ABSOLUTELY THE WORST COMPANY

by DESPAIR on Oct 16, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

DESJARDINS - ABSOLUTELY THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER EVER EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH. I was in an accident January 2018 - 10 months later, I am still fighting with them to pay some of the repairs. They keep saying yes, yes we agree to pay a certain amount but yet 10 months later still no money from them. I just got fed up and wanted my truck fixed before winter, so I ended up just paying for repairs myself. I was granted massage therapy and physiotherapy after this accident, which I used up. Now I am fighting with them to simply close my claim so that I can move on and be done with them once and for all. The massage and physiotherapy offices have been trying to get ahold of them for months now too and finalize my claim and to close my file. To make matters worse, I can not get coverage with a new insurance until the claim is CLOSED with Desjardins

WORSE INSURANCE EVER

by despaired on Sep 15, 2018

DO NOT GO with these people. Desjardins \ Certas auto insurance is bad bad bad. I swerved my truck off the road due to a very bad snow storm with extremely slippery roads and low visibility. My truck ended up being sandwiched between an ice bank and the side guardrail. My front bumper completely cracked and falling off, front grill pushed in and front tow hook bent. Left bumper completely scraped by the ice bank. When the accident occurred it was very dark out, no street lights. Therefore I could not see all the damages. When I filed my claim online that evening, I failed to report ALL the damages. I had my truck towed to a nearby garage and left it there for the night. I was also injured. Severe whiplash. I couldn't get to the garage to look at my truck until a few days later. Once I saw the actual damages to my truck, I called Desjardins to make an adjustment to my claim and damages. At 1st the adjuster seemed very helpful. But once I received the paperwork via mail, I noticed a very big mistake. The damages in my accident had been split into two separate claims thus charging me two separate 500$ deductibles. I called Desjardins / Certas back to re-explain the situation. Again, the adjuster seemed empathetic and wanting to help. She said the checks were already sent out separately but she would fix the notes to say that all the damages were subject to the same claim and that I would only be liable for one 500$ deductible. She gives me the ok to proceed with the repairs. I then take my truck to a body shop. They give me a quote that exceeded way beyond what Desjardins / Certas paid me for damages. Desjardins / Certas convinced me to send back the original checks they gave me so that they can then start the process over putting all the damages under one claim with only one 500$ deductible. I stupidly comply and send back the checks. Next thing I know, the body shop is telling me the Desjardins / Certas is refusing their appraisal and offering me even less money than before to cover the damages. Needless to say, this accident happened in January 2018, 8 MONTHS LATER, I AM STILL FIGHTING with my Desjardins / Certas to have them cover the entire damages minus the 500$ deductible. To make matters worse, during this gruelling ongoing process they have switched me over to 5 different adjusters. As I said at the top, DESJARDINS \ CERTAS AUTO INSURANCE - WORST COMPANY EVER!!!

Arrogant /Brainless behavior

by Desjardin Bullying Costumers on Sep 13, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I am insured to drive occasionally my sister's and brother-in-law's cars. I am going to move soon to another city, so I gave my car to my sister so she can be the owner, she can sell it or do whatever she wants with it. She wanted to put me on her insurance for this car, so until I move away I can have a car to drive sometimes if I need, but ARROGANT and (I am not saying this to offend this guy) STUPID ( literally stupid I am not kidding) Desjardin representative told me I can't be insured for this car, he is not going to put me in insurance for this car... AND I am still insured for the first two cars????!!!!! HOW???? That made us angry and we found better insurance, much cheaper and I am registered without extra cost. So my advice is don't use Desjardin and keep calling other insurances to check your options.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

No trust

by Never trust dejerdin auto insurance on May 16, 2018

Please don’t waste your time and effort and don’t put your credit in. It's dangerous because first they are saying that it doesn’t affect, if it’s not your fault in accident and then after 6 years, when they don’t take any benefit from you, they are saying that it’s your fault, we can’t take you anymore. Worst customer service, and changing their words, lying, when they have no benefits from you. Never trust Desjardins insurance company

Increase in rate

by longdistance on Jan 11, 2018
2 out of 5 stars

I have been with this company for over 7 years, and year over my rates have been dropping steadily. I even signed up for their Adjusto program and maintained a good driving record (no claims or anything). My Adjusto savings even went up to a high percentage, resulting in good savings. However, this year when my insurance was up for renewal, my rate went up by a whole 24% for the year. I contacted customer service, and they did not know what to tell me other than the area where I live rating was the cause. They even told me had it not been for the Adjusto program the increase would have been 40%. I have had zero claims or tickets, but yet they increased my premium by such a large amount solely due to where I live. Highly disappointing as it very much feels like because I was paying a low rate they decided to increase it as they please, and they just gave me a canned response.

5 Year New Vehicle Protection

by Darden123 on Dec 31, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

After 3 months, I finally have resolved my claim. Anybody insured with this plan should be aware that it is vital to understand it before paying the additional premium. It is written very poorly and lacks much clarity. The Superintendent of Insurance (Alberta) was involved in my claim and has asked for additional clarity in the documentation. There is no definition of total loss so each claim has its’ own definition provided by the adjuster. Unless you can prove a total loss it will be considered a partial loss so the threshold is critical. So much so that I would advise all to get the definition before paying further premiums, which will rise each year. The value of the damaged vehicle must be added to the cost of repairing it and the cost of the rental. If that amount exceeds the cost of replacing your vehicle you have a solid argument to demand a new current year vehicle.

They won't even talk to you politely. This is the most rude insurance company I have ever talked to in my entire life. I was asking the guy's name and he just dropped the call. That is so nice right.

Auto insurance just went up!!!

by angry customer on Nov 28, 2017
2 out of 5 stars

I have been with this company for awhile. There were numerous complaints on various websites, but I failed to listen. My insurance just magically went up by almost 500 dollars for the year and I have been a perfect driver. No tickets, no claims nothing! The only thing they could tell me was that in the year there were a lot of claims for my area. Bullcrap!!!! Let's see the numbers. Let's see the claims for all the different areas. If you are okay with your premiums going up every year, with no sound reason and no reward for being a good driver? Go with these people. I just have listened. Listen here, these people are not worth it. If you still decide to, remember, you will keep increasing each year for no reason. They are not worth it. Go somewhere else.

Very rude

by GlenP on Nov 21, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

My wife's car was rear-ended; not her fault. Once they approved the estimate, the repair shop advised us it would be done in 2 weeks. The adjuster told us we could only have the rental for ten days "because that's the time our preferred shop would take". We had to fight back and forth for extension. Very rude on the phone, left my wife shaking. He told her she "needs to put pressure on the repair shop". That's his job. We have a contractual right to pick whatever shop we choose and it doesn't say if we don't pick their shop that they can short us on the rental. Then the shop had to re-order a part because the part their estimator ordered was the wrong part. That added 2 days to the repair but the adjuster only approved 1 extra day. We had to fight again to get the extension that was caused by their mistake. Last minute we find out, from the car rental place, that the adjuster told them to bill us directly instead of billing Desjardin, and we could "apply" for reimbursement. Outrageous, terrible service.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Rude agents on phone

by vikas56 on Nov 5, 2017
1.5 out of 5 stars

I had a horrendous experience with a Desjardins agent on the phone, when I inquired as to why my insurance had been arbitrarily jacked up in the middle of a term. She was very controlling and rude and . It is my money that I am paying and need to know where it is going. When the time for renewal came up, I took my business elsewhere.
