Denied coverage

by Marty on Apr 11, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I have had 9 rental properties insured with Peace Hills for 10 years. We just had a fire last year and Peace Hills immediately denied the coverage based on a technicality in the contract we had with them. It was an awful experience and we ended up losing a property and had to sell another one to cover the loss. We couldn't even talk to anyone at Peace Hills as they wouldn't return calls and kept referring to 'future liability' if they were to engage in discussions about our claim. We recently switched insurance companies and got premiums 30% cheaper. Whatever you do, avoid this company if you can. Their website is all about how they are "a unique insurance company that truly cares" and I assure you that is just bait to get your business. They are a great company when you are paying them premiums and a horrible company when you need them.

Peace Hills are crooks

My mother-in-law passed away, one representative told me no worries, let me know when probate is complete and we can put a new policy in your name. My mother-in-law was insured through
this company for over 20 years, never had a claim, never late on a payment. They cancelled the insurance as soon as probate was finalized, left us high and dry with no coverage scrambling to get coverage for a vacant house which apparently is difficult. Who knew? There is a word for these guys and I wouldn't go through them if they were the last company available. PS. Their rates... way higher than everyone else we checked with!

Crooked Insurance Company

by Executor of Estate on Aug 22, 2017
1.5 out of 5 stars

I became the executor of my sister's estate. I found out that Peace Hills insurance had double the square footage of her home and subsequently had overcharged the home insurance for more twenty years. It amounted to about twice as much as she would normally would have paid.

When it came time to renew the policy, they claimed that the rate had changed because her late husband was no longer with the company Telus and the policy would double.

I cancelled the policy. I do not deal with crooks.

Horrible

Worst experience ever. I paid for a year of coverage and they come back wanting additional unreasonable terms and they want to reduce the coverage period from the year (I already paid for). Insurance companies are not generally great to deal with but Peace Hills is especially a joy to do business with.

Horrible

I had to make 2 claim experiences with this company and both were horrible. My basement flooded and the quality of the repairs were terrible. The hail destroyed my roof and fence and they denied the claim saying it was normal wear and tear. This is a bad company. Save your money and go with a reputable company!

No settlement yet, over a year

by Pat on Oct 29, 2015

I have paid my premiums for years without delays, never ever had to have a claim, until a year and a half ago. I was very badly robbed. This company is dragging this claim out with all kinds of added requirements. I have provided everything that was asked, they have the police report, yet I still have no compensation . And this is a year and a half wait and no settlement. Why does our government allow Insurance companies to do whatever they will with people to make life miserable for a person. We pay for insurance coverage, they get our money, because we are lead to believe that we have coverage. Apparently this is not so. It appears to me as legalized crime???? This is so very wrong.
