Do NOT go with this company, they will drag out a claim for as long as they want. I believe that the longer they drag out a claim, people will just give up or settle. This company is horrible and do not care about the people that they insure.!!!!Go with another company......... I speak from expiernce
Portage Mutual in St. Albert is an incredibly disrespectful, inconsiderate and unprofessional company. The claims adjuster from Canadian Claims starts out as your best friend, by the end of the claim was screaming at us on the phone and then hanging up on us. FYI, we were told that when your vehicle gets stolen, and is recovered, that the responsibility is on the owner to ensure that it gets fixed properly, and in a timely manner. So why exactly did we need that adjuster who outright lied to cover her own mistakes, yelled, and hung up on us? We were told "It's common sense that you would look after your own vehicle after a theft". Common sense says RUN AWAY from Portage Mutual, and if you get assigned Canadian Claims, plead for a new adjuster!
Discovers that I was able to get insurance for my two cars elsewhere for almost $700.00 less!!!!!!!!!!
A semi hit my parked car, portage did not helped me they told me the rental car would be transferred to the other insurance company after my policy limit was up. Then they decided the shop took too long. so i should pay for the rental. my car is not running the way it was before the semi hit it. And portage didn't even deal with the other company.. they made me call the other company... i have full coverage for my car, and i feel i was treated like a low class citizen. the adjuster even went as far as talking to me like " if you don't have the money" when the truth is i just wanted my car back the way it was before the accident, and i wanted to be treated with some respect.... when this claim is settled i will find a company that stands up for their clients especially with they are Not at fault!!!!!! as of now the cost of the damage is being paid by My husband and my self!!!!!
Good experience so far, but I have had no reason for a claim and I have been with the company for only a couple of years.
My rates appear to compare well with others.
We recently made a claim for an accident & they have called and emailed numerous times asking the same information over and over. They continue to attempt to contact my husband through my email instead of replying to his address. The claim has been dragged out for months
Recently I made a change, for years I had been planning on moving all the insurance needs under one broker, which is good for a whole host of reasons, one of which is discounts. At the end of October, it was time to retire our Dodge Charger, and we opted for a brand new Nissan Murano.. Very happy with it by the way, Highly recommended. So life is great with new wheels, but as with all material things in our life sometimes accidents happen. A nice gentlemen accidentally hit our unoccupied parked car. We swapped info and called our respected insurers. Now is the part that I would have thought would have been painless, however I was quite surprised to find out that my insurer was actually not interested in a complete repair on my two month old vehicle. At least not what I would consider a complete repair, not on a two month old car. So after two weeks of chasing adjusters trying to get them to pony up for a new fender instead of just patching the original one I am stuck with forking over the funds myself to get this repaired properly, oh to be fair they are covering some of the damages. I think at the end I hope I'll face a bill under a $1000 beside I only have to buy a new fender and get extra blending for the hood, but with this serious break in trust and confidence I find myself with serious buyers regret with this insurer. I am just thankful that it wasn't a more serious accident, If you can't trust em with the small stuff how can you be sure that when the chips are down these guys would be there for you?
