Our story

5 out of 5 stars
Our story begins like most stories, we needed an insurance company to help us resolve our claim in a timely manner. I'm sure all insurance adjusters are very busy, we all are busy every day. Our fender bender took two months and counting to repair, pay the body shop and reimburse us for the rental car. Allstate paid the body shop, but has not called once to say "we have received the copy of the PAID invoice from your rental car company and we SEE that you correctly used our recommended daily rate, no added insurance and that we made the effort to follow up with the Allstate Adjuster who can't seem to find the time to review after 10 business days, much less call to update us". Allstate gets poor marks for customer service. They received daily updates from the body shop doing the work. Allstate has a relationship with Enterprise rental car using daily rates required by Allstate if you want reimbursement. They have paid the body shop so that means they approved the body shop timeline and the work is done. How is it they cannot find the time to review the car rental? The car was returned to Enterprise 14 days ago, paid receipts sent to Allstate. Crickets. Still, have not spoken to the adjuster... Insurance companies get bad reviews all the time. Let the buyer beware. This company does not have your best interest in mind when they talk to you.
All State charged me an additional $90 dollars when I switched addresses without telling me. I found out about this as I received a letter in the mail stating I had an overdue payment. I am confused to why I have to pay $90 dollars simply to move? Company is a joke, these people are stealing our money as it is.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
"You are in Good Hands with Allstate...” What A BIG JOKE!! My truck had a hit-and-run done to it and, because I let my son drive it in the past, they have declared my policies on all three on my vehicles void and refused to pay for damages. The adjuster came to my house and treated my wife and I like criminals. Accusing us of lying and trying to fraud the company. I have been waiting for six weeks for a reply and finally got one. I have paying insurance premiums for 35 years with very minimal claims and this is the way you get treated. All insurance companies pretend they are your friend but I am telling you to never trust an agent, adjuster or other employee of the company. Avoid Allstate Insurance because you are not in good hands…
Avoid this company, they will steal your money. You can not do a claim even if it is not your fault because it will increase 75%. They have colluded with vehicle repair centers. Both agreed an amount of damages that doesn't exist in your car. When you try to talk with some representative they never show up or call you again.
I've had continuous insurance since 1993, with only 1 claim in my life with another company 10 years ago. Class 1 , commercial driver with sometimes 2 thousand miles a week accident free driving.
When shopping around for full coverage auto insurance, after submitting all requested information for a quote the agent not only did not return my phone call, he would not follow up after repeated requests to do so. If a customer does not fit your criteria, then at least be professional enough
to answer their quote request after hours of discussion, days of waiting, and multiple requests for an answer.
If thats how they operate then perhaps it's a good thing i decided to take my business elsewhere.
them
Based on my experience with this company as a victim of a car accident with an allstate policy holder, I will never ever recommend this company to anyone.I was not at all at fault for this accident, a lady ran the red light and hit my car. They want to cover only 80 % of the damage and on top, I'm stuck with the rental car expenses.
I had an accident 5 month ago. Wasn't my fault, I had to pay deductible till they get the police report. It's been 5 months, the car is been fixed. Not only they didn't pay back my deductible but they didn't pay to body shop either. Now body shop keeps calling me to pay for the car that been fixed because insurance company are not getting back to them.
I had a weird experience with customer service always trying to bully me on extras and endless questions. Unlike companies like Belair, their customer service desk works on commission, so they're keen to sell even if it's not the right product for you. This is an American company selling into Canada, but I found it not professional at all and I spoke to 3 of their helpdesk guys trying to find answers. I'm glad I didn't bite, as I imagine the pain of processing a claim with this helpdesk. It's a challenge finding a good insurance company. Companies like Aviva offer better prices, but their helpdesk is in India, most don't understand English, they work from a script. So I went with Belair and left Allstate in the dust!
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Hi, My name is Frank from Calgary. Our neighbor backed into our rusted 2000 Dodge Durango which was parked in front of our house across the street from her driveway. So we called our insurance company, Allstate, and went to North Star Ford auto body shop to get the repair done. After 2- 1/2 weeks we began to wonder what was going on, so we called the auto body shop. They told us that the vehicle would be a write off, and an appraiser at Allstate would be assessing it soon. I also talked to the mechanic who said it was a 3200 dollar repair. Another couple of weeks went by without any calls, so we called Allstate to see how much of a pay out we would be receiving. They told me that it might not be a write off, and it was appraised as 2600 dollars damage, but it could be a while before they will know for sure. I made it known to her that the vehicle was not worth the 2600 dollar repair she quoted, but she was not encouraging at all. So after waiting for a reply back, another week passed by and nothing. I called to see what was going on, to which Allstate replied, the vehicle was assessed as not being a write off and repairs are under way.
We had waited so long that we ended up buying another vehicle and had asked if North Star could perhaps sell the vehicle for us since the repairs had already begun. A few days later we got a call from the North Star Mechanic who proceeded to tell me that they had a used car dealership look at the vehicle and would not offer more than 600 dollars for it. He told me that it had been a nightmare from day one going back and forth with Allstate and that it should have been written off at the very beginning. How could the appraiser have valued the car at 3400 when it is not worth more than 600 to a used car dealer? I waited for so long and had such an ordeal that I am writing this to deter anyone from going through the same thing I went through with Allstate insurance. I will likely be looking for a new insurance company. Any suggestions?

Nov 8, 2016, the day of US general election, the 3rd day after the time change(daylight savings to standard). It was a wet evening. The visibility was not good. That was pretty much the circumstance in which we were involved in the traffic accident.
I won't discuss any of the accident details here. Just want to say at the time we just switched our insurance policy from a company with which we had been for 20 years without any at our fault claim. The accident occurred after I made a left turn on a green light.
After the accident , a tow truck driver asked me, "who are you insured with?" "Allstate " I answered. The driver then said: good. The voice was light, but the tone was firm. For us, it was not so optimistic.
The car was no longer drive-able , so we got a rental car onsite.
The next morning we reported the accident to the company, telling them about the rental car. The claim process started smoothly. Due to the fact that the car was a leased one, there were some communications among insurance , leasing company and us. There were no hard questions. The staff were helpful & dedicated.
The car ended up being a total write off. We got the green light to lease a new car in a timely manner. On Nov 20, we got a newly leased car, less than two weeks after the accident so we could return the rental car before long.
The car was fairly valued as far as we were concerned.
There was no dispute during the whole process which was beyond our expectations.
Our policy will be due for renewal in August this year. We are optimistic about our future with Allstate.
