5 Hours on the phone

Back and forth to agents, cut off, having to start over and over again in the queue. I'm not exaggerating: It took 2 hours to speak with an agent who then spent over 3 hours to set up a policy. He would ask one question then put me on hold for 30 minutes then repeat, repeat.

After I gave the agent my banking information, the agent said I would receive an email within an hour with my policy info. It's been three days and nothing. I have no actual proof of policy. I tried setting up an account online, but I don't exist in their system.

So, TD, do I have a policy or not? I guess I can look forward to another entire day of my life on the phone to find out.

And the music! The same horrible music played over and over again endlessly I wanted to blow my brains out....

Why is there no option for Zero Star rating?

Long wait times

Phone disconnects. Not able to email or have a callback. Chat line does not help only sends a phone number to call (same number).

Poor customer service

I have been with TD insurance for many years. Unfortunately, had a very bad experience with home insurance renewal this year. The document was sent and was not properly updated. Staff who answered the call said will send an email to confirm the policy update and never receive an email. Make several calls and waiting time to speak to a person took extremely long (over 60min to 90min).

Very overpriced insurance

I've had no trouble reaching them, and their auto insurance is competitive, but ...

My property insurance rates increased from $800/yr to $3,700/yr over 12 years, with most years involving a 10-15% increase.
I was able to replace coverage for less than 40% of the current premiums. I had to move my auto insurance too, but no change there.
They insisted on insuring our property for way more than the replacement cost and weren't open to adjustments.
When I called to cancel, they made no attempt to retain my business after I told them how uncompetitive they are.
I feel we've been ripped off at exorbitant rates for years.
I recommend that you review your insurance ASAP if you are covered by them!

Poor Customer Service

My home insurance more than doubled in 6 years with negligable changes to my coverage. They wanted to increase my payment by almost $800 for having a partially finished basement. Twice I asked to speak to a manager and both times I was told one would call me back in 24 to 48 hours. It's been 11 days and 7 days after each phone call and no one has called me back. I was a loyal customer, paying in full and on time for over 10 years. I will never go back. I was fortunate to get reasonably priced house insurance through another company that has much better online reviews. Stay away from this insurance company.

Are you a condo unit tenant? Remember that neither your condominium corporations' policy nor your landlord's insurance policy protects you as a tenant (3rd part liability, contents, etc.). If you do not have your own insurance policy, get your condominium insurance quote today.

Poor customer service

TD Meloche Monnex should take a look at these reviews. This is the worst and longest time I've waited on the phone and on their online chat agents - a minimum of 2 hours! I wait for hours on the phone and put on queue onto the chat lines to start as "you are number 13 in the queue". Been with this insurance company for more than 14 years. I did not pay attention to paying higher premiums because I thought this company deserves my loyalty, now I can not get a hold of agents. No agents on the phone anymore. What is going on with this insurance business that you can not reach an agent to help you out? I shopped around and found out that with almost the same coverage, I am paying a premium of almost 50% less which makes sense in this challenging economic crisis. I wish I did this earlier.

On hold forever

I don't want to renew with them and call hundreds of times and on hold forever. They mailed me many statements and charge a late fee every time, but I want to cancel with them earlier, but never get connected!!! Ridiculous!

Wait times are terrible!

The wait times are unbelievable. HOURS! Who has this time to wait on hold? Are there two people working? And the rates. My home insurance has doubled from two years ago because I needed a new policy on a new home (which is the same as my last home, a new build). They blamed COVID. I’ve never had a claim in my life. Seems crazy my policy would double!!!

We bought a new house and want to switch our policies to the new place. I am on hour two of being on hold. This is absolutely ridiculous! I don't have time to sit on hold for hours, they need to step up. Because of this, I am looking for another provider and I have been with them since 1997. Wow.
