Claims adjuster offered a settlement amount when our truck was stolen and asked us to consider the amount and get back to her by the end of the day. When I called back her voicemail said that she would be away on vacation for two weeks. The claim was very poorly handled and took a rediculously long period of time to finalize.

Horrible adjuster. I'm going to be taking my business elsewhere once my insurance lapses. Here totally screwed me on my massages. I had a massage therapist that was super unprofessional. I was approved for all my massages for 28 and I had to change massage therapist so it took me 2 months to find another one. My massage therapist was racist and now I'm told that I have to pay out of pocket for half of my massages and she's only covering $350 when they told me I was allowed to get 28 massages. Desjardins is a joke!

I should have swithced

I should have switched insurance companies when Desjardin took over for State Farm. They over-billed me for several years and told me nothing about a cancellation fee. I would rather walk than insure another vehicle with these criminals.

Worst Representative

My car was gone due to hail damage, without my fault! They harass me, they simply ignore our calls and don't ever reply to you back for our claim. The worst experience with the adjuster, she didn't even bother to call you back or reply to your email. I am waiting for last month with no response ever.

Certas

After 43 years with State Farm was informed by Certas/Desjardins after they took over that if I didn’t consent to my information being shared with all Desjardins insurance companies my policy would be cancelled. Bought a new trailer last week and Certas software would not allow the agent to complete policy unless I provided my level of education and my job title prior to retiring. Also required my spouse’s info. Last year my credit card was hacked 4 times in one month and after switched Certas/Desjardins to direct bank withdrawal no more problems!

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Worse than the accident

by The Dave on Nov 24, 2016

My ordeal took 2 months.

I had to make car payments on a car they took possession of (total loss). All instructions given were incomplete, wrong or unclear. I was lied to repeatedly, told things would be done but they never were. It took dozens of calls to force things to move. More than a month after my accident, they finally sent a check by regular mail a full week after saying they were sending it by express mail. And they kept treating me like I was somehow wrong to expect them to simply do what they said they would do.

And then I tried cancelling the insurance. That alone took four different people, a full week and many calls. I was told it would be done by them after the settlement, that I had nothing to do. The same person who told me that then told me I was responsible for cancelling the insurance when I called after they charged me another month for a car they legally owned. She seemed quite happy about my demise. I genuinely believe she took pleasure from screwing with honest people.

After many days and many calls, I finally got an agent that wasn't a sociopath, and that didn't understand at all why everything was so poorly handled. She said all she had to do was click on Cancel, demonstrating all the other agents were either lying or incompetent.

The accident was a pleasant experience compared to dealing with Desjardins. I'd rather get rammed by 20 more trucks than have to deal with them again.

And top it all off, every other car insurance company charges less than they do. I thought paying more was worth it for the service... I just paid more to be insultingly mistreated.

crooks DO NOT GO WITH THEM!

by catab on Nov 2, 2016

Our neighbors toddler while having a tantrum threw her bottle of milk over the balcony. The bottle landed on our windshield, smashing it. The neighbor was very apologetic and offered to pay all the expenses, including the deductibles. When I told the insurance agent about this, he said he doesn't care - he did his job of fixing the windshield. In the meantime, we still ended up with 250$ bill. After years of appalling service we tried to cancel the insurance with them and Desjardins is charging us cancellation fees! What a bunch of crooks!

More than a scam

My car was hit while parked by a drunk driver. The police got the drunk driver and submitted all the papers and testimony to our insurance company. Of course, the accident was not our fault. However, Desjardins was insisting that there was no proof that it really was the drunk driver who hit our car - they had to wait until they got the court judgement confirming it really was that driver who hit our car.
Meanwhile, our car was parked at a garage (charging us about 30$ a day), even if it was a complete loss and scrap material - Desjardins insisted we kept it (and not to throw it away for scrap), so there was still proof of the accident. About 2 and a half months later, after many lawsuit threats, screams, and compulsive calling to them, they agreed to compensate us the 'value' of our car, which of course was super underpriced, and most of it went to pay for the parking fees we had accumulated (about 2500$).
total scam, and no one can/is doing anything about it! laws protect insurance crooks

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Don't buy . Terrible service.

I was injured in a car accident and it was my not fault . They did not care for my well being , they denied me treatment plans that were recommend by my Doctor and Physiotherapist . They had the nerve to spend money on private investigator to watch me , and pay another Doctor who was biased to do a test me , which you could have clearly seen I was in pain . That doctor gave a false report so I would not get treatment . Don't let a low price premium fool you when you need someone to help you.

To all you adjusters who made bonuses and raises for deny treatment plans , I hope you rot in hell for the people you made suffer.
