So I'm buying a home and shopping around for insurance. TDMM appears to have great rates, so I try to fill out the quote online. Something turns red and I have to call to complete the quote (another 45 minutes down the drain, but "oh, that's not a problem."). I get the quote in the mail, seems good. I call to request the policy. Umm... we can't find your quote. (Seems my # got reused). Spend 1/2 hour trying to find the original quote. Start all over again, spend another hour on the phone because the agent cannot correctly copy anything down over the phone. Me "1-2-3" ... he says "2-2-3?" I say, No, "1-2-3" he says "3-2-3?" You get the idea. Then we get to the end, but now it has to go to an underwriter for review, I'll call you back on... " Never heard from again. (I've tried getting auto policies before too, but they NEVER call back like they say they will). I can only conclude they don't WANT my business.
I called TD 6 weeks after my old tenants insurance policy expired. I was out of the country and didn't receive their letters until I returned. When I called to cancel they not only charged me for the pro-rated fee for the 6 weeks (which was fair enough) they also charged me a cancellation fee for cancelling mid-way through my contract. Despite never having agreed to a new contract or even paying for a new contract year I was on the hook for a new contract and it's cancellation fee. No matter who I spoke to their response didn't change. And when I asked what happens if I never got the letter, the manager said that would have been a different matter. So obviously there is a way to get out of that fee. So my advice is if this happens to you just lie and say you didn't get it.
They have lost a customer for life. So I hope the extra money was worth it them.
They told us they tried to contact us for some "information" which they never did call us, we received a letter telling us to call them so we did, then they tell us we broke a rule and we're cut off our insurances and cannot go back with them for 5 years because we didn't give them the "information" they sent us a letter for. Which we totally have no darn clue what the heck they want as for "information"... Worst company ever dealt with for insurance, will never go again with them not even in 5 years, not for home, not for auto and especially not for life!!! Never had anything like this before! Not to mention the terrible customer service, it just goes on and on and on! Never again!!!
I had any excellent experience when my hot water heater broke in 2006 and my basement was flooded. This year it has been a horrible process after having electronics stolen.
The adjuster was unbelievably rude. She didn't ask me any questions at all just went with the report that I gave earlier. She wasn't even aware of what had been stolen or the circumstances.
It was impossibly to get hold of her and she never returned any of my calls. I called her manager and her manager never returned my calls.
Many, many weeks and still no decision about paying my claim!!
I have had to go to the ombudsman!
After 20 years , TD sent us a letter telling us that we no longer meeting their underwriting guidelines . Two claims and two incidents in the past 3 years and that was enough for them . An incident is where you call the insurance company and talk to the claims department, at the end of the day we made no claims on theese calls becasue we just wanted to make sure that there was no damage during a hail storm . Am I not following due diligence by having them come out to check to make sure? According to their metrics , you can have one claim for $ 700,000 and your still OK in their eyes . If you have two claims totalling $50,000 and one incident , your a high risk client now. Time for them to say good-bye to you. As the client rep said , you are at higher risk of impacting our rate of return. I said if I have to move my home insurance and going to move my car insurance as well. TD response was " it really doesnt matter to us - go ahead"
Come Hell or High Water , TD won't be there !
After 20 plus years of being with Meloche Monnex they will no longer insure my home because I excersized my rights to make a claim. Since having two claims with our house in the past 5 year period they have dropped us and we are left to find another insurance provider at a much higher premium. They do not care how much business you give them.
Very helpful agents...take their time and explain the process and all premiums. Very helpful any time I call them!
The employees are very knowledgable regarding their products which is helpful in making important decisions.
One claim from ice storm. Service was all right. When Meloche Monnex was taken over by TD they re-inspected our home, which is a rental property (six-plex) and our premiums increased. Our coverage improved too and their rates remained competive.
My condo insurance premiums have increased 250% in 4 years with no claims. Why..??? nothing has increased 250%.. And now when I have a claim.. nothing but problems. Adjuster was rude and still no money/coverage
