I have been trying to cancel my policy with them for over 4 hours! I wait on hold for ~45 minutes listening to fuzzy music that is barely audible, then I get through to someone and tell them that I'd like to cancel my policy and they tell me that they will need to transfer me. This has happened now 6 times! Completely outrageous and unethical behaviour from a company. I'm sure if I was telling them that I was purchasing something they would immediately grab my credit card number. I highly recommend anyone to stay away from them as I believe they are an extremely shady company.
I bought household insurance. I moved. I called to say I was moving because I did not want to insure a home I was not living in. They kept my old address on file anyway. Then a payment got missed and they sent my notice to the old address. They did not try to call. Three months later they took whatever they felt was right out of my account and made an agreement with the bank to try again in three days if it didn't go through. Wow. Where were my human rights in this? Why can't they update their information? And in the end, they cancelled me like I was the entire problem. It felt more like I was dealing with a collection agency than an insurance company. Rude and unfair!
We had a freaky situation where a tree fell on our power line causing a surge and blowing out many of our electrical household items.
The National Claims Specialist (Randi) dealt with our claim in an efficient and professional manner.
I recommend Aviva Home Insurance.
We made a claim for water damage resulting from a broken hose on the washing machine in our second-floor laundry room. The contractor responded quickly with the delivery of a dehumidifier, but that dehumidifier stayed in our dining room for months despite frequent calls to you and the contractor. It was finally removed when we threatened to sell it. The insurance agent and the contractor then stated that our ceiling had been stippled and the ceiling damage was a result of removal of this stipple, not water damage. This was false as the house was built in 2010 and the builder testified that no ceiling was stippled; however, both the insurance agent and the contractor steadfastly held on to this claim that this did not represent water damage. The water damage was eventually repaired, but suboptimally. The subcontractor remarked to us at the time that he was only allowed to put two coats of paint on the repair because the insurance company and contractors had stated that they would not pay for a third coat which would result in a normal-appearing ceiling rather than a defective ceiling. Subsequent to this repair, secondary lesions developed. We had a second contractor inspect the ceiling and he noted a tide mark extending beyond the kitchen into the hallway leading to our ground-level bathroom. Both the insurance agent and contractor stated that they did not believe the second contractor because they could not understand how this could happen; note that our trust levels were not high as these were the same people who stated, despite all evidence to the contrary, that our ceiling had been stippled. Furthermore, both the insurance agent and contractor should be well aware of hydrodynamics. I suspect the insurance agent and the selected contractor were in cahoots and that no one was representing our interests.
I got insurance and paid for it from 2007 until November 2019. I lived in my house till 2014 and sold it. And even all the years I lived there I never got a letter mailed to me I never got a phone call. I assumed I didn't have insurance. I thought I was cancelled. A very good friend bought my house on a hand shack and trust. I know I never checked my bank records but with no correspondents, no letters, nothing. I thought I was cancelled until one day in November 2019 I get a message via Facebook that I am still paying for insurance. So I went into the office to cancel my insurance and refused to sign anything till I received the first letter that I ever signed and the only one I signed. They couldn't find it and said I was lost in the system. They said less I didn't exist. So I'm not in the system but my bank account is and they could take money. I asked where my paperwork is? They said I signed a paper that was continuance. If they would have produced that I would have been fine but they can't. I was also told they only keep their records for 7 years. When I finally got my paperwork I got it for the years 1915.16.17,18, and 19. With a stamp on there that says - RECEIVED. TO WHICH I NEVER GOT. And the new owner even gave me all my mail. Nothing! So now they want to pay me out just over a thousand. While I paid them from 2007 till November 2019. They got my money and well I got nothing...
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
Cancelled my renewal due to not supporting rental properties anymore, and my husband having a marijuana conviction from 2011. Now, this has created an issue and a red flag for any other insurance companies. They did not send me a letter of cancellation on our primary residence which expired yesterday. I only found out because I received a letter for the other property, expiring Feb 25th. I've never ever paid late or had any issues. I had a 10-years discount with RBC which is why I went with Aviva originally. Now they have me scrabbling and a very stressful time trying to find insurance by the end of the day. Pretty rude.
Steal your money. Our hard-earned money. When you have to make a 100% legitimate claim. They find every dishonest excuse to deny your coverage. Paid home insurance for 30 years absolutely dishonest people. They do not honour what they sell. Read all these reviews of customers who are cheated this is deplorable. Stay away from AVIVA.
A water leak in the basement from AC and water tank occurred. We tried to get a resolution, from contractors for these units, it took the different contractors a while to get the matter under wraps but there was substantial damage to the floors and walls. Someone recommended contacting our insurance "AVIVA" to cover damages. We contacted them, but saw a whole lot of run around on the subject with no effort on their behalf to give us a solution after a whole 2 weeks calling them each day, as they would never call or email back, when they said they would, and I'm trying to get a solution while they putting it off to another day. They finally decided - "Oh sorry, you are not covered. We decided this type of damage is due to an ongoing leak." Anyone reading this please take your money and run from this company! They just want your money and when you have a claim they will just give you the old run around! I would give NO STARS but no option exists for that.
We had a claim in April 2019 it is now the end of Oct 2019 and we are still not done. Our basement flooded. They lost our claim and when we called for an update they asked if we are an Aviva customer. I got bounced from person to person. Anytime I tried to contact our claims adviser it would take days-weeks before getting an answer. I had to reach out multiple times asking for a manager to get anything done. The customer service is terrible I would give it a 0 if I could. We already had to live with losing our stuff we had to deal with a company that didn't care about us. I would not recommend Aviva and I will be switching insurance as soon as my claim is done.
DO NOT insure with Aviva. We had two relatively minor claims within 5 years, one for wind damage and one for flood damage. The second claim was processed with no mention that doing so would mean they would not renew our coverage. In fact, we updated them on Aug 26 with all of the updates we had completed to avoid future claims and our premium actually went down slightly. Then on Sept 10th, we get a registered letter telling us our coverage will not be renewed in October! In the middle of a pandemic and they advise us 5 weeks before our policy expires that we won't be renewed, nice! I am supposed to receive a call from someone within the next 24 hours so we will see what they say but if they do not reverse this decision I will be cancelling all of my auto insurance and I may remove all of my funds from them and go elsewhere. I'm not doing business with a company that behaves like this! I suggest you look elsewhere for insurance!
