My house got hit by the lightning on July 16 and the adjuster is absolutely useless. The file was transferred to contractors who hired subcontractors. They came, took pictures and everyone is throwing the ball to the other. I have at least 10 appliances that are damaged and the roof and from July 16 until today, August 30, nothing was done. When I call, I'm told the adjuster is on holidays and when I ask to talk to a manager, I'm told that it is not possible and I'll be called within 24 to 48 hours which never happens. A bunch of liers and unprofessional. When it comes to get your money they are great but when it comes to repair your stuff, they disappear and hide. The worst company, cancel your contract with them right away, they don't care about customers, claims...
Unacceptable. You have a replacement cost policy. Unless it is a newer roof and can be matched, most companies replace the entire roof. On older roofs that are still good there are matching, color and toning issues. No one does this anymore. It is the cheap way out. You should have received a new roof. I recommend you call your lawyer if it cannot be matched. You should have been given a replacement roof under your replacement cost policy. Once again, Desjardins cutting corners. I wouldn't buy their product..

Trying to settle hail claim. The roof was replaced with minor issues. Took a while for the adjuster to approve the quote claiming doubling up of charges. Was frustrating, but got resolved. Our current siding has been discontinued, and we are fighting to get Desjardins to replace the siding on the entire house. We have significant damage on one side and very minor damage on two sides. They feel that the wording, “direct damage only” in the fine print protects them from having to replace all the siding. According to the adjuster, my options are to pay out of pocket to replace the siding on the undamaged areas or have a house with mismatched siding!! Unbelievable!! I’m still waiting to hear from the management team to see if this can be resolved appropriately. First time I have ever heard of an insurance company taking this position! Really wish I had chosen differently! Two close friends in the area have their homes back to the condition it was in prior to the hail damage. Both had to get a full siding replacement because the colour was discontinued. Both had insurance companies that took care of it for them hassle-free.
A huge tree fell and broke the roof of my parents’ house. This happened 6 weeks ago, and still no repair work has been done, other than putting plastic over the holes to stop rain from causing any more damage inside. My parents have not even received an appraisal of what the damage is! Meanwhile, the neighbour’s house, which was also damaged, has already been repaired: they are with a different insurance company, obviously a more reputable one.
