subzero customer service

I had been insured with Allstate for over 15 years. Car and home insurance. Terrible irresponsible customer service. First, they recorded that I filed a claim when I didn't get a single cent and had told them that I didn't wish to proceed with a claim. Their premium for home insurance is much higher than their competitor such as Desjardins for equal coverage. Allstate also wants to control the amount of payout. I've also had experience with customers representative who wanted to pressure me into renewing rather than looking into the problems that I had raised. AVOID ALLSTATE.

I had insurance with Allstate for 7 years. They increased my home insurance rates without my knowledge. They then promised to lower them and did so in writing only to turn around at renewal and deny coverage, saying I had claims that I did not. I appealed to management but did not get a response. Terrible customer service and disrespectful! Do not choose this company!

Allstate never again.

by Janet on Aug 16, 2018

Had the worst experience with Allstate home policy and their customer service. Insured my house with Suzan D in Canton IL. Suzan was ok. Little slow and forgetful, but had the best rate around, so I went with her and Allstate. I agreed to pay $813 per year ( August 2017) and I paid that in one lump sum electronically and signed up for automatic renewal in order to get the best rate. 9 months later ( may 2018) I looked at my policy to check when is the next renewal day due and see that I got charged an additional $86 on 12/2017. 3 months after signing my policy and paying in full. ??? Let me just point out that I have never approved that $86 deduction from my account. I have never been notified of that deduction or policy changes at all. They had access to my account, so they just took the $86. They had no right or my approval. That is plain old STEALING. Allstate steals and cheats. I will never insure with them again and I advised my coworkers and neighbors to do the same. I have never received a call or email or anything at all to notify me of the rate change. When I pointed that out ( Suzan D) I was told a notification was sent to my old address. (Why they sent a notification to my old address is a mystery to me, when I insured my house with them as my only and main residence). On top of that, the address Allstate had on file, was incorrect. I have never lived at that address. In today's electronic age and day I still can't believe they argue with me stating they notified me by sending a letter to non-existent address instead of sending an email or for goodness sake maybe, just maybe... making a phone call? Took me 2 weeks of trying to chase Suzan down and I still had no answers or apologies for that matter. I escalated the whole thing to Ryan E, Customer Resolution Specialist. He was nice at first but as I pushed for answers he became unavailable more and more. For the last few weeks, I have been leaving him voicemails and sending emails with no success. Today ( 3 months later) I was told I was not getting any apologies or my $86 back. I need to prove first that their appraisal of my property was incorrect. Basically, he suggested that I get my own appraisal (costs $300) to challenge their appraisal. Then… maybe then… I will get my $86 back. How stupid is that? Allstate did not insure me correctly. They did not give me the correct rate. They did not notify me of any account charges or additional charges. They stole money from my account and somehow it is my fault and I need to fight it? Well, they need the $86 more than I do, obviously, so they can keep it. If they would rather keep $86 than a customer, there is nothing I can do about that. I just hope all the other customers will be worth more than that and they will treat them better.

Terrible business ethics

I have been with Allstate for Auto and Home for over 20 years - claim free. In the past few years Allstate now offer "claim forgiveness" but when I put in a claim, last year, for a $1000 item, my home policy rate this year took a 30% hike - no explanation provided - just general hike ... Also, after separating from my husband - our truck (in both our names) was stolen. Allstate paid my husband out in full and I received nothing. When I called our agent, Jack H, to complain, he said "I understand why your husband left you" - nice!!

Stay Away from Allstate!

Can't wait till it's policy renewal time as I will NOT be renewing with Allstate. After 3 1/2 years with Allstate, I am done! Apparently, I had been getting a discount I was not entitled to. Mortgage information had not been added to my policy when I switched to Allstate. They never asked for that info when the policy was set up. Now that it has been added, my premium has increased, not by much but still unfair as it was not my error. What I am not happy about is the fact that when I questioned this I was basically told I was lucky they are not going to backdate me so I should be happy and if I continued to ask questions they will backdate it. Not a fan of being threatened! Also - the only insurance company that I have been with that raises rates (home & auto) EVERY year even though I've never had a claim!

Woorst insurance ever!

When I was looking for insurance, I found Allstate and thought, wow, a fair priced insurance company! Boy was I WRONG! They are simply CHEAP! They insured my house, I put in a claim after my bathroom leaked. They sent a contractor who repaired it after i had several fights with their so-called assessor. She had pissed me off so much with her attitude that I refused to deal with her anymore. After they had fixed my house completely, they cancelled my policy! I believe it was to get back at me for telling them that their assessor should get off her butt and go inspect claim damages instead of sending emails and trying to get the job done through contractors from the comfort of her chair. If I hadn't been tough with the assessor, she was quite happy doing a patch-up job on my ceiling and kitchen which would have made the house look horrible. I guess she gets commissions on savings. If you take Allstate insurance, know you are buying CHEAP - dont be surprised when you get CHEAP! They are useless.

1200$ added per yr for house

They targeted my area for a high volume of claims for water damage. Mother Nature happens everywhere. I did not make a claim. It went from 81$ to 159$ per month. They didn’t require a signature for this behind-my-back increase but to stop it I have to take a day off work to go and sign. So shady I’m disgusted. No one answered my email online and now they say too late, tough break. I’m cancelling today. Save yourself 1200$ and go somewhere else for insurance.

STAY AWAY.

Edmonton office. I phoned for a quote and they beat my the insurer I was with so I went with them. Compared apples to apples. Two weeks after paying the full premiums the invoices started to arrive for more money.(four invoices in a month all different amounts). I called my agent and was told the distance from my house to the fire hydrant was the reason. One hydrant is two houses away the other is three houses away. Two hydrants on my block. When I add the 4 invoices to the premiums already paid my insurance is now considerably higher than my previous insurers. Calling the office and asking to speak with someone in a management position does no good. They are always in meetings with their agents and do not call back. Will not insure with them again. Beware of their tactics to gain clients.

Aweful Allstate

by Mainur Rashid on Apr 29, 2016

With much regret I had to part with Allstate Home insurance after 17 years (2000 to 2016). In recent years, I have found that there customer services have been going down the drain while the premiums were skyrocketing. Specially in the last one year, their agents (perhaps not all) have become very arrogant and rude. Instead of professional client service and meaningful communication, they have been redirecting calls and if one is lucky to get his/her agent, the conversation experience would leave a bad taste in the mouth. It seems that they have put a bunch of clerks in the customer services who would only point to their head office if a customer required clarifications. Obviously, they have not been trained, not only in customer services, but also in what they sell/service; property insurance. They never return calls even after leaving number of messages in their voicemail. I do not know about other agencies of Allstate, but this is my experience with the agency at 3003 Danforth Avenue.

After using this company for at least 20 years without one claim they charged me $258.00 for not renewing with them. I found cheaper insurance $800.00 cheaper. They even sent it to a collection agency I would never do business with them again!
