I don’t recommend Cooperators

Very pleasant folks, but I was very disappointed with the coverage. (or lack of) on water damage in my basement. The entire policy is rigged in their favour with a lot of covering disclaimers so that they don't have to pay. I have been a loyal customer with Aaron Cronk in Oakville for many years but will not be dealing with them again.
I had a flood in my basement, luckily I could fix it by hitting the sump pump and it started again, so I prevented further damages. I only called insurance because I noticed puddles and I stressed it's under my floorboards. I've been waiting 4 hours for someone to come without even telling them I've fixed it from further damage... My house could be completely flooded right now and I still would have had to wait 4 hours. I have been with this company for 17 years and this is my first claim. So disappointed. NO LOYALTY!
Agent from Co operators came to pre inspect my newly purchased house in Trenton, it had been renovated top to bottom, he was amazed at the fact that everything was new and immediately they asked for more
money to up the value, I was from another province and alone, sent the
extra money in and moved in, 2 weeks later had a giant flood, it seems a large hole was patched in the floor when a beam was removed from the renovation and covered with carpet, agent never came until 5 days later and severe damage was done, I was on my own and had to throw 1250 square feet of new carpet out, lost fireplace, shower and all rooms were with water damage, after I nearly had a stroke cleaning up the agent came and said its not covered and left. No warm and fuzzy feelings there! I had to call and have basement redone and then have a new renovation done, am now $40,000 in the hole, do not ever use Co operators in Trenton, Ontario. I was told just after purchase I had flood insurance by them.!
After being assured by the agent that I was covered for everything and being sucked in to that warm fuzzy feeling, I found Co-Operators to be full of it. I insure everything I own with Co-Operators and have never had a claim. I pay them over $14,000 a year in premiums.( I own a lot of stuff.)
I had about an inch of water in my basement when some of my neighbours had 6 feet. It came in through a window well. Minimal damage but I thought I would use this a a test for them. No one from Co-Operators ever even came to my house when I got a letter saying I was denied the claim because the damage was caused by rain water. Co-operators is history with me now. Don't believe anything they say about multiple lines of insurance will get you better treatment. Remember NO insurance company is your friend. You have to play hardball with them

We had a basement flood caused by a blocked drain in our walkout. Cooperators sent their contracted investigator out. He assured us the damage would be covered. Talked to someone near Ottawa who denied our claim and became rude and argumentative when I questioned him on his decision. Extremely poor customer service. It took him almost 4 days to deny our claim. If I hadn’t done the tear out of all my carpet, under padding, trim and 1 ft of drywall myself it would have sat their collecting mould for those 4 days. After being denied I found out it still counts as a claim because I notified them and they sent out an investigator to do a report. So frustrating. Cooperators is awful.
