AVOID!!!

by RBCRegrets on May 24, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I have been trying to cancel my policy for over three weeks now. I've been on hold for almost 4 hours multiple times, when you leave your number, no one calls back...definitely giving me the runaround. Each time, they would ask for another task for me to do to get the cancellation "approved". Due to this, the policy was renewed and I was charged for this month!!! Absolutely ridiculous! I cannot wait to never have to deal with them again.

Terrible customer service

by dalt on May 5, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I parked my car and put it on suspended coverage. When I went to put it back on the road, they increased my rate. Said it was "pro-rated" for the rest of my term even though I ensured that my rates would not change when I changed my coverage. They refused to quote me for motorcycle coverage because I was not 30 even though I have a clean record and 4 years of constant coverage on my bike, but they will quote someone with two tickets who is 30. Terrible experience every time I call.

Payment Policy change Rip Off

by Robin on Apr 24, 2018

RBC has changed their payment policy!! So watch out!! The month before your policy expires they are taking a double payment claiming you get that back when you cancel your policy. This is a total rip-off!!!!

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Outrageous Price Increase

by Bev-Ann on Mar 7, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I moved from Alberta to Ontario and called RBC to transfer my auto insurance. They increased my premium almost $500 for the same coverage. When I asked why, they said it was because Ontario is just more expensive.
So I shopped around and found other insurance carriers that will give me the same coverage for around the same cost as what I was paying in Alberta. When I cancelled my RBC policy they charged me a cancellation fee equal to one month.

Horrible Wait Times

by FIXIT!! on Nov 1, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

I called twice yesterday. The wait time was stated as over 45 minutes but they at least had a callback option. I called again in the evening but waited over 40 minutes, until after 8:00 PM. I'm currently waiting to speak to a representative now. The wait time was allegedly 27 minutes at 6:06 PM. It has now been 49 minutes...

Poor customer service

by Dan on Jul 31, 2017

Phoning these guys is a JOKE!
They'll give you a call back option and " we will get back to you in over 30 minutes" - not IN 30 minutes but OVER 30 minutes and if you need your phone while they're calling back, you're SOL.
I've spent the better part of 1/2 a day trying to talk these jokers.
My search for a new insurance co. begins now.

Insure a car twice? No thanks

by NoDoublingUp on Jul 20, 2017

Called RBC Insurance for a quote back in April, and was going to call back once we obtained ownership of the vehicle. Long story short, we did not end up taking ownership. The car is still owned and insured by the original owner.

Someone at RBC Insurance went ahead and STARTED our policy, with no authorization or consent. We are now out over $800, and they are threatening a cancellation fee + bad insurance record for a car we do not even own. We have provided them with the VIN history report as well as the current insurance papers for the car - still not able to fix this.

How is this even possible?! How can you insure a car that is already insured?! This is mindboggling

Awful insurance company!

by DislikeRBCInsurance on Apr 22, 2017

My experience - I relocated from one city to the next thinking my son's father was going to be moving with me; this didn't end up happening though. However, RBC for some reason didn't "believe me". They wanted me to track down my son's father (who is abusive) and ask him for his driver's licence number. I asked to speak with a Manager; the same thing. If I didn't provide his licence number, my insurance would be cancelled? I am now with another insurer (AWESOME carrier) and they could not believe RBC treated a customer this way. I was told by this company that all that needed to do was to write a statement stating my son's father did not relocate to the new city with us (this is what the new company would have had me do). They are also really expensive with rates in comparison with other providers. Go with an insurance broker who will shop deals for you. NEVER go with a financial institution. Horrible experience. My deductible is now 1/2 of what RBC was giving me and I get lots of other bonuses as well. I had the bare minimum with RBC; when I switched to another insurance company, I was already down $30 per month!!! My plan was renewed this month, and it is down another $35.00!!!

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

An overly detailed review.

Hello, I am a 19 year old and as of yesterday I was forced to remove my name that was under my premed policy. My parents have been with them for 10 or more years and as far as I could remember I've never heard my parents complaining much about them. Like my first car accident they were helpful and didn't give any problems to me but my second one... Horrible situation and still on going. Since my car was a write-off I had to buy a new car and add it into the policy, called em up had no problem adding it but I thought that the papers were said that my mom is the owner and I was a co signer or whatever, so I told Walter (the rep, he is a very nice person ) that it's under my moms name. I also requested them to send proof of insurance papers to the dealership and it was no problem. The next day I picked up my new car and I was so excited of course. My family and I all went to sign the papers but said that the insurance papers haven't come in so I of course called rbc and told them the situation. But this representative named "Gill" or something similar totally messed everything up. Because the adjuster (Daren or Darrel i forgot the name) was negligent to asking me what actually happened in the accident, he just put me at fault. Like the reasonable adjuster in this case would actually ask for a fully detailed explanation of the accident but since for the time being I received a ticket it's assumed my fault. Keep in mind no one said I was guilty, not even the police officer said I was at fault completely. So what gives you any authority to tell me that I'm fully at fault? Obviously insurance wise it's a yes or no thing but I'm still waiting on my court date in 2-3 months for the not guilty plead and it's a shoe-in for my ticket to be lifted from the situation it's been in. BASICALLY, what Gill did, was he put me as an independent client and made out premium go through the roof! We paid I'd say around 190/per month it's good price. He said because of the accident that I was not at fault at the premium would go to almost 600 dollars a month like hello sir, who is going to pay such an ungodly price for that ???? My family and I do not have high income, we are an average household who will no longer put up with such prices. He said it's either I pay that much or I remove my name completely off the policy. I just decided to take it off completely. So now my beautiful new car is sitting in my driveway, untouched since my dad drove it home. My dad is very mad and upset at this and we are for sure changing companies as soon as possible. Sorry for such a long review I just needed to get that off my check. Thanks
