Reprehensible

Cancelled our homeowner's insurance due to renovation on the home, which we were upfront about. Has not provided us with any information on what is required in order for us to get the insurance coverage reinstated. We have been asking the same questions for almost two months, and still don’t have answers. Don’t use these guys if you plan on doing any form of work on your house, or you will end up with no insurance coverage at all.

Worst insurance company

They did not cover the windows, the floors. They only covered the damage that they had caused by destroying the walls. It is a very bad insurance company. Stay away!!!

Great service!

The agent went above and beyond to provide thorough coverage at a great rate. I couldn't believe that she saved us $1500 per year from what we were paying with our previous provider. Thanks!

subzero customer service

I had been insured with Allstate for over 15 years. Car and home insurance. Terrible irresponsible customer service. First, they recorded that I filed a claim when I didn't get a single cent and had told them that I didn't wish to proceed with a claim. Their premium for home insurance is much higher than their competitor such as Desjardins for equal coverage. Allstate also wants to control the amount of payout. I've also had experience with customers representative who wanted to pressure me into renewing rather than looking into the problems that I had raised. AVOID ALLSTATE.

Bad claim experience

Allstate! Buyer beware, not always truthful about coverages that you qualify for but I had the misunderstanding. It’s difficult for me when I actually find the coverage I qualify for. Pathetic

Bad service

As i bought a home , i approached the company for home insurance after sending me a quote they said they couldnt insure me, and woudnt give me a policy number. I was very disappointed as annual premium was low so i went and got another insurance company to insure me. 03 months later i recieve a letter from this company telling me i owe 03 months of insurance premium that is due. One i went through the hassle of disclosure and getting a quote then didnt recieve any policy and now i owe them money for giving me nothing but run around.

Fort Mac Fire

Our townhouse is standing. At worst - smoke damage and the fridge is lost. I called Allstate on Sunday to open a file. Thankfully, I've kept every single piece of of paper regarding our policy with me. The system shows no contents coverage. In the notes section, a verbatim of my phone conversation with the agent is saved, including me be asking for specific a dollar value for contents insurance.

Now our policy and premiums paid should be proof we have it, but the Allstate computer system doesn't show any policy only that we've paid. Yesterday, I received an email, asking me to scan and email all our policy papers to Allstate. So comforting to know I am the record keeper for an insurance company. If they deny us for something they've sent documents stating otherwise and received payment for, isn't that fraud?

Woorst insurance ever!

When I was looking for insurance, I found Allstate and thought, wow, a fair priced insurance company! Boy was I WRONG! They are simply CHEAP! They insured my house, I put in a claim after my bathroom leaked. They sent a contractor who repaired it after i had several fights with their so-called assessor. She had pissed me off so much with her attitude that I refused to deal with her anymore. After they had fixed my house completely, they cancelled my policy! I believe it was to get back at me for telling them that their assessor should get off her butt and go inspect claim damages instead of sending emails and trying to get the job done through contractors from the comfort of her chair. If I hadn't been tough with the assessor, she was quite happy doing a patch-up job on my ceiling and kitchen which would have made the house look horrible. I guess she gets commissions on savings. If you take Allstate insurance, know you are buying CHEAP - dont be surprised when you get CHEAP! They are useless.

For home and car insurance

We had home and car inusrance with All State and have worste experience.
1. Car - We had a no claim accident on October 13th. We called and got the claim #. We made 9 phone calls and faxes and were very frustrated. We called our agent on October 21st and wrote the email below

"Hello xxxx dated October 21st 7:21 a.m.,

There is no update and no phone call returned for our claim. The accident took place on Monday October 13th. We got the two estimates from the body shop and have not heard back. Both the body shop places mentioned it is not safe to drive the car and with the rain and open electrical it makes it worst. Can we please settle something today and get the direction. This is the worst service I have ever received for a claim. I think two adjusters are looking into but nobody has come back with any answer. Can we get the car fixed and can we get a rental today.

Apology to involve you but we waited all day yesterday for the phone call and it is a week now and we have no update or direction.

2. Home insurance - We got the home insurance cancelled the same time we cancelled our auto when it was due. We did not hear back and wrote to the agent again before the renewal date and we get the registered letter with a bill.

taken for granted

I was a 12-year client, insuring my home and cars without shopping around. I phoned around for other quotes this year. I found out Allstate has been charging me twice as much as the others, for less insurance.
I called and asked why. They said they cannot answer that, the prices are determined by their central office.
