Extremely poor service

Where to begin? Let’s just start off with, don’t just go to the cheapest place you find. Had a claim that took almost 2 years to finish.
There’s just always and I mean always no answers for anything. It’s always talking to this person and they say talk to this person and then they’re on holiday for 6 weeks. I would give this company a zero-star rating if that was an option. If you reading this trying to decide what insurance company to use, please stop reading and go to the next one on the list or you will regret it.

6+ Month And Counting

by Tom on Aug 20, 2022

Adjuster is useless, it felt like pushing rope to get my car repaired after no fault accident. The “section manager” attempted to use her title to intimidate me. The complainant department intentionally stalls the complaint process. Complete waste of money and most exhausting process ever.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Unable to even get a quote

1-1/2 weeks before our car insurance would expire, I had contacted the local Desjardins office trying to get both a car and home insurance quote. The representative sent me a lengthy email with all the details she required for this. 8 days before the renewal date I emailed her, providing all of this information. But there was no feedback whatsoever.

Rip off artists and they lie!

by Nothappy on Apr 20, 2022

Told us we had to release the car so they can get it the next day. We did that.
Almost 2 weeks later we received an email that says we have to pay 360 for the towing and 60 a day impound.
The representative Jess said the car was going to be moved She listened to *a tape* will honour that... ok great.
Tells us nothing further can be done until the accident report was obtained.
She tried to tell us she can't access it.
We called the opp who informed us she can.
Then under an hour later, she manipulates my son with the brain injury into accepting a pay put that is not even half the replacement value of the car.
The guy on the phone Benjamin tells me the point in insurance is to give you money so you can add to it and buy a replacement vehicle. It'd not intended to pay what it cost to replace the car.
I have dealt with 6 people from claims. None know what they are doing and none care about customers. Not one is truthful either.
Do not go with this company

Bad and worst company

by Blessing Francis on Apr 19, 2022

I had an accident at 19, I was new to the country not know that I have to snap or called the police, I didn’t even know what to do. I don’t even know if the insurance can or is supposed to cover all this damage. Called the mover to come to get it off the road because I couldn’t drive because of the shock and pain I got from my seatbelt. Well. After two days I was a dive to call my insurance to let them know, and that was the beginning of my problem in like, they took me. A car without returning it, they didn’t cover or fixed it and they kept sending bills for God know what. They are supposed to be our problem solvers not adding to our problem. They called my case misleading and so on. And kept propounding our meeting till 3 years was over.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Very little help

by MrThompson on Apr 14, 2022

I've not had my car for 4 months now, for a suspension repair. My coverage for a rental was up partway through month one. Leaving me without a car. My claims advisor has been M.I. Almost this entire time, not respond to any of my emails, returned one of my several calls. Little to no updates. With all this going on I've missed 2 almost 3 months of work now. Still charging me $360 a month for insurance and not offering any sort of additional help. Rebates/refunds or a break on insurance.
They are here to take advantage of you and kick you while you're down. This is the second time I've used them and each minute of it has been terrible. DO NOT CHOOSE DESJARDINS!!!

Rude & Bullying Customer service: I talked to this company for 3 days to get an insurance

by yara on Apr 12, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

Very humiliating experience to try to get car insurance while talking on the phone with their staff. They grilled me so hard for working online and having my own company. I have called for needing insurance for my car because I need a car for personal reasons... Grocery, visit friends. The woman on the phone even asked me super personal questions as I was polite to apologize about the background noise for being in the hospital... She asked me why I'm in the hospital and I told her it is personal. She was very rude and even said "well this is a personal policy"... She accused me of even renting out where I live and that the utility bill is not proof enough for her, I almost wanted to just tell her "well do you want to check my Instagram for my life updates to believe I actually moved into my residential address?" This is completely humiliating. Entrepreneurs need cars to see family, to live like human beings, I don't do deliveries, I work ONLINE, I barely leave the house... And she even told me "well just make sure you don't go to the post office". Well, I'm sure every Canadian citizen has the right to go to the post office, it is a right to send mail to family, to return items, have you never shopped online and needed to return something? It is just plainly none of their business. So, I went with another company. I felt completely humiliated that I even had to tell her that I'm sick at the hospital so she can believe me as to why I was at a hospital. I felt like I was being accused for being a liar the whole time... For 3 days I was with different people on the phone, if you don't want to insure me just say so, don't waste my time and don't humiliate me. This is not a good company.

Was with State Farm/Desjardin for 27 years

After the agent's help told my wife who is 65 she was too stupid and old to understand insurance. We decided to switch companies. I switch on the university date of when the original policies were taken out. Unknown to me and never checked after our old agent retired the new agent split the autos insurance into two policies and staggered them 6 months apart. As the agent sent out pink slips good for 6 months at a time I should have read policies but did not. The new insurance is $675.00 a year the agents' cancellation fees for the one auto they changed the policy date on was $422.00. I hope the agent Julia R has a good time with the monies from seniors who have a combined income of $30,000.00 a year.
