Gore only insures themselves

20 years claim-free. A big storm blew in and demolished one of our buildings. First, they say - no problem we had lots of coverage and that if we made the claim our insurance would go up (high premiums to begin with). Well, we expected that. The next week, when they never told us when an adjuster was supposed to come it was then they told us we weren't covered! Cancelled them! Went somewhere else!
My elderly father who no longer drives cancelled his auto insurance with this company. The multi-line discount he was initially given to have both house and auto was 15%; when his auto was removed his home insurance went up 30%!!!! We enquired about this and were told that we had to live with it, and if we cancelled early in the policy we would lose even more money. This is highway robbery!!! We will not be insured by this Gore Insurance going forward. Buyer beware. Zero stars for this one.
I cancelled my insurance with them. I had the cancellation papers at home. They still took a full year off payment out of my visa account, now a month later still no money back.
I decided before my accident I needed to change from wood to less labour intensive heating. I picked out oil as the most economical and informed Gore from day 1 as I know insurance companies can be sticky. They sent me a list of requirements that I followed exactly SPENDING $3000 MORE than necessary to comply with their unnecessary demands. Finally, it was all done and they promptly threatened to cancel my home insurance... no reason was given. After about 8 weeks I managed to get another insurance company... They turned around and told me it was ME THAT WANTED TO CANCEL NOT THEM, and continued to take payments out of my account. It has been a nightmare nearly had a nervous breakdown over it. I wish I could give minus 10 to Gore.
We Had Gore Mutual insurance for 7 years claim free. Our condo requires each year we have insurance. When we called to renew our insurance we were asked if we wanted to rent out the unit part-time. Gore Mutual said they would need a contract, we said: "How can we give you a contract when we are still living in there and don't have yet rented out the unit?", they then cancelled our policy, saying we were asking too many questions on if we were going to rent our unit out...

They were quick to take my money. Then in the month's following started requesting me to fill out more forms, send more pictures, fill out questionnaires and billed me for more money. From all the paperwork I was filling out, and the answers from the questions I was asking I was learning that Gore was only looking out for there own interests. I eventually cancelled both policies due to the fact that they went against the Tenancy Act in there lack of coverage. I could only imagine if I was to actually have a claim with Gore. Gore, they only insure themselves !
