I had been insured with rbc for about a year and been a client on the financial side for 10 years. My payments were coming out monthly on my credit card. Through the advice of my financial advisor I changed my credit card. I did not think to update the rbc insurance and my financial advisor did not mention it either. I had an investment property insured with rbc insurance as well. For whatever reason, my address of my investment was what they had as my address on my car insurance as well. Because of none payment, they were going to cancel my insurance. Apparently they sent 2 registered letters which my tenant says never arrived. They did not pick up the phone and call me or send me an email, both of which they had. They said some rubbish about legislation but please tell me where legislation says that good customer service should not be followed. I was in an accident about my policy was cancelled and now I am having to deal with the other insurance company myself. They are incredible difficult to deal with as I am not sure that they other person has filed a report with their insurance company. DO NOT HAVE RBC AS AN AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY, it's not worth it!!
I've been with other insurance providers but RBC is simply the worst in every aspect. I had a claim where I had pictures to prove I was hit from behind and the truck driver had a video to show. I was lane switching in traffic and had plenty of space so I went over, it was in slow traffic. Part of my bumper was out trying to complete the change and a truck from like 3 car lengths away kept coming at me trying to go around me and scraped my car... I understand I'm at fault for being the lane switcher but the truck driver was completely aware I was lane switching. Also tried to flee the scene. I had all proof and they wouldn't even do a 50 50. Nothing to try and help their customer at all. Just after my pocket. The adjustor said he would look into it and it took over a month for him to get back to me as if he wasn't even looking into my evidence. Just dismissed my claim based on a book of the road rules without diving deeper into the situation. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, not even someone I dislike.
I bought insurance fully disclosing all of my facts, I was given insurance Oct17th I was then AFTER the FACT asked to provide a Application for Ontario Car insurance (process in reverse) This reaffirmed and divulged the exact facts and admissions (ie accidents etc.) I had provided in a taped telephone conversation initially....The "underwriter can THEN REFUSE to provide the insurance policy (that they had previously entered into a contract with you) AND CANCEL your insurance (is this even legal?)
After leaving my former insurance company (my rates gone there) after leaving -now doubled I cannot go back there and will have a cancellation on the insurance database that is not even my fault...if they were going to NOT offer me insurance after full disclosure it is their responsibility I think to do it during the initial conversation/interview over the phone.
I am sorry the day that I ever called RBC Insurance-my life is a mess because of this situation and I have to scramble for insurance.
My dad passed away 2008 , at that time we changed home / auto policy to my 89 yr old mothers name - RBC even sent the documents " in the estate of " as well as a new policy under my mothers name.
from 2008 till present they have been sending the policy renewals in my mothers name and debiting her account .
Today we called to say we had sold the care and to cancel the auto policy . RBC is refusing to cancel the policy as it is in my dad's name ??
I I gave them the dates / copies of all the letters showing the recognized his passing and the policy was not in my mothers name ...
Not good enough apparently ...so until a dead mad calls them to cancel the policy they are going to continue to take $ from my mothers account for a car she does not own .
I don't know how RBC insurance hasn't upset all their customers and sent them running for the hills. My boyfriend and I have been living together for 9 months. He had to make a hail claim with RBC and somehow ended up mentioning that we live together. The claims agent advised him that he add me to his insurance policy or they would not cover an accident if I was driving. A few weeks later he received a letter in the mail from RBC stating they had tried to call him and he had not returned their call. If he didn't call them back, they may cancel his insurance. He had not received a voicemail from them. He called them back and i t turns out they are going to cancel his insurance if he doesn't add me. They assure him it will cost nothing extra. Now they want my drivers license nhmber , insurance information, full driving history, vehicle information. That is ridiculous! I'm insured with TD and I have advised them I live with my boyfriend and they never put me through anything like this! Unfortunately my boyfriend is in the middle of a claim or he would be leaving RBC over this bullsjit!
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I was backing up a friends car, bumped into MY car, caused $2500 in damage. Rbc insurance said my friend's insurance should pay because it was his car. I was driving his car, it was MY FAULT but an accident. My insurance should pay not his. I have to pay out of my pocket. No way I'm going to get my friend's insurance to pay so HIS rates go up when it was totally my fault. I should have lied and said that I was clipped in a parking lot by a car that took off. They would've paid then. Rule #1 don't tell the truth!!
I had an accident and it took over a week to get anything done!! The adjuster said she "called" me on the Tuesday after the accident (which happened Saturday) but I didn't have any missed numbers on my phone so I don't think she even called. I ended up having to call RBC on Wednesday and filing the claim then. Also, when I asked for a rental car they advised that I was going to have to pay out of pocket and would be reimbursed at a later date. This is total BS as they were the ones at fault and they wanted me to pay upfront which isn't right, but I borrowed my moms car for the time being. We set up an appointment for someone to come look at the car on Friday morning and I asked for a phone call before they showed up. Needless to say, I never got a call. I didnt hear anything back that day (Which I was supposed to) and sill got nothing on Monday morning. I called twice on the Friday they inspected the car, twice on Monday after, both days with no answer at all. I had to call the general 1-866 number, spoke with someone who escalated the situation to a manger who was going to back to me 2 days later... However, 20 minutes later the adjuster called me back saying "So I heard you need a rental car?"... And I said yes if I dont have to pay out of pocket to which she responded "Well you can't use your mom's car anymore?". I was furious - It is not my moms responsibility to look after the situation, when their client is the one at fault and should be taking care of me!! She ended up booking me the rental car after a week of waiting and having to constantly chase them to do anything about the situation. These guys are absolutely ridiculous and their customer service absolutely sucks. Dont ever use RBC!
I was stupid and switched to RBC 4yrs ago, I haven't fit one good thing to say about them be it horrible customer service constantly increasing rates, and they refuse to fix your vehicle properly even when I took it to their approved facility. Now they quote me a price then won't put full coverage until I took it for inspection, so after 6 weeks of the only 1 place that does this for RBC finally doing it, they double my deductible, double the cost, say they won't cover the rims or the stereo, and they will only pay half what the auction value is on the car!! I have multiple vehicles and multiple house policies, and now ill be taking it elsewhere!! Did I mention I have no tickets and only 2 claims in 20 years!!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
RBC rep called me regarding excluded driver form that we had signed with an exception. They did not like what I had written and said that If i did not re-sign form they could cancel my ins. Spoke to a supervisor who promised to look into the matter and get back to us in writing - on yes they certainly did-
to advise my car insurance is being cancelled as quote" the risk has changed materially". Whatever this means - I have no idea.
Very disapointed to be treated this way - they certainly do not want my business.
Informed me I had to add my daughter to my policy and double the cost of my policy. Not until the end of the conversation did they say I could sign a disclosure not to add her. I asked why they did not mention this at the start of the conversation reply was " we are not aloud to bring it up unless the customer does". Switched companies. Not happy with RBC at all.
