Unreasonable wait times

We had damage to our roof. Filed a claim. They put forward a roofing co from their approved vendor list and assured us this was a reputable vendor. The roof was fixed, or so we thought. 2.5 to 3 years later we started seeing stains from the water on our ceiling. Called TD. They ignored us and when we finally did get a response it was just to say so sorry the warranty period is over and that roofing co is now bankrupt and they tried to convince us the damage was due to condensation (it wasn't). We had a certified roofer assess our roof. They took numerous photos and highlighted numerous deficiencies in the work done by the TD appointed roofing co. Things were on backwards, were not in place at all or were missing portions of the standard requirements. TD shot back that it is out of warranty and other excuses to disregard our claim. We now are out of pocket for the 1k paid for the deductible on the first claim, have increased monthly costs due to filing a claim and are now out of pocket 12k (we had the roof fully done by professionals to stop the damage to our interior). We also have water stains and missing chunks of the ceiling inside and who knows what other interior/exterior damage due to their recommended vendor's negligence...so will have more out of pocket costs to deal with the bad decision we made to trust TD when they recommended their "trusted and approved" roofing co to us. Lesson learned. If your insurance co puts forward a vendor for you to use don't accept them. Get an independent quote and find your own reputable roofing co to take on the work. I will start my search for a new company to take on our 2 cars, house and other insurance needs we currently do through TD Meloche Monnex. If we could afford a lawyer I would take them to court.
Wow! That's all I can say about their hold time. I tried calling them for over 1 month now and have not been able to get someone on the phone. Seriously now, my home phone's battery died on me each time. That tells you just how long I have been put on hold listening to their music. Trying again now and will send a note to the corporate office afterwards if there are really no customer service agents working.
I've found TD Monnex an extremely frustrating company to work with. They only prioritize gaining new customers and do not value retaining existing customers. After waiting on hold with them upwards of three hours several times (no matter if I called in the evening, first thing at 8 am or on a weekend), I tried selecting the option for new home insurance customers and they answered my call within the first 15 minutes. In one case, I received a voicemail from a representative who requested that I call back at the regular number for customers. After nearly four hours of waiting in one day, I finally talked to a representative who could not figure out why I had been told to call back in the first place as everything in my file looked completely up to date. I also had difficulties signing up for and accessing my online account.
I had to make a change to my insurance policy. I've collectively spent over 15 hours on hold, the longest individual hold being 4 hours. I tried using the call back feature for a new policy too, just to see if I could speak with somebody. That system wasn't working either - it would call and immediately hang up. Avoid like the plague.
Today marks 2 months since my home flooded due to a pipe rupture and I am still living in a hotel. I am still awaiting the damage quote so that I can go ahead and start hiring contractors. Spent the first 2 weeks calling my assigned "agent" 2 or 3 times a day seeking help and answers to questions, left voicemails, and have literally spoken/received emails from said agent 3 times in 2 months. This service is not just this agent. The morning of the flood I was given the name and number of my agent, only to discover on my own through multiple calls, that indeed this person was on holiday. I was told another person would call me.... that never happened. Finally, my current agent reached out. That was easily a couple of days after the flood. I will likely switch all my insurance (house, car, truck, side x side, 2 snowmobiles) to another company as soon as I get a payout.
Price is fine and I guess to some extent you get what you pay for. Be prepared to spend most of a day on hold with them if you need to make a change to your policy or speak with a human being. This is the fifth time I've tried to contact them in the last two months. The first four times I gave up after 2 hours. This time it's been 4 hours. Is there seriously no way to reach someone in this company?
My wife and I have attempted to contact TD Insurance Meloche to update our file, our coverage and report errors on Home Policy. We have stayed on hold for several hours on numerous occasions without success in reaching someone. There is no email address contact anywhere on my home insurance renewal. The voicemail message indicates a longer wait time because of COVID-19 but why would there be? Is staff not able to work from home and give the same service? There is no reason COVID-19 would increase your volume of people calling their home or car insurance, probably the reverse is true. This inadequate level of customer service is totally unacceptable from an insurance broker of your importance. Meloche Monnex had far superior customer service before it was purchased by TD. I have been a customer of Meloche Monnex for 30 years + We have 3 residences and 2 cars insured with and we are so disappointed with your level of customer service that we will likely change insurance provider if we ever succeed in reaching you. I tried again this morning, I called in at 9 am and was on hold for 3 hours until you disconnected the call (I guess after 3 hours, it disconnects) I have also tried to register to MyInsurance Online Services and got an error message I tried calling and got nowhere either.
I have received an approximately 30% increase. I am trying to call to justify an increase and try to get a better price? Impossible, they never answer the phone and this has been happening for a while. I'm on the phone for 4 hours and then they just hang up. Wow! This is difficult to understand? Does management see this or whoever is in the customer department? Whoever is the CEO of TD is incompetent to realize that the basis of a probability are the clients...
I used Meloche Monnex for my home insurance and rental insurance. Quite simply they were virtually impossible to get a hold of. I was on hold for hours over the course of 8 days, both on the telephone and the virtual agent online. I did not have a claim, thank goodness, but wanted to inquire about changes to my insurance. After this terrible experience, I have cancelled my insurance and will be going with a local agent where I can go in and speak with someone directly. In six years my premiums increased 36% - with no discussion or explanation. And no way to discuss the change because no one answers their phone.

The wait times were common throughout our usage of TD. One time they had a question about my employment, and since we missed the call we called back and waited over an hour. This was strange because when we wanted to sign up they picked up right away-- but wait times happen. My wife and I wanted to change the address when we moved halfway through the policy, so we called and waited four, three, and two hours on consecutive days before giving up. Because our landlord needed proof of insurance, we had to go with another company because we couldn't get through to change it! Now, we are trying to cancel and call periodically for seemingly infinite wait times. Sometimes the company hangs up because they are closed, sometimes we wait for four hours and have to leave the house. The waiting music is unbearable! Now, we have a policy we didn't even want to cancel on an apartment we no longer live in because we haven't been able to get through for two months. I'm frustrated and have no idea what to do at this point.
