received from him. According to me, he very unprofessional and inexperienced. In the past, I have had a very good relationship with formal agents I spoke with. I am not sure where this guy was from to spoil my relationship with Desjardin in this manner. I let him know I won't stay with them anymore. He was okay with it and behaved as if nothing happened.
Please do not choose this company. They make it their business to deny your claim. I was first contacted by an adjuster who came across as inexperienced and extremely judgemental. Firstly, she did not introduce herself or her job properly so I was confused around how much information I needed to disclose. Throughout our conversation, she cut me off, drew inferences that did not make sense and she was judgemental. She also kept speaking with this horrible rising intonation where everything sounded like a question. She did not even call me to tell me about the outcome and instead she sent me an email. Obviously distraught, I spoke with her supervisor. As I was crying, she treated me like I had mental health issues and I was incapable of holding a conversation. I told her that I would cry regardless of when I had the conversation. When I thought to say something, she raised her voice at me and told me to let her finish speaking. It was the first time I did that and I was really distraught, which would be understandable! Her method of management is to have control over any conversation and she goes from 0-100 real quick. Desjardins was the most horrible experience I’ve had with an insurance company. I’m not upset about my claim being denied as much as I’m upset by the way I was addressed by these two ladies. These two women exemplify lacking empathy.

My wife and I have been with State Farm for 30 years and It was OK for the most part, but ever since Desjardins took over, with 0 claims or accidents my multi-car and home insurance went up to close to 30% that is absolutely cruel.
I’m in a process of looking for a different insurance company, but if you are new and need to insure your car, home or both I will strongly advise you do not even consider Desjardins, they are absolutely unreasonable.
