Our townhouse is standing. At worst - smoke damage and the fridge is lost. I called Allstate on Sunday to open a file. Thankfully, I've kept every single piece of of paper regarding our policy with me. The system shows no contents coverage. In the notes section, a verbatim of my phone conversation with the agent is saved, including me be asking for specific a dollar value for contents insurance.
Now our policy and premiums paid should be proof we have it, but the Allstate computer system doesn't show any policy only that we've paid. Yesterday, I received an email, asking me to scan and email all our policy papers to Allstate. So comforting to know I am the record keeper for an insurance company. If they deny us for something they've sent documents stating otherwise and received payment for, isn't that fraud?
