I've had great experience with their customer service. However, what I will say is that they continuously keep increasing my monthly payment.
First I was paying around $129/mo, then 135+, then 146. I called them to complain about the constant increase, but they would not budge and said it was because other drivers with my same vehicle are getting into a lot of accidents... I adjusted some of the insurance and got it lowered to 136. A few months later, it's back up to $145/mo. No accidents, no tickets, nothing. Just random price increases.
Getting pretty fed up with it, if I find another insurance company that will charge less, I'll probably be switching.
I hate to say this but TD service and employees sucks. I got involved in a car accident few weeks ago. Even though it wasn't my fault they failed to provide service. (forget about good) my adjuster was from NB and she is the worst person I have ever deal with. No contact for two weeks. I called daily to get my papers and they simply ignored me. Finally get papers that my vehicle deemed a total loss after almost a month, they only giving me 40 % of my car price. Got an accident and screwed by TD. Now I am financially and mentally damaged. After paying 60 months of payment I got this disappointment. Cancelling both my auto and home insurance and also insurance of my family.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
My fiancé and I were involved in a not-at-fault car crash when the other driver fell asleep and rear ended us. We are both injured and we have not been able to return to work. Our TD insurance adjuster is rude on the phone. She interrupts us regularly and she doesn't care to listen to what we are going through. She refuses to answer our questions and insists that we go through our lawyer even though it's a simple question and we have her in the phone. She doesn't answer when our lawyer calls and defends herself by how many days she can delay before having to reply. We are professional acrobats / pro athletes and it is absolutely crucial for us to be rehabilitated so that we can go back to work. Our adjuster delays an our ability to get access to the treatment we require and when we try to voice our concern she will raise her voice and and be offensively rude.
I would highly recommend anyone considering to get TD auto insurance to search elsewhere other than TD insurance because if you do have a claim and if you do have injuries, their priority will be in keeping their own expenses low instead of approving you the services you need to get better. They don't feel like allies, they feel like the enemy.
If you are trying to pay by phone, at least, you need to spend a half day on the line.
I was waiting for over 2 hours on the phone to speak to the person.
Attitude to the customer is very bad. please do not call them you might lose your half day.
I have not received my renewal paper from them and they have taken out premium in advance which was higher than my previous amount. They always love to overcharge their customers. I asked them to cancel and they told me that I need to pay a termination fee (though my insurance coverage period is from November 27, 2016 to November 27,2017)!!! In a word, they are a MONSTER. I am planning to cancel all of my accounts with them.
Hello,
I have had very bad experience with TD Insurance and very disappointed to see the way Claim Adjuster has misrepresented me by her contradict email. Before giving me any offer rented car or claim amount of money. My car has been salvaged and i came to know about when i have received the letter from Alberta Vehicle Registration.
After this incident i have decided to close my account with TD BANK and move on to other BANK.
She contradict herself by email. in email she asked me when your are going to repair car otherwise close file and second email asked me accept
her offer of money and my car not repairable.
She did not notified me about salvage of car, i could not able to go for work. when i decided talk to her Manager, she denied to transfer her call to Manager. she wanted to settle with her offer. she was rude and not respond me by email and phone.
I complain to HR department, but i have mental and financial loss because of her misrepresentation.
These TD insurance guys are the worst you can possibly go to. Been with them for over 3 years with clean record and they increased my premium with no explanation. When I called them back, they couldn't give me a reason why!!!
I happened to call them at the end of my one year insurance contract so, I asked them to cancel. To keep me with them, they said they will charge me one and half months premiums for cancellation...
Leaving them for good...
I've been with TD for over 30 years. I originally was with Liberty Mutual.Insurance for over 10 years. But TD bought them out 20 years ago, so that meant that I went with TD I have NEVER missed a premium payment or been late with one.... NEVER. I had my wife's car, my car and my house with them. Anyway my wife had 2 small accidents in the last 3 years. There were no injuries, no towing involved as these were very minor accidents with superficial damage to vehicle's.
They also at first, increased our premiums for these accidents which we expected, and were willing to still pay.
But TD in their infinite wisdom, then decided to cancel our auto insurance because of these incidents.
How's that for customer loyalty after nearly 35 years??
They have made a ton of money off me over all the years and now because of this they cut me loose.
My house insurance is still with them and is due for renewal in a few months, and I will show them the same level of loyalty that they have shown me, which is NO loyalty. I would cancel it now, but they would hit me with an early cancellation charge.
You are nothing to TD but dollars, Loyalty means NOTHING to them.
If you sign with them expect NONE.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I've been with TD Insurance (underwritten by Primmum) for almost 4 years, since moving to Alberta.
Initially, I got a great and affordable quote, but each successive year, with no tickets or accidents of any kind, I see my rates increase by increments of hundreds of dollars.
I called them to make some minor changes to my insurance a few weeks back, changing it from commercial to personal use, and notified them of an increase in kilometers driven to/from work. I was expecting to see my rate reduced by quite a bit due to changing to personal/commuter use, but the rep told me I wouldn't save much, and that he could add accident forgiveness to my policy and it would "break even". Well, next thing you know, my rates have increased by yet another 15%, making my annual insurance premiums DOUBLE what they were just 4 years ago - and again, no tickets, suspensions, accidents, nothing. Perfectly clean driving record.
So I jumped ship. Found another reputable insurer that quoted me less than TD originally did when I first signed up with them 4 years ago, which will save me about $700 this year.
Moral of the story: There are way more affordable insurers out there.
I had an accident a year ago. I was rear-ended. The emergency services recommended that I pull to the side due to safety (which I told my TD adjuster and she said "I hate it when they do that"). I didn't feel safe at the location of the accident since it was a major highway. #1) No sympathy or understanding from the adjuster. Then, it was clear that I was hit from behind, the guy was tailgating and didn't have enough space to avoid me when I had to stop due to the car in front. How am I at fault when I was the one hit? You go and talk to their adjuster. I had to pay 50/50. #2) My adjuster never came to look at my vehicle. The other party's adjuster did, for damage estimation purpose. #3) My adjuster looked for faults in my statement and even yelled back at me. I was frustrated with the situation and obviously it was voiced through my tone. You'd think she would be professional about it. #4) I find out from the other party's adjuster that it was to be settled through 50/50, me holding half the fault. I asked if they could access road cameras or dash cams to view the evidence since the other party hit me at a major exit/highway location. Obviously, they said no. #5) The other party is also with TD Insurance, which makes me wonder if the company did not do this just to profit themselves since now I have an at-fault record and will have to stay with them if I don't want to pay double my premium with other companies for at least 5 years.
