I had any excellent experience when my hot water heater broke in 2006 and my basement was flooded. This year it has been a horrible process after having electronics stolen.
The adjuster was unbelievably rude. She didn't ask me any questions at all just went with the report that I gave earlier. She wasn't even aware of what had been stolen or the circumstances.
It was impossibly to get hold of her and she never returned any of my calls. I called her manager and her manager never returned my calls.
Many, many weeks and still no decision about paying my claim!!
I have had to go to the ombudsman!
I had a flood in my Basement February 20th. I called and submitted a claim and was told an adjuster would reach out in 1 business day.
Two days have passed and no call. Everytime i call they are surprised my adjuster hasnt called and promise he will reach out to me shortly, but no luck. The agent I spoke to yesterday said i was most likely covered and had been lumped under a catasprophe group.
Today they informed me (i had to call again) that uless there is a burst pipe that none of their policies (i have platinum) cover a rainstorm coming in your home through walls, doors or windows. 54 hours to find out they wont even come look at it. In tje meantime the extent of tje damage is worse and is going to cost me more. I will not be renewing my home or auto policies next month when they renew.

Last year my basement was damaged due to sewer back up and water seeped in from foundation due to sump pump failure. Claim was denied. Only few clients were impacted so TD denied all the claims. Now TD is covering same type of claims in Calgary and High River only due to media pressure and their competitors are covering claims.
I should have gone to media at that time. I need to find a good lawyer and file a publice interest petition against this organization who changes it's stand on daily basis.
