Customer for many years. I have found that the rates from TD Meloche Monnex has consistently been amongst the lower priced suppliers. But even more important, is that when my car was t-boned, the claim was handled promptly and in a very professional manner. Rental car was provided which I used for 1 month as my car was in the shop for that long to get parts in from Germany (nothing exotic - just a Saturn Astra). Body shop and car rental was paid directly by TDMM. I will be renewing with them.
My insurance went from about 1300 to over 4000 because TD Home and Auto thought I lied to them. I did not and I proved it. The city mistakenly put something on my abstract so that is why they though I lied. After weeks of fighting the city, they finally admitted their error and gave me a form, circled the infraction and wrote "on in error" as it would still take a couple weeks for it to officially come off my abstract. I sent that to TD they literally said, "we don't care" once my abstract was clean a few weeks later I sent that to them, they still did not care. They still felt it was fair to charge me over 4000 dollars insurance for a 10 year old jeep worth about 6 or 7000.
All I can say is if you value your money, stay away from this company.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
TD Insurance did offer me a competitive auto insurance. However, the two main issues I had was with an accident claim (now off record) and heavily rising premiums the past couple of years, despite a good driving record. My claim for a US accident (not at fault) was not dealt with well. Due to slow case processing and a lack of will to pursue the incident due to complications with cross-border rules, I did not find the claims process fair nor easy to deal with. Despite not being at fault, I ended up taking a premium hit and absorbing the claim. Also, premiums have risen $1000 the past 2 years, a huge increase, merely due to the demographics of "other" drivers that live in the same neighbourhood. Where good driving and loyalty were once both considered a factor in competitive insurance rates, I find more recently that this is not the case and will be re-assessing my options upon renewal.
Took over two weeks to evaluate my vehicle
Did not give sufficient time to evaluate purchase options
I haven't had a claim experience yet with Meloche Monnex, but the customer service experience otherwise has been very good, including helping me with policy updates, sending premium info for accounting purposes, etc.
Whenever I do call in, I find that I consistently get someone who is obviously knowledgeable in the insurance product I'm inquiring about, which is a big bonus over some of the other companies I've gotten quotes from but haven't ended up doing business with.
If I will need coverage on a new product, I'll shop with Meloche Monnex first.
Have made 2 claims and they were handled very well and promptly.
TD Meloche Monnex, whether for car or home insurance, has excellent agents who take the time to explain everything and follow up with excellent written mailed communications.
Good knowledge and value their customers
Each claim has been handled efficiently. I have had no problems nor would I say that service was exceptional … just very good.
I had an accident, in which I was not responsible. However, due to lack of support from TD insurance, I lost the case. They never sent any one to accident's location. The accident was in private parking, and police did not get involved. They just wasted time to lose the case. My adjustor never picked up the phone, and never called back even though I left messages so many times. It is not a fair situation for customers to be part of their dirty game.
