I decided before my accident I needed to change from wood to less labour intensive heating. I picked out oil as the most economical and informed Gore from day 1 as I know insurance companies can be sticky. They sent me a list of requirements that I followed exactly SPENDING $3000 MORE than necessary to comply with their unnecessary demands. Finally, it was all done and they promptly threatened to cancel my home insurance... no reason was given. After about 8 weeks I managed to get another insurance company... They turned around and told me it was ME THAT WANTED TO CANCEL NOT THEM, and continued to take payments out of my account. It has been a nightmare nearly had a nervous breakdown over it. I wish I could give minus 10 to Gore.
I had my home broke into while I was away. I was absolutely devastated! The adjuster started out great, but then when it came to paying, they were all over the place. Some contractors I had to pay and some were okay with insurance paying. I gave the adjuster ALL the info required for who to pay and how much and then the cheque’s would show up all wrong. Then they wouldn’t give me any help to replace any of my stuff. I had a full replacement and was told I had three years to replace my stuff but they would only pay full replacement once I submitted receipts. Now I have been told by a new adjuster that I have never talked too that my claim is closed and they have paid me out. They still owe me well over $10,000! Looks like I will have to find a lawyer that I can’t afford. If you have to put in a claim make sure to lawyer up or they will lie to you and essentially steal from you.
My claim was handled with friendly and efficient service. I am very happy with Gore Mutual
We Had Gore Mutual insurance for 7 years claim free. Our condo requires each year we have insurance. When we called to renew our insurance we were asked if we wanted to rent out the unit part-time. Gore Mutual said they would need a contract, we said: "How can we give you a contract when we are still living in there and don't have yet rented out the unit?", they then cancelled our policy, saying we were asking too many questions on if we were going to rent our unit out...
I have been trying for 2 weeks to talk to the insurance adjuster. I have had a water leak and they will not return my call. I would recommend you get your insurance with a different company!
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
I'm dealing with a fire in a unit below me - so smoke damage is not my fault - my insurance adjuster is making it seem like staying in a hotel is a vacation for me and I should be grateful. they didn't even pay for a 3 star hotel. is grungy and I want to be back in my own bed. he is rude and will ignore my calls and emails. awful service. I will be trying to get out of my insurance contract and find someone new.
Not happy at all with the claims service I have received. They don't trust their own site inspectors. They make up their mind how they would or what they would like to pay, then they try to bully their customer. Very FutureShop ish Gore. I will be moving away from them ASAP after 4 Years. I agree with an earlier comment. They only insure themselves. Careful of the 1 or 2 line positive reviews with no detail. It is probably Gore themselves.
Poor customer service. They put the blame on you. They take your money for years and years and when you have a small claim they deny you before you even have a chance to figure out how your items got damaged. No interest in helping you at all. Robbers!!
They were quick to take my money. Then in the month's following started requesting me to fill out more forms, send more pictures, fill out questionnaires and billed me for more money. From all the paperwork I was filling out, and the answers from the questions I was asking I was learning that Gore was only looking out for there own interests. I eventually cancelled both policies due to the fact that they went against the Tenancy Act in there lack of coverage. I could only imagine if I was to actually have a claim with Gore. Gore, they only insure themselves !
I cancelled my insurance with them. I had the cancellation papers at home. They still took a full year off payment out of my visa account, now a month later still no money back.
