Worst experience ever!!

The folks there at ama were nice at first, but once i was onboard the customer service went right out the window! Very long story short; they will do whatever it takes to shirk responsibility and avoid paying anything! My advise? Do not under any circumstances go with ama for anything!

Harassment

1.5 out of 5 stars

Was t-boned, other driver took 100% fault. Originally the claim was going well until we rejected the low-ball offer for my written-off vehicle. My vehicle was in perfect condition except for the cracked windshield as per the adjuster. We told him we’d have to think about it as it seemed horribly low. He then proceeded to call me 6 times, text me, and email twice, all within two hours!! My husband then emailed him stating how unprofessional he was conducting himself and that we would be consulting with a lawyer. Upon doing that, we were advised to only communicate through email and take as long as we need. Months even. Almost 2 months later and lots of comparison vehicle we had to search online we got 50% more than the original offer. AMA is not here to help you or look out for you. They were awful. An accident that was NOT my fault and I was made to feel like I was being attacked by the insurance company who’s supposed to be on my side.

Don’t use them

Underwriters were nice but salesmen usually aren't. When it came time for my claim, they told me what I thought should happen but the adjuster and appraisal changes their numbers 3-4 times to get out of a payout

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Wouldn't even choose them if it was my last resort. Communication on their end was horrible, not friendly, not helpful. Would recommend ANY other insurance company

10+ years with ama and....

I have been a client with AMA for over a decade. This year I was thinking about working for Uber, so I called AMA to see what I would need to do if I were to work for them. They gave me information, great and I said I would call back if I decided to work for them. I failed my class 4 and opted not to work for Uber... several months later I get a call from some AMA guy asking me about what I use my car for, I advised him I used it to get to work and back and for personal. He asked me if I used it for business, I told him No, he told me that it was because I called inquiring about uber... and I let him know that I decided against it. About a couple weeks later I received mail, advising me that my Insurance will be cancelled and to seek insurance elsewhere. It was a good day.

AMA could care less

by Clay E on Mar 9, 2018

AMA auto insurance is not competitive. No demerits, one 3yr old speeding ticket. 3-year customer. Their renewal quote $300 per month higher than others. Big new buildings to pay for and lots of dead weight in the offices. No wonder they were ripped off millions by an executive employee.Foxes guarding the hen house.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Stealing From a Dead Woman

My mother had home and auto insurance with AMA. My mother passed away on May 18 and on June 2 I contacted AMA to cancel her policies. I was asked to submit her Funeral Directors Statement of Death which I did by email. In my email I formally requested cancellation of her policies and asked to be contacted if anything else was needed to complete my request. I received a confirmation email that they received my request and I heard nothing from anyone at AMA so I assumed everything was closed.

The following month I noticed that two withdrawals had been made from my mothers account. AMA had withdrawn payments from her account despite my request to cancel and submission of proof of her death. I called in and the agent I spoke with advised that yes they had received my documents and that their "legal department" was still processing my request. I asked the agent how they could take money from a client they knew was dead and she was quite rude in her reply that I just "be patient".

As of today's date they have withdrawn six payments from my mothers account, I have not heard back from AMA or their so-called legal department. They won't respond to my email and I keep being told that a supervisor will call me but nothing. I don't know what else to do and feel that they are actively and knowingly stealing from my late mother. The lack of compassion and responsibility to do the right thing is shocking from such a well known company.

Terrible claims experience

by Ksider on Jun 29, 2017

I've been with AMA for 3 years and have never had a claim. My new car 7000 km on it caught fire outside my house it's on camera and I've provided fire investigators and AMA with photos.
Ama authorized a rental because I've got full coverage including loss of use well two days after authorizing it the claims officer decided that I'm not intitiled to a rental because fires don't happen everyday so to her it's suspicious ( foul play was ruled out by the fire dept when they reviewed camera and reviewed car ) I argued and was told by her supervisor if I can afford a new car I can afford my own rental.
Now they are supposed to be doing an investigation and the cars been sitting outside my house burnt for three days, I'm not an investigator but wouldn't a scene be contaminated after that period of time ?
My biggest thing is from the moment I called ama they made me feel like I did something wrong, they took away the rental that I've been paying for years for just in case and told me to pay for my own I even had the insurance manager go to claims saying I'm covered and they still said I'm not getting one until they do their investigation. All I can say is I feel horrible for recommending AMA to friends and family and if you are thinking about ama please don't do it they are a huge corporation who does what they want policy doesn't matter signed documents are ignored ama was fantastic until I actually needed them.
Thank you

AMA quote

by Iviet on Jan 11, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

I took quote from AMA and I was given 3750 for 2017 Acura MDX.I phoned Td insurance and State Farm insurance to compare the price. Td insurance gave me 1627 and state farm gave me 1521..but AMA insurance quote was 3700 which is even more than double.
Next day AMA email me and said they will give me 1000 discount.
Time waste to phone AMA..worst company I ever seen.
