Claim Refused

I have been with Allstate for Auto and Home for over 20 years - claim free. In the past few years Allstate now offer "claim forgiveness" but when I put in a claim, last year, for a $1000 item, my home policy rate this year took a 30% hike - no explanation provided - just general hike ... Also, after separating from my husband - our truck (in both our names) was stolen. Allstate paid my husband out in full and I received nothing. When I called our agent, Jack H, to complain, he said "I understand why your husband left you" - nice!!
Can't wait till it's policy renewal time as I will NOT be renewing with Allstate. After 3 1/2 years with Allstate, I am done! Apparently, I had been getting a discount I was not entitled to. Mortgage information had not been added to my policy when I switched to Allstate. They never asked for that info when the policy was set up. Now that it has been added, my premium has increased, not by much but still unfair as it was not my error. What I am not happy about is the fact that when I questioned this I was basically told I was lucky they are not going to backdate me so I should be happy and if I continued to ask questions they will backdate it. Not a fan of being threatened! Also - the only insurance company that I have been with that raises rates (home & auto) EVERY year even though I've never had a claim!
NEVER USE ALLSTATE! I am attempting to resolve a claim with Allstate and it’s one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I bought a Chevrolet car and it came with roadside assistance. When the car failed to start one morning, I had roadside assistance come to my home to tow it. A cable broke on the tow truck and it damaged my driveway and carport. Chevy is insured by Allstate, so I made my claim with them. I promptly furnished an estimate and have had over 20 email and phone communications with Nathan S. and Rodney N. in an attempt to get the repairs to my home. My driveway has several deep gouges and scratches. Because it’s coloured concrete, it’s impossible to simply patch (the red colour, faded by the sun for a decade, cannot be matched). The repair estimate is $6,000. After a week, Allstate offered to pay $500. As we disputed the claim, I asked S. to help me understand whether Allstate disagreed that the concrete could not be matched or if Allstate felt I should accept a visibly patched driveway. He refused to answer, so I asked him again: “Would you please answer my question. A or B. A. You believe that the concrete can be repaired to match. B. You believe I should accept a repair that shows a mismatched patch. I will send a photo showing the damage again so you understand it is not only two sections.” His terse reply was: “We will pay to fix only the damaged area of the driveway. You have turned in one estimate at this time. Will not pay the estimate you sent in for a complete driveway replacement. I am leaving it at that.” After another phone call and after I called Chevrolet, I received this email from S.: “From: S., Nathan Sent: Wednesday, November 01, 2017 11:25 AM Subject: RE: XXX driveway Done and paid” That was the complete email. But when I didn’t receive a check after two weeks, I inquired. S. answered: “From: S., Nathan Sent: Tuesday, November 14, 2017 11:44 AM Subject: RE: xxx driveway I was just made aware that I had sent you an email that states "done and paid". That is not on your case. I am very sorry about that but your case is under review with GM as well as management above me. Sorry for the confusion and we will update you as soon as we have an update on your case. I also don’t just email "done and paid" to customers. Any Email I send will have more context than that regardless if it is a denial or an approval.” Yes, seriously. That’s what he sent. Since that date, I asked to speak to a supervisor but S. refused. I asked, again, my original question about whether Allstate thinks I should accept a visibly patched driveway or if they don’t believe the colour can be matched but they refused to answer. I asked what Allstate’s standard for claim processing is and did not get a direct answer. It’s going on two months now and I’m no closer to getting my house fixed. Worst insurance company ever.
Do not use this company. Terrible customer service, but glad to take your money. They will send out an inspector for your home and invade your privacy, (look in your nightstand and private closet) and private bedroom and bathrooms 99% of the time will find something you have to repair at hundreds of dollars and a very short time to do any repairs. My house has stood for eighty years without bannisters but apparently, Allstate is determined for me to spend good money to correct their perceived problem, all the time standing behind "law requires" This house has been inspected many times with no issues. Don't even think of complaining to them. The condescension is palpable. They have absolutely no respect for their customers and I would never recommend them to anyone.
Been battling since august for a 50$ fee for a declined payment that wasn't my fault.
Agents either don't respond to emails or keep asking for additional documentation.
Incredible
Edmonton office. I phoned for a quote and they beat my the insurer I was with so I went with them. Compared apples to apples. Two weeks after paying the full premiums the invoices started to arrive for more money.(four invoices in a month all different amounts). I called my agent and was told the distance from my house to the fire hydrant was the reason. One hydrant is two houses away the other is three houses away. Two hydrants on my block. When I add the 4 invoices to the premiums already paid my insurance is now considerably higher than my previous insurers. Calling the office and asking to speak with someone in a management position does no good. They are always in meetings with their agents and do not call back. Will not insure with them again. Beware of their tactics to gain clients.
3 months into my new policy I got a letter stating that I need to pay the full year's difference on my home and auto policies or they will be cancelling my policies within 10 days if payment was not received. The money was in my account (I had more than enough to pay for the year, let's put it that way), but the error was on their end an not mine! Fast forward a few months later: I just bought a new home and called them, giving 2 weeks notice that I would like to transfer my policy to my new home. 4 days before I take possession of my new house, they call to inform me they are discontinuing my policy, the reason: I own a pit bull puppy, who is crated when I am at work and in a fenced yard!! My dog is friendly and playful and has never been an issue! Besides, I don't even think BSL is legal in Canada. If you have a dog that is considered a "dangerous breed", DON'T insure with them!!! Now I am fighting to get my money back :(
After being with them for over 20 years....i never missed a payment and for the fist time ever and due to my bank card that it got changed and couldn't access my online back accounts while on holidays, they submitted a payment late (which was the reason the money wasn't there) and the payment got back to them due to NSF in the account (because i was going to close that account)... they charged me $50.00 on top of my Bank already charging me $48.00 for it, and i called the office and told them not not to submit the any payments until i got back (need it to wait for 1 day)...and they did submitted again, and they charged me another $50.00 for NSF and my Bank another $48.00.
in total i paid $196 for that transaction. I called the Bank, and they voided one of the $48.00, and called again Allstate, but they didn't care, they told me that they couldn't do nothing about it, not even for the one i personally called and told them not to charge yet and wait for me to be there next day. After 20 years never missed a payment? And this is how you get treated, they do not care about you, they only care about your money!!!!
Do your self a favor and go with someone that cares for you!
As i bought a home , i approached the company for home insurance after sending me a quote they said they couldnt insure me, and woudnt give me a policy number. I was very disappointed as annual premium was low so i went and got another insurance company to insure me. 03 months later i recieve a letter from this company telling me i owe 03 months of insurance premium that is due. One i went through the hassle of disclosure and getting a quote then didnt recieve any policy and now i owe them money for giving me nothing but run around.

In 2017, my balcony fell to the ground because of heavy snow and bad construction unknown to me. I understand the reasoning behind the refusal to pay. However, unforgivable was the service I received. They said an adjuster was on his way, and when he never showed up after a week and several phone calls, they told me they were very very busy with recent floods, and told me to do the work, take pictures and send to them. I refused to do their work, a few words were exchanged, we were not on good terms, and finally, they sent someone to check the cottage and the adjuster more or less condemned my cottage without seeing the interior. He advised the Allstate to not insure my place, which had just been renovated. The veranda was scheduled for the following year. So Allstate cancelled my insurance which was due to expire and never notified me. I had a hard time to get insurance and when I did, it cost me approx. $700. More per year for a seasonal (6 mo.) Cottage worth less than $100,000. We are NOT in Good hands with Allstate
