I had to call in because RBC made mistake on my name on the auto policy. The total wait time was 4+ hours. Transferred by 5 different agents and every time they tell me: - sorry, the wrong department let me transfer you then continue to wait. How can you transfer me wrong 5 times???!!! One of the agents said it can be a system glitch... I understand that wait time can be long during COVID but being transferred to the wrong department 5 times is unacceptable.
We wasted a lot of time going back and forth with RBC about our camping trailer, only to learn 6 hours in that our trailer was too old to insure! Umm, you could have told us that in the first 15 minutes.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
The worst customer service. On the phone for over an hour, the second call. First was disconnected with no call back after being put on hold and being on the call for 20 minutes. This was for home insurance, 4 policy’s with them now for over 5 years. No claims. Paid on time always. Was asked questions there’s no way I could know the answers too, was asked to provide the info I could have no access to. “Please, provide proof the furnace was installed by qualified personnel”. I’m the fourth owner in 20 years. Called 3 other insurers after with great, easy experiences. Goodbye Aviva.
Sending out a PSA. Never ever go with RBC/Aviva insurance for any of your insurance needs. Over a decade I was treated with complete disrespect. The agent was incredibly rude, incompetent, unprofessional, would not listen to anything I said. Demanded I answer questions, told me I was lying to him. Cancelled my policy without my permission. Lost out on about $500 that they are refusing to reimburse me especially hard during Covid with less income. I’ve never been treated this way in my entire life. Apparently, all I’m entitled to be an $85 goodwill gesture. No thank you. Appalling customer service. They’ve listened to phone call recording and apologized but are apparently doing an internal investigation on the employee, which helps me 0. Congratulations for stealing from a family of their hard-earned money. Do not even give them a cent of your money. Atrocious company. Asked for a recording of the call but they refused to give it to me.
Just had a very unpleasant experience with an RBC Insurance representative while trying to cancel my car policy. When I asked for someone else to speak to they were much better. I would never go back to them and will endeavour to move all away from them.
Friends who have different auto insurers (Travellers and others) received automatic rebates or at least calls from their auto insurers once COVID hit. RBC refused to provide any refund to me before the date I called, although I no longer was using my vehicle for work. They gave me a $3 rebate for the year going forward (for Oct to August). So stingy! I pay nearly $1000 a year!
First off I will say I have been through the wringer with this company! Everything from my policy getting cancelled because of an accident I wasn't even a driver or involved in that had happened 6 most prior for one and then 2 years later having a full-scale highway accident involving a death where I was found at 0% fault. Long story short for my claim involving the other driver who was at 100% fault and died on the scene they handed me over to their partner company to handle my coverages. This was a 3-month battle which ended with me hiring a private appraiser along with him finding a fraudulent appraisal made by this partner company and RBC Aviva backing it up but once the proof surfaced I ended up over $10k added to my claim which I would have never got if I didn't fight for it! Stay away and use a broker! I used a broker and they undercut RBC by $500/year on my auto and $1400 on my home.
I was informed of the cancellation of my insurance 4 days after it was cancelled. I was told it was cancelled due to 3 speeding tickets. I got copies of my driver's abstract in which I found there were only 2 tickets. I also had 2 other insurance companies investigate me, and they both came up with the same answer of 2 tickets. When I questioned them on this they tried to say that it was their policy to decline insurance due to 3 tickets. Which would be fine if I had 3. I sent them all the documents which proved that I wasn't a high-risk client but they are hiding behind excuses of policy and underwriters. RBC isn't worth the time and effort to get insurance through. Remember don't go to an insurance agent for a car loan and in turn, don't go to a bank for insurance.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
As stated in the title, this scam of a company expects me to pay an extra $500+ because of a glitch in their system, which the person I was talking to straight-up admitted. Even after trying to reason with them for 20 minutes, they have the same answer: "too bad, fix our mistake with your money". I have cancelled my insurance and going with another company for now. Same rate and hopefully better service.
Very rude customer service. Call in about payment and was told if I don't like being overcharged I can end my contract. I have been with them for 15+ years never missed payment and I'm treated like that.
