I started shopping around when I was quoted $270/month by Dejardins for insurance on a recently purchased home. I had also been paying $350/month for insurance on two vehicles - I had two at-fault accidents that I had claimed more than 5 years ago, which pushed my premium up so I never really questioned it. I called TD to get a quote for home and auto insurance and immediately switched as I found out I would save >$3,000/year in total. I am now paying $350/month for both home and auto insurance, even with my driving history. Dejardins are crooks! Similar to others, my premiums went up significantly when Dejardins took over State Farm.
Currently, I am a customer and have had nothing but a terrible experience with them over and over... It is: - "oh please, hold while I transfer you..." then get the old hang-up experience. They are garbage how bad is it that I need to get authorization from them to pay them! Absolutely absurd...
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I've had 2 claims while insured with Desjardins' auto insurance and let me tell you, I have never in my entire life had to deal with a company that has given me this many headaches and caused this much stress in my life.
On my first claim, I was lied to by an agent and told that I was NOT at fault only to find out 2 years later that I was at fault and that's why my rates went up!
On my second claim, Desjardins tried to take advantage of me by only paying me $7000 for a write-off. I fought with Desjardins for 3 months and I won. We settled at $8800. Wow! They made an $1800 mistake and it only took 3 months for them to admit it.
I say this as a warning do not insure your possessions with Desjardin, I highly suggest you pay the few bucks per month extra for a different insurance company that will have your back in your time of vulnerability.
These scammers blame an exhaust for causing an accident! they said it was because of an after-market exhaust that what caused an accident, are these people for real?
I have been with this company for years, I feel extremely regret that I had not left soon. The staff there are so aggressive, in a very bad attitude, they don't care if the clients leave of stay. Whenever you have some questions, they will always push responsibilities to you, said it is your fault. And they even give wrong information.
An agent called Nelly G, her address is 165 Dundas Street West, she is the one who always speaks in a very rude and aggressive way, she doesn't care about the client's feeling, she is the most aggressive and rudest person I have ever seen. I feel bad for her, and feel sad for myself why I have not left them earlier. Fortunately, I find another company and am ready to move.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Never deal with this company
- Their Billing department is great but the people in the actual agents office are horrible, they're rude and arrogant, They raised my rates without telling me and said I just had to deal with it. The complaints go on and on but in a nut shell there's no communication and then they wonder why you don't know about charges and changes on your account which is fine if you have lots of money just sitting there waiting but if you're on a budget its hard to work with. I deal with Pembridge Insurance as well and they are wonderful, I've never had a problem with them in 6 years but am having to continually deal with problems from Desjardins and be talked down to by my agents staff.
I was in an accident 4 days ago, I was not at fault, I was stopped at a red light, and was run into. So I had to deal with this joke company my adjuster from this insurance company, laughed at my claim and I was told I would deal with him, and I asked to speak with his supervisor and he said no and ended the call by hanging up, I tried calling him back but just got the answering machine. Discussing behaviour from a very unprofessional group of no-talent group of twits. I recommend you try different insurance companies before you sign with them. They also are recommending OEM parts put back on my Range Rover Evoque, it was in factory condition before the accident now it will have junkyard parts put on, we pay enough cash to grease companies like this, so really pass on any contract with them.
This gentleman was absolutely amazing, so friendly and very helpful. Very knowledgeable as well. He went above and beyond for me as well as getting a decently priced quote. He also explained how things worked for me and how to do certain things if need be, extremely helpful especially to younger people who are new to this. Ross from Dejardin ( in Calgary ) was absolutely amazing.
Well, this company is totally fraud . If anyone wants to waste time and money than you can choose this company because I had an accident on 6th of nov and my car goes under total loss settlement .They paid me less than my actual car value even after sending 10-15 ads from auto traders . I spent 3500$ on my car just 3 months before having accident and sent them invoices for claim but they gave me only 509$. Secondly, I had 2 different lien holders on my policy but they didn't paid me for one of them . They never told me before adding lien holder if anything happen to car then they are not paying for other company. They send me cheque and told me funds are already added for other company but when i claimed my gap then my gap insurance contact to sholaine pajor my adjuster and she told that they only paid for actual car value . is this kind a joke , now i have to pay 3700$ from my pocket to close my loan with td and i got my claim after 5-6 months of accident .
Absolutely horrible experience!!!!
I would give zero stars if that was an option.
I have had exceptional service from previous insurance companies; however, Desjardin wins the prize for the worst insurance company (hands down).
I am speaking from my own experience here, but I have spent more of my time chasing down a decision on a claim. The adjuster (in my opinion) needs to seek employment in some other line of work.
You clearly do not know how to communicate, or for that matter make a decision. Reputable insurance companies do...I see why you work with Desjardin.
